I might pay $5 for the Dogecoin Dog.
Quote: bobbartopIf I were still under 60 years old, maybe I would understand why I should want to pay over a $1000 for a Tom Brady NFT from DraftKings Market Place on the polygon blockchain. I'm over 60, and I don't get it.
I might pay $5 for the Dogecoin Dog.
The reason I would pay $1k for that NFT is if I thought I would later be able to sell it for some multiple of $1k.
I recall having this same conversation about BTC less than a decade ago.
I’m reminded of a song from the musical Oliver:
“Who will buy this wonderful feeling?” That’s selling an NFT right there. Over 50 years ago.

I'm under 40 and I have no idea what you even just said. I know who Tom Brady is.
And here we are 46,287.90 dollars later.Quote: SOOPOOThe reason I would pay $1k for that NFT is if I thought I would later be able to sell it for some multiple of $1k.

Are you not about diversification?
Take a chance on some crypto and NFT's.
I have yet to buy an NFT since I haven't done enough research, but I'm interested.
Sure, we might not get it, but it might be important to the next generation.

I'm watching a live stream interview with Ethereum's Vitalik Buterin right now, and I understand maybe 20% of what he's saying. It's still so fascinating. Now that the London Hardfork and EIP 1559 have arrived, it's what we've been waiting for. They sound very bullish. (and the price has been pumping, finally). I feel left behind. Story of my life. I was about 20 years late to video poker, and the same thing with crypto. To me, Ethereum seems way more interesting than Bitcoin, there's so much they can do with it and its future sounds so exciting. Meanwhile, the rest of the news is so depressing.

I agree with you in concept. But for me, the added value to my life of doubling $1k in an NFT trade pales in comparison to the self loathing I’d endure if I lost $1k buying one and it becomes worthless. My ‘diversification’ into crypto is my small ownership in Coinbase. . Never say never, but I don’t think I’ll ever buy an NFT.
My nephew left his job with the NY Islanders organization to take one with a company that sells or licenses NFTs for the NBA players association and a few rock bands. I don't understand it but evidently business in booming. He earned his bonus the last two quarters so he's very happy. Only problem is his bonus was in equity so if the company fails he still gets nothing.

When I first heard of NFTs, as I was looking it up I found a link to what was essentially, a video of a very modern looking home. And it was EXPENSIVE. But you can't live in a video. lol You can't even make the beds.
Here's another thought. What if you could convert your LIFE to a non-fungible token? Would you live forever? That might be worth the price.
Quote: billryanOne of the reasons I cut back on gambling when I lived in Vegas was internal. I didn't need the money and the feelings I had when I lost $100 exceeded those of when I won $100.
That is similar to my problem. I can only get excited about gambling if the stakes are very high and I think I am smart enough not to gamble for stakes that could negatively effect my life.
30 years ago I enjoyed gambling but not so much today.

I dont know if you are too late with ETH. I have the same thoughts as you do about it.Quote: bobbartopTo me, Ethereum seems way more interesting than Bitcoin, there's so much they can do with it and its future sounds so exciting. Meanwhile, the rest of the news is so depressing.
I'm kicking myself because I wanted to buy the ETH ICO, however, I wasn't really set up to do so with exchange and whatnot. Way back when, I even missed an opportunity to buy 7 -10 BTC at a slight discount when it was in the $700 range, but I haggle over $20. To be fair, I didn't even really understand anything about how BTC worked a the time and I was looking for a house to buy.
I probably should have taken the time to get set up however, I was probably a bit lazy, a little busy, and somewhat reluctant given the fact that I was involved in investing in the .com bubble. I made money but lost a significant amount back from my high.
I was also a little off-put with crypto, I gave a friend a nice little chunk of money to invest for me(not that he claimed to know what he was doing, he was just set up to do so), in altcoins and I swear the crypto market crashed the next day. At one point I think I was down like 75%. Not sure where I'm at will all that at this point, perhaps I'm a crypto millionaire and dont know it, meanwhile he is headed to some tropical island.
Since then I got all set up and have been trading crypto. I have no clue what I'm doing, and I doubt if anyone really does.
I bought a little bit of ETH fairly low and as of late I have been trading some of my other altcoins in for ETH and I'm thinking of moving much more into ETH.
I know you used were into some online casino AP, I can't recall if you were or are using BTC for that?
