I posted in another thread, but I was curious about the electronic blackjack tables, so I stopped in, didn't end up coining in at all, no matter the minimum they're hit soft 17, and no resplit cards (2 hands max), so about 1% house edge, not bad if you want to mess around. Interesting tidbit, alcohol stops selling at 2am in MD, but on Friday and Saturday at the casino they can sell alcohol till close which is 4am. The traffic is absolutely atrocious though, and I can't see it getting any better at any point.

You were there on the weekend?

Not to say I told you so about the traffic, but I told you so. Up to two hour delays on I-295(balt-wash parkway) opening weekend.

That's odd because I could swear I saw Sex and the City at Wheeling Island. Since the casinos are a joint effort with the WV Lottery, I'm a bit surprised. However, if the seats are full, why pay more money that could be a shared agreement? Keep all the money to yourself.

I'm sorry this took so long, I'd been lurking in this thread and must have missed this post.

You're absolutely right about Sex and The City being at Wheeling Island, prominent placement, at that. They're almost right in the middle just after the escalator on the main entrance, right after you pass up all of those $0.05 QuickHits Progressives.

There are other licensed slots there, as well. There is American Idol, which doesn't really accomplish anything except being loud and annoying, because I never see anyone playing it. They have the new Playboy games. They have at least two Monopoly machines, but the machines don't play close enough to the real game to be of any interest to me. I may or may not have seen a Wheel of Fortune game there, I didn't come anywhere close to playing it, so I don't remember. It's wither Wheel of Fortune or it's a knock-off meant for people to think it's Wheel of Fortune. I think it's a knock-off because I never hear, "Wheel....Of....Fortune!!!" like you would on the beginning of the game show. They would certainly have that going every 0.6 seconds or so if it were the real deal.

The only Penny machines I play with anything approaching regularity are QuickHits Black & White Sevens and Blue Moon.

Yea I stopped in at noon on Sunday, walked right in, got some Bobby's Burger Palace while I was there, left around 3pm and there was a line outside of people waiting to get in as they were back to capacity.

Wheeling Island also has a few Survivor slot machines. I almost forgot those because I am very rarely in that area of the floor.

I blogged about my visit to Maryland Live!, but maybe I should put some of the details here, too; the best prior report was from 100x Odds, who posted it here.

100x described the set-up for e-craps much better. When I was there, the minimum at the bar and at the main island was $5, and I am wondering if that isn't just the minimum period now [I did not sit at non-bar satellite though].

I was mainly interested in the Craps, I never play slots. The same machines that had Craps also had Sic Bo, Double Zero Roulette & Baccarat.

The Craps is advertised online as having ''the excitement of the traditional game with an exciting new twist". The game seemed completely fair with normal rules; no "twist" that I could figure out. No side bets other than traditional proposition bets unless I missed it. Your odds bets are turned off during the come-out, even playing 'the Don't', but you can turn both ways on and off as you please. The game stopped after the last roll [shown on your screen by a video of the dice under the dome] and then this roll was simulated and announced electronically [not by bartender], all taking about 5 seconds. Then there is a count-down of 25 more seconds till the next roll, which takes a few seconds. So there is a constant pace of something less than 120 rolls per hour, but probably more than 100; IIRC this pace is similar to a real table when full, and slower than a near empty real table. It was 3x4x5x when I was there as well; 100x indicated a 32 second cycle in his report.

Indeed the 50 cent increment is playable on a different bet once you make the minimum bet. So I would sometimes add DC bets for 50 cents. The Casino isn't stupid, though, get this: I allowed my $5 line bet to be resolved and left some DC bets for 50c plus odds up, with less than $5 risked [actually by accident]. I realized this as the dice were rolled and watched my DC bets go away! OK, the money was returned to me, but at that point I had the odds on my side on those bets! Grrr! Maybe I finally found the "twist"!

I failed to find out what would happen to a right bettor accidentally staying less than minimum on a come bet that strung out, although for sure a 7-out is a loser.

