My Vegas eats..... First night MAKINO! My favorite restaurant in the world.... sushi/seafood buffet. Probably ate the equivalent of 8 sushi rolls.... likely more..... other than no eel it is perfect for me..... Had a few oysters, a few clams, some shrimp tempura, some seaweed salad as well.
Another night had sushi at Sushi Fever. Generally disappointed. Not as good as Makino, and.... I hate the service concept there.... we were a group of 5.... all ordered at the same time... a few minutes later the waitress brings out my salmon roe, and smelt roe two pieces each. It is the only food on the table other than a small few pieces of cucumber each diner was given complimentary. Then a single spicy tuna roll was brought out and the waitress asks who ordered it. Both me and one friend affirmed, so I told her to give it to my friend. A minute later another roll comes out, same process. After a bit 4 of us have some/most of our order in front of us while one patron has nothing! When it seemed like they were done, I mentioned to the waitress I was not served one of my rolls... she apologized and I got it basically when everyone else was finished eating. BRING IT ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
Had Mexican at Tivoli Village in Summerlin with our host, the Wizard. I had some sort of spicy shrimp bowl which was good. Mexican food is usually good, not great. Prickly Pear tequila drink was WAY too sweet. Mike did bring a dufflebag full of magic tricks... I'd say half of them were quite good! Our cute waitress did participate in one, and I have to say, it was a good trick.
Generally disappointed in Italian restaurant in Summerlin. Basically just OK and twice the price of an equivalent in Buffalo. New England Clam Chowder was not as good as canned Wegman's. Chopped salad was limp. I did like my main course, a spicy cioppino.

Lunches were at golf clubs, and were generally good for golf course type places.

Good luck with the keto, Bill.

I did Keto about 3 months ago -for about 3 weeks. I failed to keep myself well-hydrated during that period - and I wound up with muscle soreness that discouraged me from doing it longer. But my fall-back was to a low carb diet - a diet that was not as extreme as Keto.

I definitely like where I am right now. Keto is an effective way to take off pounds quickly - but its just not a lot of fun. The longing for Carbs and sugar can be significant.

So far. so good. Eating close to no carbs. Breakfast was a shake, lunch was a 10 ounce ribeye and dinner will be a chicken breast sliced into a salad.
Tomorrow will be rough.
I ordered a bunch of keto snacks from Amazon, but I've never been a sweets person.

On Keto, try to snack on fruit. Nuts are usually allowed -get mixed nuts or whatever. Chicken is cheap and easy. I like some fish so I ate salmon, canned tuna, etc. Salads are great for the diet, but a bit of work. Eat as much as you can stand. After 2-3 days you should start burning fat. No sustainable diet I know reduces weight as fast as keto.

Not sure this is the right spot, but I just came from the store. A 12-ounce bottle of Franks Hot Sauce was $5.99. On the bottom shelf were gallon jugs for $15.99, with a $2 coupon to boot.

“House salad” I just ate with casino comps, was worth about the $0 I paid for it. There were like four tomatoes, one slice of cucumber, ALL iceberg lettuce, and cheese. That’s it.

Is there ANY purpose whatsoever for iceberg lettuce to continue to be grown or exist? There is almost no nutritional value whatsoever and no one is eating lettuce for the taste.

She Who Must Be Obeyed is cooking up Loco Moco tonight: a hamburger with fried onion on top of a bed of rice, the whole covered with brown gravy.

Discovered it at a local Hawaiian restaurant.

I do not want to taste the lettuce on a sandwich, but I do enjoy a bit of the lettuce crunch and supposedly roughage is wholesome.

I think a wedge salad would be wrong with any lettuce other than iceberg.

Otherwise, yeah.

Wife is cooking 21 lb bird today. Knowing who is attending we will have MASSIVE leftovers. 4 different women are making and bringing side dishes. Each gets confused and makes enough that if their dish was the ONLY side dish it would be enough. Of course there is going to be a green bean casserole. And pounds of stuffing. Mashed potatoes. I have been assigned to bring the cranberry gel thing that no one ever eats. $1.29 down the toilet.

The canned stuff, I presume.

