Different strokes and all of that. If someone wants to brag about their wealth or their diet, they should expect comments.
I wouldn't feed my dog the same thing every day, nor can I think of anything I'd like to eat daily. Someone posted they like the photos that EB posts. Few of them look inviting to me. Bragging about being the perfect weight, having labs that doctors dream of, or having more money than sense are so over. It's the internet. Everyone can be a french model or beat the casino.
It simply doesn't matter.
The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction is supposed to make sense.

Are MDawg’s posts braggadocious? Of course! To me they are interesting. That’s what matters.

a wealthy person showing off his material goods constantly - pictures of money even - every single day - and you find that interesting?

so very disgusting - makes me puke - you're obviously impressed by the most shallow things in life
link to original post

Of course Soopoo is impressed most of his posts are about material things. He can play it down all he wants but he's hugely impressed by the lifestyle he can lead after retiring at 60 as a doctor. Why do you think they become doctors, it's for the money. I know this for a fact because I used to talk to doctors all the time when I had them in my taxi and I would ask them and they would tell me it's for the money. And they would also tell me they wish they had done something else because the stress of being a doctor was way more than they thought it was going to be. And that was in the 80s I can only imagine what the stress is like now. But the money is a lot better now too.

Yes a bad diet can cause all kinds of different strokes. Especially one high in salt, which almost every American diet is. I can't believe how much better I feel since I totally got rid of table salt 3 months ago. I didn't think I could do it but now I can actually taste what food is supposed to taste like.

because of the internet people are showing off their true colors
posting on forums is the closest they will ever get to actual fame
the hunger for fame is almost as great as the hunger for money
people trying to be famous who have nothing worthwhile to share

before the internet you would never believe that so many people were so inane

it ain't a pretty sight - not at all

Pretty much everything from head to toes.

EvenBob,

You have some things right but some wrong

As long as you’re not eating processed food (no salt) then you’re not going to overeat salt. Add the amount that makes your food taste right. Eating too little salt is MUCH worse for you than overeating it…you’ll die without salt

Natural fats like organic avocados & nuts, grass-fed butter & ribeyes, pasture raised eggs are very healthy and should be eaten in abundance. You seem to shun fat, which is a very dated/wrong approach

You need some carbs like potatoes and whole-grain rice, just keep it moderate

Be very careful with seafood. My sources say the only kind you should ever consume is wild caught Alaskan salmon. Everything else is contaminated to the point that it’s much healthier to not eat it

Do all that, keep your stress low, get some strenuous exercise a few times per week and play the darkside with 6x odds and you’ll be healthy as a horse

I could also post some pictures of $100 bills I probably have 4 or 5.

No need to do that, Soopoo, as someone else has already fully occupied that cabin on WoV, aka "Fantasy Island."

It should be good enough to view such ridiculous posts and smile to yourself, thinking "wow, glad I'm not like that."

Haha, that's rich you telling me how to eat. Didn't you just post your weight the other day as in the ' scares little children' category? And you're going to lecture me on what to eat? I eat avocados, nuts, and fatty canned sardines everyday. I eat eggs four times a week. I get plenty of healthy carbs. I know more about seafood and what not to eat then you could possibly believe. I eat at least seven different fresh vegetables everyday. As far as my exercise goes how the hell would you know what my medical status requires. I don't remember seeing you in my doctor's office last time I was there.

My mistake. I didn’t realize I was responding to someone with a “medical status”. I should have tailored my response to your health problems

I go to the doctor one a year for a physical. That’s it

Weren't you the one that posted last week that you weighed 325 lb? If it wasn't you who was it, I don't have any health problems I'm just older than I used to be and what you do for exercise totally changes when you're older.

People were criticizing me because I eat 1200 calories a day

Q: Is 1200 calories the minimum for everyone?

A: Consuming at least 1,200 calories per day has often been touted as the minimum for basic bodily functions and to stay out of starvation mode, but the amount is actually too low. A healthy amount of calories for adult women ranges from 1,800 to 2,400 calories per day and for men it's 2,000 to 3,200 calories per day.

One sip, one time was more than I needed.

Sickeningly sweet (even for me), with a taste I can only describe as "artificially pink - in a bad way".

