Since I never embed YT videos, I thought I'd give it a try.
Here are The Headless Chickens from New Zealand in 1993 with Cruise Control.
I'm shopping online for cars and my latest pick was taken off the market via recall, and others like it are under fire danger recalls.

I.had never heard much h of Roberta flack. I listened to the song and it was very pretty. I forgot the bad company version was from the straight shooter album. Very appropriate with the craps reference for this site. I just remember hearing it a lot on the classic rock radio stations during the 80s growing up

The video says that Billy Preston was part of the performance. So, I guess he must be the keyboardist to the left of Ray Charles but he's so young he's unrecognizable to me.

I don't know my absolute favorite but it's definitely something rock related such as...
it depends on the day.

I refuse to be that person laundering in the past only listening to old outdated crap.

Not 100% sure why(so many reasons), but I really like this simple jam nowadays.

Let's catch up to 2020+

it's really a shame that you would put down the music other people like whatever the era
all you had to do if you didn't like it was skip over it and post what you do like - easy as pie - but no - you had to display your imaginary superiority
I wouldn't put down your music
don't know what "laundering" 'in the past' means

I did not put down the music or the people who listen to it, you took my post that way for some odd reason. I too like some older music, I like all kinds of different genres and eras of music. I just refuse to be someome who only lingers in the past.

I don't even understand why you think my post was directed at you, because I wasn't even thinking about you or anyone when I made my post.

When I truly listen to music and not just use it as background, it often takes me back to some moment in my life. New music doesn't have that association.
Over the weekend, I heard a band play a rocking version of Torn Between Two Lovers, a country song from the late 1970s. I hadn't heard it in perhaps thirty years and it reminded me of having my school girlfriend while still being with my hometown girl.
Given a choice between listening to classic music and remembering the past or listening to new music, I'll stick with the old stuff.
New music isn't written for 65 year olds, nor should it be.
The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction is supposed to make sense.

I have so many songs that I love, but when asked to name one, "The Coffee Song" by Frank Sinatra comes to mind. I actually got tired of Sinatra for a period, but I still love this song. It's subtle comedy, which is a nice contrast to the "Weird Al" Yankovic humor that I usually listen to.

Holy cow Ed, I doubt that I have listened to that many songs in my whole life.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Interesting lists, Ed there are a few on there I've not heard of (Anna Kendrick only made #71 in the UK) but a lot of good ones.

Personally my favs come from 70-80s such as ABBA, Kylie Minogue, Sharon Redd, Carly Simon etc.

this one is off the beaten path
not trying to push religion on anyone
I'm not a believer
but I find this very peaceful, calming and beautiful
if I'm uptight for any reason I can put this on and immediately feel better

Post Modern Jukebox has been churning out covers for quite awhile. Here's a tearjerker for Radiohead fans. The song was done originally in 1995, but this cover was done in late 2018.

Figures that GNR would be your fav group. I can see you with a mullet in the early 90s. 😅 My peer group we were never into head banging music, not that GNR is necessarily head banging I actually like them, but I am sure there are some Iron Maiden (or the 90s equivalent) and other heavy metal skeletons in your closet, you seem like the type.

Music has an absolute value, it's doesn't matter if it is old or new. I can listen to the first few seconds of a song and decide whether it is worth playing.

Of those newer songs you posted, the Cannons, Fire for You is good. The Gayle, abcdefu sucks. I like her eyes though, they look like someone's I know. If you like that kind of music you might as well listen to Olivia Rodrigo, who is good actually even if she does sample/steal a lot of her licks: "It's how rock and roll works."

You know how you know when you're no longer a youngster, is you read a YouTube comment on a song: "Wow, this song unlocks so many memories for me, when i was little i loved this song so much" and the 11 years prior to the comment when the song came out seems like just yesterday.

Human by The Human League Human is beautiful, haunting, chilling, calming, soothing, ethereal, it's just wow in a good way. 😀 I love Human the song! 😀 It was my favorite song in the whole world at one point, but an 80's Radio Station constantly KEPT playing Human and I actually begun to resent Human when it used to be my favorite song in the whole world. It's now one of my favorite songs, not my sole favorite song anymore thanks to overplay by that blasted 80's Station. 😒

It would be hard to pick a completely favorite 80s song, but this one from The Cure pretty much closed out the 80s. 1989.

"Music" doesn't have to be all about lyrics or even anything orchestrated. It might just be a distinctive sound. The Lighthouse (2019).

"Tonight" from the musical "West Side Story"______________what a genius Leonard Bernstein was
a lot going on in this song

"The Jets are gonna have their day tonight
the Jets are gonna have their way tonight
The Puerto Ricans grumble - fair fight
but if they start a rumble - we'll rumble 'em right

the Jets are comin' out on top tonight
We're gonna watch Bernardo drop tonight

Anita's gonna get her kicks tonight
We'll have our little private mix tonight"

Mark & Brian were top morning radio hosts in Los Angeles in the early 1990's. They were clout chasers at the time and even got their own TV show for a time.

Here in 2019 they showed up for the 50th anniversary of KLOS, nationally known for the weekly radio show Rockline which was broadcast around the nation on local FM stations in the 1980's which featured top band interviews of the day. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockline

I love roots blues music

The judge decreed it, the clerk he wrote it.
Clerk he wrote it down indeed-e

Give you this jail sentence you'll be Nashville bound
