One of my older cats died unexpectedly last night. They do that. They just die. That is why I have so many cats, so we can console each other. It softens the blow.

Sorry to hear that Bob. Sometimes the unexpected passing is better than the slow degradation and suffering they could experience. My older dog is on his last legs. I think it is literally a matter of weeks before we have to put it down. We are at that terrible point where day by day we have to evaluate and try to make the decision.
You can't know everything, but you can know anything.

Next box. Close it up, put a cat sized hole in it and put some sort of fake animal inside they can't see until they stick their head inside. Record reaction on cell phone.
I'd say a rubber snake, but that would probably be chaos.

I cut a hole in the larger boxes, and it takes under 10 seconds for a cat to get in there. Then he defends it against other intruders.