Player's Club : Info handed to me said:

$1 coin in=1 pt
$2 coin in=1 pt for "electronic table games"
600=$1 free slot play or comps

Not so hot. As far as I could tell, though, your free odds counted as coin-in, so Craps players catch a break!? I wound up forgetting to check this out for sure, sorry.

Maryland reported results for its most recent casino which apparently does not yet have table games or its Entertainment area, just slots.

For the "Month" (opened june sixth) of June:

revenue of more than $1 million a day

Gambling operations at Maryland Live Casino brought in $28.5 million or nearly 70 percent of the state's total gaming revenue in June.

The operation's gross gambling revenue was $359.27 per day per machine.

.....
So what will happen after table games go in and the nightclub part is opened?

dont think table games are going in.
the state rejected a proposal by Price Georges county (the next county over) to have a tables games casino to differentiate it from MAryland Live.

as for the nightclub, i dont know how it'll affect the gambling.
but i'll be there at least once for the eyecandy. a lot of night club girls wear very little :)

and 70% of the states gambling revenue?!
including the lottery + scratchoffs?!
WOW!
Craps is paradise (Pair of dice). Lets hear it for the SpeedCount Mathletes :)

Yeah, I've noticed that too. And that is exactly how the nightclub area will affect the casino...drawing men in even more and being a place for an evening's entertainment for couples. Attendance will increase.

Yeah, I know the Governor was making stupid statements and trying to get someone to agree to a table games arrangment.

I've posted about this in more than one thread, and blogged about it; M-Live keeps putting money on my account. I keep saying I am not going back anytime soon, but they keep giving me money to do so.

We aren't talking about a lot of money, but it's the principle of the thing: whatever the amount, it is still way beyond what my play should be earning. And it doesnt cover my cost of transportation, but I am willing to put the Ol' Blind Eye on that part, what the hell.

I'm starting to wonder if I am stupidly getting this wrong. The EV of a $5 line bet in craps is about minus 7 cents, right???? The money is not cash, OK, but it certainly can be spent directly for betting. Am I not seeing some kind of gambler fallacy????

It is certainly true that they have had the last laugh, I havent walked out of there a winner after 2 trips. That just might be the case for a long time, who knows? But if they keep paying me to do so, I will keep trying, like I say, it is the principle of the thing.

Should someone be trying to talk me out of this?

Takes me about 45 minutes to get there from my house.

I saw your comment, thanks, it's good to know someone is reading. The nature of a blog seems to be, you just blog, anybody reading or not [and not everyone one reading has something to add]. But it is good to get comments.

Sunday does seem to be the day to check. Although it is almost surely pure Bot, they will say they miss you or hey thanks for playing in an email. That simple little thing puts them light years ahead of plenty of places.

The rest I put in a PM to you.

but I wanted to say I tried the buffet and it is really, really good. Best buffet I have been to in a long time. Will probably blog about it soon.

Boy did MD Live step in it today....I (like most M-Live card players) got a $100 free play offer in celebration of the final phase of the casino opening. I tried to stop by, but every highway leading to the casino was snarled for at least a mile in each direction. Furthermore, the free play was only valid 11:00-12:30, and allegedly was only valid on the 1000 new machines opened up today. I just gave up, since I knew if the traffic was that bad, the casino would be even worse.

On their Facebook page, all I saw was a bunch of angry customers who felt slighted. At 4PM, the casino said they'd extend the free play to 5PM, but by then I'd already given up on trying to go. Very poorly planned promotion, if you ask me. I've been to MD Live, and the casino is as nice as any generic east coast (non-AC) casino I've been to (about the caliber of Parx), but with Harrah's coming to Baltimore in about a year with Total Rewards, a 3700 machine casino, and the World Series of Poker tie-ins (assuming MD votes for table games in November), MD Live better get its ducks in a row with promotions.

I did manage to get in and will blog about it later. IMO they did a real stupid thing. This promotion with this narrow little window of time was idiotic, un-neighborly, unsafe for the roads, and unclear as to what it was, this "sneak peek". The website never mentioned the 12th as having any event.

They must have given away more than $100,000, easy, no doubt more, in free play.
