In honor and as a tribute many Ding Dongs will be eaten.

I heard a certain song by the Velvet Underground, and I could never eat Ding Dongs again.

Here are my replies

1)
Without servers or bus boys
that casino will install a cafeteria-style service with a conveyor belt for trays of dirty plates with leftovers.

Decades ago
Without servers and bus boys
the old Sahara Casino @LV did have such cafeteria-style service in its cheap buffet

brilliant. i do love my peppers. but what goes down when arrogant 'comped for everything' high rollers get lazy and leave a mess where they were consuming such nice benefits. does the cafeteria conveyor or chef get upset...

try blue cheese balsamic on any sort of cheese, tomato, or chicken salad. great light snack.

Breakfast today was unusual. I was volunteering at a new food bank and ate what they offered everyone.
Four ounces of cold shredded chicken, half a sliced orange, a small container of apple sauce, three strawberries, and some fruit punch that seemed very watered down. Everybody got a to-go bag with two bottles of water, a homemade cookie and a banana.

Either would be an improvement over what I served today. It was embarrassing.

I'm making rigatoni with meat sauce, but I'll let it age for a day or two before pan-frying it for a couple of meals.
15 oz of pasta, 17 oz of sauce, and a pound of ground turkey, with generous portions of grated Parmesan.

Lunch is roast beef on an onion roll with smoked bacon aioli dressing, with freshly made lemonade.

Speaking of food & shelter...

The Nuns and good-hearted- volunteers have provided food and shelter in my neck of the woods.

Look...

The homeless people, the poor, and even loving-dogs are fed! See photos

I knew it was prison food immediately, homeless shelter food doesn't look anything like this.
Homeless shelter food typically looks more like this, one container everything together.

I don't have a favorite food that I could eat four or five times a week, except for Red Lobster Tarter Sauce.
These days, I drink almost exclusively bottled water, whichever is on sale, or iced coffee.

Today it's about what are the outdoor animals eating. I have moved from not only feeding a horde of indoor cats but I've set up a feeding station outside to feed the birds and the squirrels and the Chipmunks and the raccoons and even some deer have showed up. This is a picture of what it looks like in the daytime and pictures of what it looks like at night. I have a wildlife motion camera set up in two locations. Very entertaining. I live right on the edge of a dense woods and all kinds of Critters live there.

"Broccolini is a hybrid vegetable, resulting from a cross between Chinese kale and broccoli, which gives it the florets of broccoli and the long, slender stems of kale. It is often prepared similarly to broccoli, as seen in the image where it appears sautéed or pan-steamed with garlic and possibly red peppers. " ---Google

Broccolini absorbs sauces exceptionally well, allowing it to blend seamlessly with a variety of foods, and is easy to stir-fry. I like it with orange and green peppers, but not so much with red peppers. I've tried adding cheese to the mix, but both riccotta and mozzerella made me quesy when combined in an onion, peppers, mushroom and melted cheese mix.

Today I will be attempting to smoke some ribeye steaks and stuffed potato skins. I am guessing about 90-120 minutes for the ribeye but being a first attempt it is just guessing. I am using cherry wood and thinking about 250 degrees.

Are they already cut into steaks, rather than smoking it as a prime rib or standing rib roast?

They were already cut into steaks about an inch thick. They did not turn out great as the texture was mushy. If I try again I will throw them on the grill and char them after smoking.

I started a seventeen-day diet tweak today. No pizza, no pasta, no fast food, no potatoes, more salads with less dressing, two servings of yogurt, and an extra seventeen minutes of light exercise every day.
I pan-seared a 3.5-pound pichana, then cooked it at 325 for twenty minutes. Next, I sliced it into six pieces, which I'll pan-fry individually.

In fact they're the opposite, sometimes the picture is so big I don't even know what it is. Plus a picture that big takes up so much bandwidth why not just make them smaller.

Day two went smoothly. Mid-afternoon. Kachava shake around 530AM, then two waffles with no sugar syrup at 10AM. One of my pichana steak for lunch and a yogurt
Dinner was another steak, this time with pan-fried mushrooms.
I did the preliminary work on an eggplant parmesan meal. EP is another meal I think benefits from spending 24 hours in the fridge before
cooking. That will be lunch and dinner for tomorrow.
Today's breakfast was Kachava shake, and I'll have two cheesy eggs for a snack. Lunch will be pichana steak and grilled peppers

You need some carbs, and the diet recommends them for a light breakfast. I'm winging it a bit as much of the food they recommend isn't stuff I like. On Day 17, I will see if it's working. So far, I haven't felt hungry, and supposedly, the trick is to eat when you aren't hungry.
I'm the opposite. If I'm not hungry at dinner, I'll skip it and wait until I'm hungry to eat.
I don't have a good track record with diets, so I'm not expecting much from this cycle. Even if I don't lose weight, taking 17 days to break the fast food cycle and upping my exercise a notch will be a success.

I had the last of the steaks for dinner, with half a bag of mixed peppers and onions. For lunch, I had the first of the eggplant that I cooked yesterday, and it turns out this batch is outstanding. I am a " more sauce is always better" type, but with eggplant, less is more. The ratio of sauce to eggplant to cheese isn't always easy for me, but this turned out to be a success.
Finishing up Day 4, almost 20% done and feeling good.

Retired friend. Golfs with me almost daily. But hurt his back and out for months. He forages for mushrooms near his rural house and always brags about his soups. Anyway, with more time on his hands, he did a long day (5 hours) of foraging. Collected enough Chantarelle mushrooms to sell for over $700!!!!!!! I think he said 40 pounds at $18 a pound for him?

I was shocked to find out Chantarrelles can’t be ‘farmed’ and are all collected this way. Next trip to Wegmans I’m going to see what they sell them for!

Flaxmeal muffins! Easiest recipe you will ever make.

2 cups flax meal.
1 cup water.

That's it, that's the basic recipe. That will fill up a 24-hole mini-muffin tray like this, bake for 15-20 minutes at 375 F.

Now what to add? I like 1 tsp. citric acid (preservative, adds tartness) and a reasonable amount of honey. But you can add anything you want: cinnamon, black pepper, and for those of you who indulge- that magic monkey powder that collects in a chamber in your grinder.

Totally not true. They only come around occasionally, the rest of time they're in the woods foraging. Unlike the homeless who never forage. They're always looking for handouts.
