If you think the house is taxed to high you can call the town/city hall and have the house reassessed.
First you need to look at what they are taxing. Are they taxing a porch or outbuilding that no longer exists?
What are they assessing your house for?
You need to find your towns Mil rate (the tax percentage tax) and what the town has assessed your home.

You can appeal. The town should tell you how.
Some places have very high tax rates so the real question is property value. If the assessment (towns take on the property value) is higher than you paid you can appeal on that basis. You can find the assessed value on your property tax record.
It can take years for this process to be completed. Each town is diffrent. During this time you must (unless town says otherwise IN WRITING) pay the tax bill. If you win they would then give you a credit.
I was told a story. Don't know if it's true but the point of the story is important. This couple bought a property and the first prop. tax bill had their land worth more than double what they paid. They appealed and won. It took about two years for them to win. They however made the mistake of not paying the tax in full. They paid what they thought was fair. The town gave a credit for the difference in tax, and then finned them every penny they could for not paying the bill on time in the first place. The last I heard they went to court to fight the interest and penalties.
The lesson is simple towns will get $ any way they can. Follow the rules for where you live.
Good luck

Property tax isn't based on what you paid for the home. It's based on what it's worth. Maybe you got a good deal.

Tarrant County, Fort Worth, TX just instituted online appeals two years ago. This article even compares it to AP:

But yeah, OP, an appeal is your only chance to lower it. Find out the procedure of your county.

You should have been informed what the taxes are BEFORE you purchased the house.
At any rate, you can, as others suggested, attempt to get the house re-appraised.
Do some investigating before you do so. FInd out what your neighbors are paying. Find out what their houses are appraised for.
Frankly, these are things that you should have found out before you purchased - and something that the next buyer might investigate as well.
If you get your appraisal lowered, you might not be able to sell the house at the right price when that time comes.

If you bought the house on the open market within the past year or so the best you can hope for is that the assessed value is set at the purchase price. As others said, the millage rate is what it is and cannot be changed.
If you do decide to file a written appeal I would suggest having someone else help you write it. I count at least 4 errors in usage in your two line post. Appeals boards will not take kindly to that.
To all, FWIW an appeal can be worth the time. I just got my parent's assessed value lowered by about 10%.

And remember that property tax is apportioned based on the town/county's appraisal of your house versus all the other houses in their jurisdiction. If you and everyone else in your town successfully appeal your valuations, then everyone's valuation will go down but your valuation relative to everyone else's will stay the same and your property tax will come out roughly the same. The town/county will get their money either way.

Was it well played? Isn't your impression of the OP low enough to make it highly unlikely that you'll ever use the advertised service?

'Well played' is a sarcastic compliment to a troll. He made me respond as if it were a serious post, therefore he was successful at trolling, but as you say maybe less successful at advertising.