I find it's best to use it like marmalade and smear it on some sort of bread.

I will have several helpings of cranberry jelly on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. It was sort of a family tradition in my house to only serve it on holidays.
When I was younger, we'd occasionally get dinner from Chicken Delight and they would toss in the stamp-sized containers of cranberry sauce. They were the best part of the meal.
I can't stand the stuff with pits in it, and leftover cranberry sauce is nasty unless it's on a turkey and stuffing sandwich.

Fruit mostly isn’t keto, that’s paleo the way I understand it. You can basically have maybe 1/2 a cup of berries of keto a day without going over, almost all other types of fruit are a no no from the way I understood it, a big reason I couldn’t stick with it. Eating one apple or banana knocks you out of ketosis.

Luckily for me, I'm not a fruit or veggie person. I love pizza, but made a crustless pizza that was almost as good, and my pastaless lasagna works for now. Losing the buns off of my cheeseburgers wasn't nearly as painful as I anticipated.
I ordered an assortment of keto snacks off Amazon and if one or two of them pan out, I don't see this diet being all that bad. Having a ribeye steak, salad, and a few prawns a couple of days a week goes a long way towards making this keto thing tolerable.
Breakfast today was three scrambled eggs with mozzarella cheese and a splash of hot sauce. Beats the heck out of NutriSystem.

Well, when it comes to nutrition:

Kale >> Romaine Lettuce >>Iceberg Lettuce.

Iceberg lettuce is a good source of Vitamin A, and has some calcium and magnesium, which is good for bone health. It has some potassium. And its sodium-free (but so is styrofoam, lol) So, its not a complete zero when it come to nutritional value. Its low in calories, etc.

But Romaine lettuce is better, Romaine provides all the nutrients that Iceberg has but more Vitamin A, and also Romaine also has Vitamin K, and folates. Vitamin K is only available from leafy vegetables and helps with blood clotting, so its absence from iceberg is significant. Folates are a type of Vitamin B which helps produce red blood cells, but you can get folates from many other popular fruits (bananas, oranges), and from nuts, beans and other vegetables. So folate deficiency is not a big problem.

a couple of days ago we got chicken from one of the little Peruvian joints - there are several in the DC area

their chicken is very tender and they have unique spices

it crushes the competition IMHO

My old neighborhood in Queens had some Peruvian chicken places, but then Columbian rotisserie chicken hit town and it virtually eliminated the Peruvian product. I'm not sure what the Columbians do differently but it taste much better hot. The strange thing is I like most chicken cold as well as hot, but the Columbian style congeals and is almost unedible after a night in the fridge.

*Colombian.* I don’t know why, but that one always jumps off the page to me. Venezuelan chicken pretty similar to Peruvian often, assuming both use the wood coal fired rotisserie.

It can be dangerous for your liver to mix alcohol and Tylenol.

you can get the same result with aspirin or ibuprofen

also, I don't do this often - and it's less than 25% of the maximum recommended per day dosage

I believe you have to consume a lot of alcohol and a lot of tylenol to damage your liver

I'm not in that category

Weed works better. Or so I’ve heard, I would only know for scientific purposes of course. And you would have to take it in edible form for the purposes of staying on thread topic. It’s I haven’t drank enough to be hung over in over a decade anyway I guess.

I wouldn't call it exactly a diet but I've started eating a lot of fiber to try to lessen my big gut
I don't have a scale but I have other ways to judge it and it seems to be working - it has definitely caused me to feel full and reduced my appetite and snacking

the main 2 products I use are raw Quaker oats - 4 grams of fiber - and Kellogs All Bran cereal - believe it or not 12 grams of fiber per serving

both are excellent products IMO - I mix them together - the All Bran has just a little bit of sugar so the taste is actually pretty good

Sometimes advertising works! On way down to Florida stopped at a Sonic. Had the garlic butter bacon cheeseburger. Pretty good for fast food. The fries from Sonic are nearly inedible.

At bar in hotel in Gainesville the menu had exactly two things. Mac and cheese (wife said pretty good) and Buffalo chicken wings (below average). I’m hungry.

