Applies to Atlantic City cards only.

Show 'em your higher tier card and get $25, $50, or $100, depending on what tier. I showed by Caesars diamond card and got $50 slot play. Friend showed her Borgata black label card and got $100. All slots are "video lottery terminals", by the way... which means they suck. Video poker games have the "genie" feature.

Since they are lottery machines, there's no way to know what the payout is.

According to Wikipedia, NY law requires VLTs to return at least 92%, so that's probably what they return.

Was there Saturday night 03/31. Have 9/6 JoB at the machines around the bar on the second floor by the huge TV screen lounge. .25/.50/1.00 on the north side of the bar toward the garage, 1.00/2.00 on the south side of the bar. Machines on the floor were either 8/5 or they were 9/6 but paying only even money for 2 pairs. Didn't check machines on the first floor. A Borgata black card or a Trump black card will get you $100, but it takes them about an hour to process it to your account.

so what is JB talking about lottery terminals for VP?

and it seems like .25 or $2 JoB is the best bet.
.25 to avoid the w2-G if u get a royal, and $2 because u might as well get max $ if you are going to get a w2-g

Basically the machines are more akin to slot machines. These machines are not dealt from a true virtual deck. Instead a server in the back-of-house decides what payout you're going to get via RNG and either gives you that hand outright or a hand that, after you discard the obvious discards, will provide the predetermined hand.

For example if the server decides you get quads it might deal you trips. If you discard either of the other two you get your quads. If you discard one of the cards that form the trips it'll either give you back that card plus another to make quads or a magic genie will appear and "fix" your hand so you get quads.

If it decided your "hand" would lose, then no matter what initial hand you get and what cards you discard, your result will be a losing hand. Since I work at a casino I very rarely ever use the term "rigged" but I don't know how else to describe them.

In a nutshell, they're not really VP machines. There's a lot more to it in regards to pooling other players' money to form the payout pool and such but you can look that up on Wikipedia.

It is not 9/6 JoB, even if the name and paytable indicate that it is.

Every “hand” you play is like scratching off a virtual lottery ticket. With a physical lottery ticket, it doesn’t matter how you scratch it; whatever is printed underneath the gunk has already been printed there. Likewise, with the video representation, it doesn't matter what cards you hold; the outcome has already been determined. The name "Jacks or Better" and the 9/6 paytable are merely for show. It is like a $1 lottery ticket with possible prizes of $1, $2, $3, $4, $6, $9, $25, $50, and $800.

This is the nature of Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs). Every time you press the button, the machine retrieves a random ticket from a virtual box of tickets. As soon as the box is empty, a new (full) one replaces it.

Consider the following hypothetical structure for a virtual box which contains 1,000,000 tickets, disguised as 9/6 Jacks or Better. The game operator is guaranteed an 8% profit once all of the virtual tickets in the virtual box have been sold:

Symbol* Prize Tickets Probability Return
Royal Flush 800 128 0.000128 0.102400
Straight Flush 50 2,040 0.002040 0.102000
Four of a Kind 25 4,089 0.004089 0.102225
Full House 9 11,362 0.011362 0.102258
Flush 6 17,037 0.017037 0.102222
Straight 4 25,557 0.025557 0.102228
Three of a Kind 3 34,074 0.034074 0.102222
Two Pair 2 51,111 0.051111 0.102222
One Pair 1 102,223 0.102223 0.102223
Blank 0 752,379 0.752379 0.000000
Totals 1,000,000 1.000000 0.920000

* Note how I called it a symbol, because that's what it is: a symbol representing something that it is not. These games are disguised as video poker or slot machines to make people think they're playing something other than lottery tickets.

Resorts World is one of several "casinos" in New York that are nothing more than an extension of the New York Lottery.

You can see rigged casino game reports directly at the NY Lottery's web site.

jb,

800 x 5 = 4000 coins at max coin-in which is standard.
all the other payouts look like 9/6 JoB.

What got nerfed to get only 92%?

I don't know for sure if the payout is set to 92%; that's the minimum payback required by law, so I assumed that's what they are paying back, because why would they choose to earn less than what the law lets them earn?

Even if the paytable makes the machine look like it offers 9/6 Jacks or Better, it does not mean that it does. Class II machines are playing bingo behind the scenes but presenting the outcome as something different. These particular games are run by the New York Lottery. They are not the random Class III machines you would find in places like Vegas, Atlantic City, Foxwoods, Mohegan, etc.

As someone else mentioned, Class II "video poker" machines have a "genie" feature to negate whatever strategy decision you make, since your final hand (after the draw) was determined as soon as you placed your bet. This is why I think it is fair game to label these machines as "rigged" -- the act of discarding and drawing cards is just for show; the machine already knows your final hand.

If JB's reply didn't fully answer the question you had in mind, consider this: the number of tickets that win in each category (hand) is biased more toward the lower payouts than what you get with randomly dealt cards and a proper hold/draw strategy. If they chose to, and if the law allowed, they could "print tickets" to keep you from ever getting anything higher than two pair, no matter how well you played the game.

I'll add that my first post above seemed to imply that the VLTs were pulling virtual lottery tickets off a virtual roll, whereas my second post (about the Class II machines playing bingo instead) is probably more accurate, based on this Wikipedia page:

Quote: Wikipedia

Racinos differ from traditional VLTs in that all video lottery games are played on a Class II gaming machine. Class II games are played in a traditional Bingo format. Other states that have legalized Class II VLTs in racinos are Delaware, Rhode Island, Louisiana, New York, and West Virginia.

One more thing abut resorts world:

their cash out for electronic craps is odd.
- if you hold down less than 1 sec, the transaction is canceled. i understand this. this is to prevent accidental cash outs.
- but you must hold down the cash out button for like 5sec to get your full payout.
- there's something inbetween. i scrolled too fast for me to read all of it but if u hold 2-4 sec, u get a partial payout.

how much is the partial payout? and whats the point of it?
