Revel hits rock bottom?

My wife has been to Revel several times, and plays a lot of slots. She got an offer for free rooms, any night of the week.

I was there exactly twice. The day after the soft opening, and on a Friday night this past Spring. On both occasions, I played a little at table games, no slots, and several hours of poker. I got an offer for free rooms, Sunday thru Thursday.

Mind you, Revel closed their poker room, so I don't know why I'd be going there except for the free room.

Here's what I am saying: Apple pie is not hard to get. It's $4 at the supermarket. Anyone who wants pie, already has pie.

What is the intersection of people who:

1. Want pie
2. Don't already have pie or plans to obtain pie
3. Want to gamble in a casino
4. Can afford to gamble in a casino

?

Who is going to get this postcard and say to himself, you know I was going to play at Caesar's but I think I'll head to Revel for that pie?

The value of an apple pie is $4. It's not worth stopping at Revel to pick up a pie.

The only possible way this promotion makes sense is if you live closer to the Revel than you do to anywhere that sells pie. And even in that case you have to want pie.

This thread was started because of all the assertion-driven bad press some have given it due to "cheating and unethical behavior" by mosty whining losers over that extraordinary $100k rebate promo. I say that because no one has proven anything different. Fact is, Revel is a beautiful resort with opportunities for the intelligent player. The pies obviously are targeting old people, but I've seen people with money go much further out of their way for total junk.

If the pies are targeting old people, why did they send that postcard to someone in his 20s? Does Revel's computer not understand how to compute ages from dates of birth?

By the way, the point of this thread was to note how far Revel has fallen from its opening days as a snooty "destination resort" -- and now they have "resorted" to handing out apple pies at their box office to drum up penny slot business.

Many, many other factors:
Quality. You have to want pie of unknown quality, as opposed to a more distant, good pie.
Distance. Mom's delicious pie is closer, but Mom is always after you about the gambling, and you have to spend time visiting to get pie.
Storage. Good pie has a short shelf life. Really good pie is still warm. Assuming you must take possession of said pie at the beginning of your visit, what provisions are made to hold the pie at the gaming table?
Delivery. From personal experience, pit bosses frown upon the consumption of food items (donuts, bagels, pizzas, ribs, takeout dinners, etc.) not provided by the casino, at least at the lower denomination tables I freguent. Pie, provided by the establishment, might qualify as hospitality that can be enjoyed while gaming.
Spillage. Have you seen what happens when someone spills a drink on a blackjack table? Pie is less liquid, but it is an eating experience more prone to...
Sanitation. Ever try to remove pie from playing cards?

The casino also has an exposure here. A photo of said pie is provided. I am reminded of a movie with Michael Douglas as it's main character, who went beserk and at one point pulled a gun on a McDonald's server, demanding that he be provided with a meal that looked like the one pictured on the menu board. Hmm... We need to calculate the odds of a member of the gambler class being prone to such behavior. Higher than average.

H17, S17, DAS, ES. ACS. 6D, 8D. And now... FP or NP (Free Pie, No Pie).

I think they may have hit on something, if they can work all this out.

I can't see the details on my phone, so have to assume the pie is in fact only worth $4. Pies normally anything decent usually cost about $10, but if my grandmother was still alive, a reasonable price would be $15-20. That would be a good promo offering a pie which is really good, but people deny themselves from having because they can't justify the additional cost.

Yeah, at the Venetian or Palazzo... otherwise no casino wants quality or a pie by a famous chef other than perhaps Mrs. Smith.

I'll take a shot at this. You...

1. Swiped your Revel card at the kiosk
2. Got the 100X Resort Dollar multiplier
3. Played $5 9/6 video poker until you earned the maximum number of eligible Resort Dollars ($200)
4. Hit a $20,000 royal flush
5. Collected $20,000 in base and bonus Resort Dollars
6. Asked Scott Kreeger if he needed a job on your way out

How'd I do?