Enjoy your time in Florida. How long are you down for? It is supposed to be in the low 80's here for the next 10 days with no rain and the humidity is so low it isn't even noticeable. I guess until March this is the dry season.

Rather than the eight glasses we were told growing up, the newer guideline is to drink half your body weight in water. Pretty much no one who drinks anything but water or doesn’t exercise a ton probably does this, tough to drink that much water especially if at all overweight. But, anybody drinking close to half their weight in water is going to eat less than they otherwise would.

I’m really enjoying these “Body Armor Lyte” drinks made with coconut water lately, mango and watermelon flavors. They are tasty, only 20 calories in 16 ounces, and packed with vitamins.

Folate: 200%. Zinc: 70%. Vitamin A: 70%. E: 70%

did you know that drinking too much water can be dangerous to your health?
hyponatremia is the medical term - it happens to athletes sometimes

a DC cop died from drinking too much water - although this is probably rare

neither article states how much water is too much
although the article on the cop states that he believed he drank 3 gallons of water before his bike ride which is much more than you're indicating

.

Asian food is amazing when it's done right - they really give you great flavor

quite a few of the restaurants cook with too much oil and it ends up greasy - I need to be particular about which restaurant

my faves:

chicken with cashew nuts, black pepper chicken and chicken teriyaki

I believe the Chinese are much better with chicken and pork then they are with beef

I've heard the Japanese are very good with beef but I haven't experienced that

I'm loving this keto diet.
Today's menu-
Breakfast-18 ounce keto shake- 6oz milk, 12 ounces of water
Mid-morning snack- 6 large prawns, no sauce
Lunch- keto chile and cheese, from factor 75
mid-afternoon snack- Quest cookies and cream bar.
Dinner- 10 ounces of chicken breast with a rustic rub.
late snack- four ounces of milk and an Atkins brownie.

Tomorrow, I'll switch the snacks around and have a 12 ounce ribeye instead of the chicken breast.

Usually, I have a salad several times a week but am out right now.
I bought four different types of Quest/Atkins snacks so I can mix them up and I also bought a 12 pack of Atkins iced coffee protein shakes which can either replace a snack or even be lunch.
I just ordered ten pounds of ground bison and will be alternating my lunches between the keto chile and a 1/3 pound bison burger with cheese, no roll.
I bought some 1 carb tortilla shells thinking I could use them for burgers but they simply do not taste good.
I'm weighing myself on the 15th and the 1st. Last weigh-in, I was down seven more pounds. My nutritionist isn't crazy about my choices but can't argue with the success.
The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction is supposed to make sense.

Good to hear it’s so far, so good. As long as you like the food shouldn’t be tough to stick with, any travel can make it tougher more limited choices.

You’re probably aware but that first five pounds or so on keto, part of the reason for dramatic initial loss, is all water. If anyone wants to easily gain five pounds in a week, just stop doing keto.

I'm pretty sure I'd already lost most of the water weight in the months before I switched to keto.
It may be a coincidence but I seem to have more energy and less nagging pain the last few weeks.

Doubt it’s coincidence, energy thing many keto people say and less pain seems to go along with weight loss in general.

My choices got worse as the day went on yesterday.

Veggie omelette and hash browns around noon. Blueberry muffin and apple around 4. Cheez its and peanut m+m’s near 10. Shot some hoops before eating anything but zero exercise once the eating began.

What I ate this morning? My egg omelette with mushrooms, onions, basil and cheese. Potato patties, bacon, tomatoes and jalapeños. Bagel with cream cheese. Coffee and orange juice. On the way to my casino to pull my training shift today and then for overtime, supervisor the guys on the floor for the Saturday Night Fever stuff.

I will also report what happened last night in my mini baccarat session with the buy in I did not even have to take out of my bankroll! :)

I am on low carb diet and I made a large batch of chile recently and was a bit dismayed at the amount of carbs in the beans and amount of sugar in the BBQ sauce. Do you know what differentiates your "keto chile" from a more conventional chile?
So many better men, a few of them friends, are dead. And a thousand thousand slimy things live on, and so do I.
