I can't even imagine being forced to
eat this kind of faux food, let alone
doing it willingly. Shudder..
This is what I had last night. Pulled pork
salad with avocado, tomato, cucumber,
romaine hearts. I made tahini out of sesame
seed and made a Green Goddess dressing
from that. Prep time, 45 min. Eat time:
Glorious.

time to make the most of it.

looks anything like that. This is what
pizza really looks like:
Obviously more time and effort can produce wonderful things. - as I too love to cook.
However sometimes quick and easy plus cheap is the way to go

It's a 5 pound mustard covered pork
roast. The mustard keeps moisture
from escaping and forms a delicious
crust. Cooked to 140, it was pink
and juicy and so good I could eat
half of it at once.

I don't knowi f I would classify it as tasty, but I am a big fan of the $1 Tostino pizza. It is filling, serves 2 people, and only $1. Sorry, I am cheap.
on mashed cauliflower.
8lb. Bone in with fat cap
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup fine salt
Dry rub then wrap in plastic wrap
Frig overnight
300 deg uncovered for 6 hours.
Stupid good for how simple it is
Everyone dug it
Original recipe called for 1 cup of salt. Backed that down to 1/2 cup after first time I tried this one

Actually, its only fifty cents, because the next night you can eat the sauce-smeared cardboard and it tastes just about the same.Quote: linksjunkieTotino’s Pizza for a buck is actually pretty tasty cheap quick fix.

Clearly you are out of your culinary realm. The Totinos pizza comes wrapped in plastic so none of the delicious remnants ever come in contact with the cardboard box. You need to focus on your bourgeoisie Meals On Wheels discussion and leave the creative culinary cuisine discussion to us.

Of course. Butter, chicken fat, chicken broth,
coconut flour, sour cream.

It's called a dry brine. Wet brines
work better, the meat is in the
water for 24 hours.

I think he means the the dough
part of the pizza tastes like
cardboard. I disagree, cardboard
would taste better..
Udon pork soup. It was good, but I wasn't blown away.
Tuna Sashimi... I did feel like this was better than what you get in the US. The preparation was a bit different, in that it came on some sort of lettuce leaf with a pasty, white condiment like horse radish, but not very spicy. The tuna was dark red and seemed more flavorful.
I thought perhaps the food on a Japanese airline would be good, but it was mostly as bad or worse than U.S. airlines. I had to tap out on the entre.
One side dish was interesting though. It was a potato salad with a slice of smoked salmon and some kind of purple stuff on top. Never would have thought to eat potato salad with lox, though it does seem to exist in the West, but it was a nice combo. Given that the rest of the meal was pretty bad, I bet if I got this dish in a nice restaurant, I'd love it.
There was also a show called The Solitary Gourmet, which was interesting. A guy travels around eating in restaurants. We have a million of those right? Well, this is fictional. It's... I guess a drama... and about 75% of the show is the guy sitting there and eating a meal.
He is really eating and the food looked delicious and he was certainly really enjoying it, but at the same time it was an actor playing a character.

IMO Stouffers chicken parmesan and Stouffers lasagna are among the best
I recently nuked the chicken parmesan and it was kind of disappointing - the chicken was tough for one thing
2 days later I ate it again but this time I cooked it in my conventional oven per their directions and it was way, way better
of course one reason people buy them is to save time so many might not want to take the time the oven takes
but if you do you have a much better dinner
I like stouffers a lot. I almost never cook them in a microwave, especially the chicken. It's not close. We had their lasagna and a Caesar salad for dinner tonight, in fact. Oven baked perfectly.
I made my own lasagna once. Took a full hour to prep, another hour to cook, ingredients cost over $20. Tasted exactly like Stouffers, which is to say, delicious. Who charge half what it costs me to make it from scratch.
They did change their recipe recently, though. Now it has 2x the meat. Hurt me some more, there, guys. It's even better.

yes, and Digiorno frozen pizza was way, way better than I expected it to be. very, very, good
and frozen breaded shrimp - from the better brands - awesome - my side is Amish redskin potato salad
beats a lot of restaurant shrimp - shrimp freezes very well
probably some conspiracy to make me look bad

Mega high in Omega-3 fats — higher than salmon, tuna, and nearly every other food you can think of
High in calcium and vitamin D — the tiny bones in canned sardines are soft enough to eat, supplying about 25 percent of your daily calcium needs and a hefty dose of vitamin D in just three ounces"

Cooking for others is a pain. It's
why I dropped out of culinary
school after a year. I realized
I didn't want to please others,
I wanted to please just me. That,
and the pay sucked in the early
80's'. Being a chef didn't have
any of the glamour it does now.
Look at David Chang, he's 42
and worth over $40 million already.
Some sort of pho like soup, with the kitchen sink in it. Meatballs, fishballs, tripe, veggies... it was good. Tripe seems to make soups taste good, but it's like trying to eat an eraser.
Had some meat on a stick that was pretty good.
The best thing was this dessert. It was rice flour, tapioca and IDK. It was green. Anyway, it was somewhere in the funnel cake-churro spectrum, but not deep fried and covered in coconut. Very tasty.

That said, no clue why this waste of a thread is allowed here when “certain” ones are not allowed.
Obviously from the amount of posts someone cares about it.
Seems like useless drivel on a gambling site but to each his own.

Because people can discuss food with civility, and usually without revealing themselves to be unhinged. They aren't going to start hijacking threads about game shows and other topics to start overtly or obliquely spouting their dogma about what counts as a sandwich.
It's not a useless drivel. We all eat. Someone might post a recipe I can use, I restaurant I want to try, etc. It is a common topic of conversation.
Plus, because food is not a dogmatic area, people tend to talk about things they actually understand and that correspond to reality. Nobody is going to start claiming that turkey is actually chicken because Guy Fierri told them so and they uncritically believe whatever he tells them.
Everyone knows “Buffalo” wings were invented in Sharon, Pennsylvania. Go Steelers.Quote: BozBuffalo Wings for the win and pissed on a Primanti Bros sandwich because the Steelers suck.
