Turns out my business partners didn't need me to fly with them. Instead, I get a 10 day paid vacation and 100% room/board reimbursement!

So why not stay at Revel for 9 nights, 10 days? Checking in tonight, checking out NEXT Wednesday!

Trip updates in this thread... let's do this!

Thanks Beardgoat!

I'm in my early 20's.

Revel/DirectTV decides to black out the Heat/Magic game on ESPN due to the storm. Revel Audio/Visual got over 100 complaints between 6PM and 9 PM EST. LOL, are you serious?

-$350 playing craps betting $10 pass line and 3/4/5 odds and 3 come bets.

Day 1 ends at -$1,550. Trip is now -$1,550.

I seriously think you and I have consumed (or banked) the majority of their bottled sparkling waters this month. Considering most people don't know they even have those.

I can't believe you lost a $200 hand with the Wong and chong bo. That is rough. Teen wong and mooy pair for the dealer?

That was exactly the dealer's hand, sodawater. I was pipped on both the high and the low. Dealer might as well have been Mike McDermott with a steel wheel in Stud 8.

And you're probably right about nobody knowing. When I ordered today, two guys were staring at their little sippy cup 4oz bottles and thinking WTF? :)

But a 25 cent FPDW machine at, say Palms, is always one of the best games in Las Vegas. My parents haven't played past the 5 cent level, and they've been going to casinos for 15 years. $20.00 is considered a HUGE win for them.

Interesting situation today where I banked $100 and another player bet $50. He proceeded to expose his tiles to the dealer (new player). He had L8 11 H10 H7. Dealer advised him to play 7-9, which he did.

I had H6 Gee H10 L10.

Let's play a game: what would you do?

These 2 situations happened today.

Casino A: I ordered room service, which came to about $40. This casino charges an auto-gratuity of 20% of the order (before tax), which is split between all the guys who bring the food up to the room and kitchen staff (I had ordered room service 4 days in a row, and the previous 3 servers all have verified this). When this Indian gentlemen brings the food up, everything is normal. Then, he passes me the bill to sign, and points out that the $8 auto-gratuity goes to the "cook and person handling the phone calls".

I play along and say "so you don't get anything?"

He responds no, and gives a story of how he has 4 kids and recently immigrated from India.

What would you do or say next?

Casino B: I go and eat lunch at this casino's VIP lounge. I get 2 plates of food and sit down at a table perfectly visible to the waitresses. Three of them pass by through my 20 minute meal, no one offers a drink. I finish and decide to go up to the bartender and get a glass of wine. A waitress rushes by (I later verify that she was taking care of the section including my table) and asks "can I get you anything to drink?" It's clear that she knows I've sat down and gotten food. I mean, what waitress takes your drink order when you haven't sat down yet/just swiped your card to come in the lounge?

I tell her no thanks, I've finished eating already, then proceed to ask the bartender. Bartender pours the drink, I tip him a $5, walk out the door. Waitress may or may not have seen me order from the bartender.

What would you have said?

Do you leave a tip on the table with your dirty dishes?

Is it OK in the future to just get your drink from the bartender, tip him, and leave nothing on the table with your finished plates (assuming you are not sitting at the bar)?

Situation A is such a scam. This happened to me at the Revel, as well, the first time I stayed there in 2012. I wound up giving the guy an extra $5 because I didn't know any better.

In your specific case, I would have called his bluff and offered to get in-room dining on the phone to verify his claim that the foodrunners don't receive any of the autograt. Pretty sure he would have abandoned that claim.

This is why, at the Borgata, they have a giant stamp in red ink that says GRATUITY INCLUDED whenever you sign for room service. I think it says that on Revel's receipts as well, but in the normal font and color in small print.

B -- I usually tip buffet waitresses a dollar a drink. Since she didn't bring you any drinks... well. $0.

Is this your first experience eating out? After 2min
goes by you get the attention of somebody by
waving, saying HEY in a loud voice, whatever you
have to do. They bring the drink.

I went to the buffet the other day with my wife. They sat us in section 1. I noticed that there wasn't anyone taking a drink order. Then I saw the waiter from section 2 come over and he took a drink order from the table next to me and he also took my drink order. He just was waiting on those two tables. He went and brought our drinks to our table. A while later, the waitress for our section came out with a tray full of drinks for the tables in our section. I figured that she was back logged with drinks and that he came over to help her by taking care of my table and the table next to me.

When it came time to leave, I felt that the waiter that came over from section 2 should get the tip and not the waitress in section 1 because she had not served us.

I walked over to section 2 and handed the waiter the tip and told him that I felt he deserved the tip and not the waitress in section 1. He thanked me and said that it was okay to leave her the tip because -------------- "SHE'S MY WIFE"!!!!

We both laughed about it and when I went back to section 1 to get my wife, who was still at our table, I told her what happened and we laughed about the fact that our waitress was his wife. We got up to leave and we could see the waiter talking to his wife and laughing. She saw us leaving and laughingly said that she always gets the money!!!

And all the bums are coming in from the Boardwalk for the Revel Easter Hunt. When you combine high incentives such as prizes of $50+ with low opportunity cost, well, that's Microeconomics 101.

I'm not understanding this. Chauncy is giving us trip
reports every day, then just stops suddenly 4 days ago.
Yet he's been here every day, I checked every day. He
logged in today already, yet has no comments on his
trip.

If this is your idea of a good way to do things, Chauncy,
keep your reports to yourself. At least with Ace we got
reliability, not nonsense like this.
