The original plan for WOVCon was for it to be held at the Palace Station on June 15th. I dont know if it is the preferred location for everyone, but it was the location of the first Wizard Coffee Meet, so had a good basis for being chosen for WOVCon 1.

On the downside it isnt the most accesible place for anyone out of town/without a car, although some people did graciously offer rides if I remember rightly.

Anyway, I thought I would throw it open to attendees and possible attendees, where would you like to meet up. If its not too much trouble, please put your reasons why you chose the place.

If you would prefer somewhere else please put it in your post, and either vote for your second/third choice and say why.

Thanks in advance from your WOVCon organising commitee.

I'm not going to vote, because I can show up anywhere. However, the two of those that I think would be the most suitable are Hooters and the Main Street Station. Since my review, Hooters has shown a lot of improvement. In particular, a real 3-2 single-deck game, with a Hooters girl dealing. However, Hooters is rather touristy and crowded. The Main Street Station is cheap, a nice size, and the Brew Pub is a darn good place to eat and drink.

I like MSS because the rooms are nice but inexpensive, the BrewPub and the buffet are both very good, and the video poker is decent. They also have 20X odds for the crapshooters here.

BTW, I voted Main Street Station. The 777 Brewpub is worth the visit alone.

If memory serves, because it's way too early in the morning for a forum search, that location was chosen because the casino has a cheap game of Pai Gow tiles. I do recall the reoprts of the meet mentioned playing tiles.

Of course we know our esteemed host's love for tiles, and several among us have picked up the game with his help, but I wonder if it will be a factor for WoVCon 1. Me, I don't understand tiles.

Anyway, perhaps it's a good time to repost the program (or is it programme?)

I don't recall the details, but I did look up how to get there by bus and it wasn't that difficult. Maybe time-consuming if you're coming from the southern and central parts of the Strip, but not that big a deal.

In any case, a location on the Strip or Downtown is more accessible.

I was kind of warming up to Palace Station because they have cheap tiles and the Wizard has a ton of points there. I don't know if he was planning on treating everyone, so maybe that doesn't factor into it much. I would be fine with anywhere else. Main Street is a nice alternative choice, and it is pretty easy to find 2-for-1's for the buffet.

We're well overdue for a bump.

Let's see...

I'll try a couple of Babylon 5 jokes:

Q: Why did the Minbari cross the road?
A: Understanding is not necessary, only obedience.

Q: How many Marsies does it take to screw-in a light bulb?
A: You will not touch that light bulb 'til the sands run red with Earther blood!

So the date is still June 15th at 2 pm?

Can't have too much publicity. If experience is any kind of guide, we'll hear of people who didn't attend because they didn't know ;)

I will be stepping publicity up a gear shortly. I will be more regularly bumping the WoVCon thread, as well as putting together a few more polls.

Im just curious, what are we doing at the convention? I think we should all wear name tags with our user names on them, I want to see a face to some of the trouble makers here.

That's really up to the organizing commitee, i.e. Croupier.

But I imagine we'll find a table at the MSS pub and talk and get to know each other. Then we can move to the casino. If there are enough of us, we could get an all-WoV poker game, or gang up on the craps table. Personally I'd like to see an all-WoV BJ table and see whether anyone complains about someone else's play :P And if this goes on long enough, we could get together for dinner somewhere nice. I expect we'll take pictures, too (at least I will).

Oh, another thing I'd like to do is go to the Pinball Hall of Fame again. I'd love to go with some of the users here likely to attend.

Good idea. I'll pass it on to the comitee ;)

It's to abd we're not doing this for Halloween. Then we could all come as JerryLogan :P