I found "crunchy water chestnut drink" to have more redeeming qualities; I may have had as many as 3 cans before deciding it was not for me.

I still miss JOLT.

When I lived in Puerto Rico, there was a popular kids soda called Campaigne Kola. I had it once and my first and only impression was liquid bubblegum. Terrible stuff.

I don't drink much soda, but saw RC Cola in a store the other day and had to buy one. RC Cola was the soda of the 1969 Mets and was my soda of choice as a kid. I hadn't seen it in years and it may have been the first non-diet soda I've had in a decade or two. It was nice, but I won't be buying any more.

I'd be willing to bet that a high % of men and women who remain fairly healthy into their 80s and even made it into their 90s did not follow strict food guidelines

neither of my grandparents on my dad's side did and they both were fairly healthy until they both died at age 86 - at the time they were born the average lifespan was quite a bit less than today

but I would acknowledge that eating this way increases a person's chances of remaining healthy late in their life

I already tried to talk sense to Bob about this, didn't work. I saw a hint as to why he would be miscounting his calories [likely what it is] ... upthread he mentions a carb count. If you mix counting calories with counting carbs you will come up with some, well, incorrect stuff. I agree with Soopoo that he should continue with what he is doing, that's fine, but as for lecturing us, he has put himself in the position of making a ridiculous statement and then not admitting he was wrong. This has destroyed all standing he has on the matter ... a hyper interest in proving he was right by posting and posting on it proves he knows this

Calorie counting is fraught with the potential for error. Last night I took a piece of fresh salmon, poured some olive oil on it and covered it in a Cajun spice mix. Broiled it. I have no idea how much of the oil I consumed versus how much is still in the pan. The broiling process left a small piece stuck to the tinfoil so that was uneaten. I had a salad with probably twice as much dressing as the average Joe. I can tell how much I put on, but I don’t lick the bottom to get every drop.
How the hell can I tell how many calories are in my go to drink, an espresso martini? Different places use different ingredients!

It was two days ago that I had that salmon! Yesterday had chicken wings at Duffs. But wife’s daughter wanted ‘dry rub Cajun’ so we got 1/2 Buffalo style, 1/2 Cajun. I liked the Cajun a little more than the spicy Buffalo wings! I’ve tried multiple different flavors a few years back at Buffalo Wild Wings. Quite disappointing. They did have free pay per view MMA which was the draw.

In your grandparents time there were no fast food restaurants and very few processed foods in the supermarket which they probably wouldn't eat anyway. My grandparents died in the '60s and seventies and they made everything from scratch every day. There's a huge difference between homemade fried chicken and KFC and between eating dinner in front of the TV and a TV dinner. They did not even eat a third of the fat sugar and salt and carbohydrate that people eat today.

Speak for yourself cuz you sure don't speak for me. I know every calorie that goes into my mouth and every gram of carbohydrate because I look everything up and I read the labels and I weigh everything. I eat very very little red meat which is loaded with fat and calories. I eat very few oils, I get all my fat from natural sources like avocados and nuts and eggs and canned fish. No potatoes, no pasta, nothing made with wheat flour or any kind of flour. I avoid sugar completely. I drink nothing but water during the day and whatever rum I drink at night I include in my calorie count which isn't much. It's a lot of work to eat this way keeping track of every single thing you put in your mouth but the dividends it pays is worth it.

Just yesterday I looked into seriously counting carbs instead of calories, someone had recommended it as better. I knew that carb counting is said to be better for diabetics, while calorie counting is OK for those not afflicted. But what I found out was calorie counting is so much easier! Holy cow do the carb counting people make it difficult!! Either that or I just kept pulling up websites that make it seem harder than it is.

I'm not so sure calorie counting is more prone to error, but I'll take it anyway, any day, over what I found ... I don't have diabetes

I stand by my statement that you have lost standing with any thinking person on the matter and will just leave it at that.

I'm having to do that again, having wandered off good eating habits. My only suggestion to anyone is to make sure you are using a diet that isn't just temporary but is something you can live with here on out. The weight will come off.

