Between the way Jimi dressed and the fact that there are no little Jimis, perhaps it was the rest of us who misheard the lyrics.

Hmm, I compared several Boy George photos to Hendrix and don't see whatever you're seeing. And though he might be compared to Liberace, there's severe lack of flashy rhinestones.
