I think it was Casino Royale, one of those 007 movies where they were playing NLHE and the hands were: 4oak, SF, and royal flush, something ridiculous like that. Anyway what're the odds lol

now that is a true bad beat.

My kids watch youtube all the time, I watch it to learn how to fix my car and house.

There's a bunch of channels I follow. RoadGambler, who recently shut down from heat over songs in the background and YouTube not liking monetizing gambling videos. Of course, Wizard, and Vegas Aces. I found a neat craps strategy one called Color Up. He shows different craps strategies, unedited. It more or less proves the house always wins.

And non gambling favorites....Bad Lip Reading is always good for a laugh. The wife and I like Psychetruth massage videos to help fall asleep at night. ASMR has become pretty big on YouTube. Sometimes when I'm busy around the house, it's always nice to put on a podcast on a topic I'm interested in.

In the movie Minority Report, everywhere you
went in public computers knew who you were
and they targeted advertising specifically for
you. It's already happening on Google and
YouTube.

If I look up something on YouTube, like restoring
an oak floor, for days afterward videos will pop up
on that subject. 3 weeks ago I Googled information
on LED lanterns. Everyday I'm still seeing ads for LED
lanterns.

I can only imagine what a pain in the ass this is
going to be when we get to the world like in
Minority Report.

In some major cities in China they are already doing that. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but people are getting fines in the mail for things like littering when caught by a public camera that used facial recognition to identify the suspect.

It is only a matter of time until what you saw in Minority Report is reality. I give it about 30 years before you walk into a Banana Republic and are welcomed by name when you set foot through the door.
It's not whether you win or lose; it's whether or not you had a good bet.

Sometimes it seems like YouTube is listening, when I put in lyrics, it finds the songs pretty easily. It's possible the words in using are repeated a few times in the songs and heavily used, but still creepy.

That specific video is less of a problem with academia and more accurately illustrates the problem with so-called scientific "journals." After all, the two guys doing the hoaxing and exposing their nonsense were both left-wing academics.

Did you watch the videos? It is the whole insulated culture. Professors write crazy articles for journals only professors read. They get career advancement from it. The system feeds on itself.

FWIW, Global Warming is the same phenomenon.
