Man, I dunno. My first words after it ended were, "That's it?"

There was some real possibility there, but they took the easy way out. It was like watching a comic book, and not in a good way, not like Road to Perdition, or A History of Violence. Linear plot, no twists, tugged heartstrings, flat, non-dimensional characters (the CGI apes were more expressive than James Franco)... and requiring a HUGE amount of disbelief, not in the premise (where disbelief is assumed), but in the plot mechanics; I just don't believe that a couple hundred apes couldn't be stopped from crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. Even on short notice.

That being said, it wasn't a waste of time. The CGI apes are marvelous, and the cinematography is truly first class. The use of space, especially windows and walls, is fantastic.

Overall I give it a C. There's a good skeleton that no one put any flesh to, with a nice skin on it all. I could have REALLY liked this, instead I was sort of dissatisfied. Mostly because it could have been so much better.

I kept comparing Caesar to Gollum since it was the same actor. The film never got me involved in the story. I was waiting for Jane Curtain to show up and yell at John Lithgow.
Someday, joor goin' to see the name of Googie Gomez in lights and joor goin' to say to joorself, "Was that her?" and then joor goin' to answer to joorself, "That was her!" But you know somethin' mister? I was always her yuss nobody knows it! - Googie Gomez

The newest version of "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" was light years better than the original.

It was OK. I'd rather see people in ape costumes
than CGI, though. It puts me to sleep. Like Gollum
in LOTR. I went to sleep whenever he was on the
screen. I don't like cartoons mixed with the real
thing. Or the big walking trees. Boring. The big
reason is, the actors are in front of a blue screen,
the puppet/cartoon isn't really there. They have
to act and pretend its there, and it shows.

Well, Super 8 is up next.

I was just expecting and hoping for so much more from Rise.

Yeah, they have to act, and no one wants to see that!

But I agree, the walking trees in the 2nd LOTR about ruined it for me.

And I got Rise of POTA from NetFlix and was disappointed. I wanted to like it, and saw it with 3 other people, and I was the one picking it apart. Super 8 I fear might be too much of a kid's flick for me. Also recently got Battle: Los Angeles (horrible) and The Mechanic (also really horrible). Still have Skyline yet to watch.

Its all acting. The acting in front of a blue
screen is harder, thats all. And it shows.

I thought 'Super 8' sucked, just my opinion.
