He promotes gambling, and is openly trying to buy a man's soul. Is Michael Shackleford the devil?

Mike is the kind of guy who doesn't want religion to be a public problem.
He also doesn't want gambling to be one, either.

Isn't there a Bible verse about Satan having many names? The Devil would need a more modern one than "Beelzebub" or "Lucifer", in any case--those sound too quaint for today.

Of course, we've had "George W. Bush" as another name for Satan during the Obama campaign and the administration, but I think that's wearing thin, and we need someone else to blame the world's evils on. Hmmm....

I think there's a strong case for him being the devil. But to be sure, we'd need to see him openly promoting some of the other sins, such as greed and debauchery. Oh wait, this site is about Vegas...

The princely sum of... Ten Bucks!

You know that's the sum of the numbers on a roulette wheel, right?

Why not ? Is it just more clutter to store in the attic / basement / garage ?

It seems like the certificate of sale could be a good conversation starter if
framed and displayed in the gameroom.

Clever. But if he's the Devil then as a wizard he would worship himself? Sorry. I've met the man (or entity), and he didn't strike me as being that egotistical.

I didn't see horns or a tail either, but then I wan't looking for them.

That would be a great trivia question. And no, I didn't know that. Now, just to anger
the Wiz, would that be on a single 0 or double 0 wheel ?

Quote: From "O Brother, Where Art Thou" (after Tommy Johnson admits selling his soul to the devil)

Pete: I've always wondered, what's the devil look like?

Ulysses Everett McGill: Well, there are all manner of lesser imps and demons, Pete, but the great Satan hisself is red and scaly with a bifurcated tail, and he carries a hay fork.

Tommy Johnson: Oh, no. No, sir. He's white, as white as you folks, with empty eyes and a big hollow voice. He likes to travel around with a mean old hound. That's right.

Well, Mike is white. Does he have a hound?

I said earlier, he's a modern devil. He doesn't need those theatrics.

I've met him too.

He didn't strike me as Lucifer. Or one of his minions.

However, he did strike me as the type of guy who, when properly provoked, would be a subtle sort of wise-ass, if the pay-off was sufficient.

I do think all the interesting posts in these three threads qualifies as ample pay-off. The back-pedaling from the guy who originally offered to sell his soul, is gonna be the icing on that cake.

Does anyone see anything wrong with the dates?

Our Michael Shackleford is definitely not the "Devil". I'm certain Beelzebub wouldn't have a problem flying his daughter to Mexico with a passport set to expire in less than six months.
