Cajun shrimp stir fry. I broke it to my wife yesterday that even if I live another 15 years I'm never going to another restaurant for the rest of my life. I've always hated them, and now that I'm older I just refuse to put myself through that. I like knowing what I eat, in a restaurant I have absolutely no idea where the food came from what it's been through or who cooked it. You eat it.

The shrimp looks good. I would do it without all of that other crap though. My wife is very allergic to shellfish so I can only have it when she is out of town.

Todays meal was a cherry wood smoked pork tenderloin. Both the wife and I enjoyed it but unfortunately my dog grabbed the second one off the counter so I have no leftovers for tomorrow.

I received my first box from Clean Eatz Kitchen. It's a non-subscription meal plan that lets you choose from about thirty different meals each month. The meals run $8.99 with no taxes or shipping. The only restriction is that you can order only in multiples of six meals at a time.
I just had the Southern Fried Chicken bowl, which was more like a chicken croquette than regular fried chicken.
Described as breaded chicken with corn and peppers in a light gravy over mashed potatoes, it is surprisingly good.
It's 430 calories with 28 grams of protein. I'm not sure how they do it, but a 10-ounce serving with under 500 calories somehow fills me for hours. They also sell fantastic empanadas, but they are pricey at $5 each.
Six low-calorie, high-protein meals a week, coupled with Ka'Chava smoothies for most breakfasts, doesn't leave me a lot to screw up.
No messes to clean up is a nice bonus.

The $8.99 price is good since that includes shipping.

They have bulk deals that bring the price down to about $7, but I'm not there yet. My local Walmart carries a few of the meals, but not all thirty every week. The local Albertsons has similar ones but they are $11.99 and not as healthy.

Looks like a frozen smoothie to me.
I don't eat a lot of ice cream, but I recently had Oreo brand ice cream, and it was delicious. Several brands sell ice cream with Oreo pieces, but Oreo ice cream looks and tastes like the frozen filling of an Oreo. Dangerously delicious.

(omissions omitted)

No, the Butter Pecan just seemed the least objectionable flavor on offer. There was an "Ashley's Coconuttery Swirl" a few days ago at a different ice cream stop, which was far richer (and too sweet).

I can probably go for a mocha brownie swirl with a drizzle of salted caramel, but I don't see that very often. I am not going for chocolate cake shakes anymore.

I'm cleaning out my freezer so for lunch, I had a Hungry Man XXL turkey dinner that was at least a year old. Dinner was frozen chicken parm and spaghetti. I picked up a cheap freezer chest so I can take advantage of bulk deals.

I have a Jackery, but if I don't open the freezer, it should hold for a day or two.
By buying in bulk, I can save $2 a meal and the used freezer was $65. It pays for itself in a month.

Well, if you're unfamiliar, look up the frozen coin indicator. You may want some way of knowing if things have thawed and refrozen.

I know we're not too worried about the garage freezer, but we're not in the southwest heat.

My wife and I are trying to eat down our freezer as we are in hurricane season so you never know if you will be losing power for many days. Last year it was only three days which seemed easy after the year before with 10 days without power.

"Hurricane Sandy made landfall near Atlantic City, New Jersey, on October 29, 2012.

It was one of the most destructive hurricanes in U.S. history, especially impacting the northeastern states, including New Jersey and New York. Atlantic City experienced severe flooding and damage due to the storm surge." Ai Genius' remarks

The strange thing is it downgraded to a tropical storm before it hit NJ and NY. That's why it is often referred to as Super-Storm Sandy.

Absolutely. It was a huge mofu. An area of eight blocks around my house was the only one in a county of three million people that did not lose power. Most of my friends and family was without power for over a week so my house became a warming center. My neighbor had extension cords all over his property to let people charge phones and such.
A couple of days after Sandy, Long Island got a very early-season snowstorm that wreaked havoc as frustrated people dealt with no traffic signals.

Many people do not realize how much easier life is with traffic signals. When I returned after Ian all traffic signals were out and it took about a month before the majority were working again. I remember driving back into the devastation with no signals and no street lights with telephone poles and electric wires strewn across the streets. Getting anywhere was a nightmare for a few weeks.

That's why all that stuff you're talking about was invented, in the early days driving was a nightmare because there were no traffic lights or anything to regulate traffic. People did whatever they wanted.

Maybe you mean the 2011 October Nor'easter that trashed the Northeast? That was the year before Sandy. Very destructive because it was extreme snow before the deciduous trees shed their leaves and many came down.

I remember it so well because I was out driving in it. What a mess.

Hurricane Sandy hit around Halloween. On November 7th, LI was hit with an early-season snowstorm that dumped several inches of snow. By itself, the second storm was not that bad, but on top of Sandy, it exacerbated an already bad situation. With the ground saturated by the storm swell, we lost several trees when the weight of the snow on the leaves proved too much to bear