Re the below, I love how you post stuff with no reference. Someone, maybe more than one person, wrote a cookbook that was popular for a while based on this. It would be great for taking the pounds off fast, but they went on to make claims like what you are quoting. So now the internet is full of warnings not to follow this advice.

I asked Alexa to play some Billy Joel, and she responded with Only The Good Die Young. Who says the universe doesn't have a sense of humor?
Kachava and almond milk for breakfast, and lunch will be a dozen large shrimp, no sauce. Might have chicken fried steak for dinner, with a nice salad.

Oh no, LOL. How many times have I said over the years that I don't give one freaking rip what 98% of the people on this forum think about me. There's only two people whose opinions that I care about, one is the Wizard the other one is Duffman. And the only reason I care about them is because I've had extensive private conversations with both of them over the years and I feel like I know them. I don't know anybody else here other than a name, I don't trust what they say without verification, and I certainly don't care what they think about me. Why would I. I know people go through their entire lives totally worried about how they're perceived by others but I'm obviously not one of them. You can't please everybody so just please yourself and screw everybody else. They can like it or lump it.

After you removed the stone and peel, how many grams of avocado did you eat yesterday?

Just wondering how precise your recordkeeping is.

I eat 2.5 oz of avocado a day I know this because I weigh it on a very precise gram scale. That's just over 100 calories. 2 1/2 oz is about 1/2 of a small avocado.

I prefer dry rub on my wings.

Arby’s fried fish sandwich for lunch. I load extra Horsey Sauces on it. It’s a B+.

Going to a retirement party/dinner tonight. It’s at a club which serves bacon wrapped scallops as an appetizer. I’ve definitely made it to double figures on those…..They also usually have some tuna tartare on cucumber slice appetizers as well.
I rarely eat whatever main courses are available….

It sounds like a seafood feast. I could probably eat 20 bacon wrapped scallops.

For dinner last night on. my 1200 calorie a day diet I had baked eggplant and an open face tuna sandwich with a fried egg on top I love fried eggs on sandwiches with the warm runny yolk. These are not pictures that I took but they look very close to what I ate. I'm not going to post any more of my pictures because if I do somebody will say Bob, that looks like something my dog puked up. Or Bob, that looks like something I flushed down the toilet last week. So now I'll just post generic pictures.

you can use the empty container as a pee bottle so you never have to get off the couch. Don't you drink gallons of some sweet thing everyday?

I’d much rather eat this than any of the crap EB is cooking.

Id rather eat unhealthy and die young than suffer a “healthy diet.”

Too bad you never learned how to use Google, it would save you a lot of embarrassment. 1200 calories a day for a basically unactive person like me at my age is completely normal. Google would take a lot of the guesswork out of your tremendously wrong and embarrassing statements. It is amusing that you think I need the same calorie intake as an active 22-year-old.

Me too. Sitting on the couch would mean having to get out of bed.

I generally set aside $500 monthly for food, but that's just a guideline. I don't mind stocking up when I find something cheap.
For the last 21 days, I wrote down everything I had eaten. I'll meet with my weight loss counselor on Tuesday to fine-tune my diet. For fun, I went back today and came up with a pretty good estimate of what I spent. If I had a cheeseburger, I figured out the cost of the burger, the bun, and the cheese. I didn't count things like BBQ sauce or a few slices of lettuce. Roughly $15 a day and well under my $500 estimate.. Including the two meals I ate out, I estimate I spent $318 eating the last 21 days. I will try to cut $20 off the next 21 days. I'll try to take pictures of the dollars I save.

I probably spend 12 hours a day at my desk and 11 hours in bed. The other hour is between the breakfast bar, kitchen table, and toilet.

There’s no need for you to defend yourself. If you are generally healthy, which it sounds like you are, and your weight is stable, which you say it is, then by definition you are eating enough calories for your lifestyle and your individual metabolism.
Others may do it differently. But what works for you works for you.

I disagree with you posting generic food photos. I prefer your real pics. With the exception of the fried eggs you add to a lot of things I’d hire you as my chef.

Fried salmon patties for dinner. Might be the best ones I ever made. I used three eggs instead of two eggs and included two slices of cubed bread in the mixture. Fried in 1 oz of olive oil. Made a sandwich out of one of them and it was moist and firm and I'll make these again.
