No one seems to be talking about what might have happened last night if Trump and his cronies had boycotted the diner, as usual. Would Security have been at a level needed to stop the would-be assassin from shooting up the dinner?
The President, by his mere presence, prevented a massacre of the elite of the press corps. If that doesn't get him a Defender of the Free Press award, nothing will.

That's one of those questions that requires prediction of the unpredictable, like "What would have happened if [an earlier head of state] had been admitted to art school?" If the President had chosen not to go it's unknown if the shooter (who is abnormal) would have behaved in the same way. Or if perhaps someone else might have. Or if the shooter would have chosen some other target.

Apparently, the goal of the gunman was to burst through the doors and run down the main aisle, shooting as many people as he can. A little research would have shown him that those doors are locked during the event.

So on a forum of retards in a country generally reknowned for being inbred and hostile to the very idea of education and intelligence, is being discussed the potential assassination of a man widely considered to be in the advanced stages of senile dementia and probably the dumbest man ever elected to political office, and you surprised somehow that the shooter wasn't the sharpest ninja?

Do you people have any self-awareness at all? Do you not know that everyone else thinks you are dangerously, moronically stupid? Like, everyone. Did you not notice entire continents shunning you all of a sudden?

For that matter, what if there had not been the attempt on Reagan? Watch tape of that and see how close people could get to POTUS vs. after. Even at a WH presser POTUS used to come out a side door, now he comes from the back. Would people be allowed closer to Trump if security had not changed.

Is anyone else getting crank PMs on here? Twice in about a week, person suspended by the time I opened them. Do we have another former member off the deep end?

No. The last two PMs I recieved were from people offering me a paid gig writing for their site. I assume it was either a joke or spam.

Verbal assault generally on political lines. My guess is some former member that was banned or something and too much time on their hands.

We do indeed have a former member who has been conducting a one-person cyberattack on the site. In the past several months he has created greater than 100 socks and has been posting vicious attacks on the moderators, EB and other members. The messages have also contained anti-Jewish and anti-American content. Dieter and I (mostly Dieter) have been nuking these socks as promptly as we can.

If you receive objectionable Personal Messages from socks, please consider forwarding them to me (or to Dieter). We will immediately take action and the information may be useful to us.

Daniel Kinahan, an Irish organized crime boss was just arrested in Dubai and will be extradited back to Ireland which he fled to avoid arrest and retaliatory violence from a gang his gang had been feuding with

his enerprise was so large that the U.S. offered a reward of up to $15 million for his capture and the capture of his brother and father

"AI Overview

The U.S. government announced in April 2022 a reward of up to $15 million for information leading to the arrest or conviction of Daniel Kinahan and two other senior leaders of the Kinahan Organized Crime Group (his father, Christy, and brother, Christopher Jr.), with $5 million specifically targeting Daniel Kinahan.

This action, part of a major international crackdown, followed the group's designation as a significant transnational criminal organization.

Key Details on the Reward and Case:

Target: Daniel Kinahan, along with his father Christy and brother Christopher Jr., has been targeted for his role in running a $1 billion criminal enterprise

.Offered By: The U.S. Department of State, in conjunction with the DEA and Treasury Department, offered the reward.

Allegations: The group is accused of running a "deadly global cartel" involved in large-scale narcotics trafficking, money laundering, and firearms trafficking.

Sanctions: As of 2026, the individuals are subject to ongoing international sanctions following the 2022 announcement, which was unveiled in Dublin by U.S. and Irish authorities.

Status: In April 2026, it was reported that Daniel Kinahan was arrested in Dubai, following an arrest warrant for alleged serious organised crime offenses.

Key Reasons for Fleeing Ireland:

The Regency Hotel Attack (2016):

Daniel Kinahan was the target of a high-profile shooting at a boxing weigh-in, which triggered an all-out gang war.

Daniel Kinahan was primarily feuding with the Hutch criminal organization, led by Gerry "The Monk" Hutch, in a violent conflict known as the Hutch–Kinahan feud. This dispute, which began in 2015-2016 following the murder of Gary Hutch in Spain, resulted in at least 18 deaths and involved retaliatory shootings between the two factions in Ireland and Spain

Safety and Security:

Following the assassination attempt, which saw gunmen attack, he was no longer safe in Ireland and faced a high risk of being killed.

Evading Law Enforcement: He was sought by Irish authorities in connection with his role at the head of a major drug cartel and was linked to murder plots in the ongoing feud.

Relocation to Dubai: He moved to the UAE, to evade investigation, maintain control of his international criminal organization, and utilize a jurisdiction that was, at the time, less accessible to European authorities."

On May 4th 1970, Ohio National Guard members opened fire on unarmed demonstrators at Kent State, killing four and wounding almost a dozen people. No one was ever heard to be liable for the attack, although the families were eventually given $675,000.
A week after the shootings, the local police conducted a search of every dorm and locker on campus. The suit for illegal search and seizure reached the Supreme Court and established the rights students have in such situations.
Another suit arising from the massacre established the rights of students to vote where they attend school, even if they are from a different state.
The shooting galvanized public opinion against the war and set off many protests about being old enough to get drafted but not being able to vote or buy liquor in some states.

Not worth a thread.

I will be traveling in Canada next month and want to bring back some items that you cannot get here.

Do they still sell AC&C pills "at the counter?" And is there a low-codeine cough syrup sold the same way? If so I want to stock up. Any other OTC/ATC meds Canada has that the USA doesn't?

I will get Aero bar and coffee crisp. Any other candy ideas?

Anything else at WMT worth grabbing?

Smarties .... All dressed chips

.... Google buying 222 pills in Canada for information on codeine pills availability. Was once prescribed Tylenol 4s as T 3s were not doing the job . Two T4 at a time worked well for the month you could take them. 50 mg tramadol pill worked great also on my massive neck pain. 26 times in traction solved the issue and no longer need them for the past 14 yrs.
