As for True Lies, it might not be the kind of flick that you care for, but it does seem that you had success finding it on Netflix, unlike bbb. You might be amused by the extreme difference between the two "Simon" characters that led to this discussion in the first place.
I think Wiz has the DVD side. I only have streaming. Netflix used to tell you such and such a movie you searched for is only available by dvd. For.some.reason, they no longer do that.
I have not confirmed for Spring Fling. I have several issues with the weekend, including my mom's 85th birthday. I haven't totally ruled it out yet, because I really want to see you guys, but it's not looking good.

Add me to the list although still just a maybe. My work schedule is the main issue, but secondary issue is the ridiculous high airfare, over $600 that weekend, not sure why, and also very high hotel prices.

The Apollo moon landing was his greatest work followed by A Clockwork Orange.

Some say the Apollo sweater Danny wore in The Shining was an inside joke about his faking of the moon landing coverage. So far, that is about the best evidence I've heard to support the notion.
Benedict Wong plays a great Kublai Khan.

Are they making more episodes? It was really good in my opinion.
Supposedly. They were supposed to do a small series based on Hundred Eyes (the blind kung-fu master) I think they only made one teaser episode of that so far.Quote: MaxPenAre they making more episodes? It was really good in my opinion.
If you liked that you might also like The Admiral (I think its all subtitled but it's worth it).

I fairly certain you just PM The Wizard.

Wiz, have you seen Room 237?
If not, slide it ahead of True Lies in that que.
Quote: RigondeauxWiz, have you seen Room 237?
Yes, I've seen it. I think that is where I learned of this sweater conspiracy theory.
I'm afraid True Lies has slid down on my queue, in favor of Westworld. I'm eagerly awaiting DVD #2 to show up in my mailbox.

Because, as one of the 5 or so most famous books in our language, it's a pretty low level general knowledge question and you are very smart guys who went to college. I didn't nec think you'd read it, but likely picked it up by osmosis.

While the story was popular I think Moby Dick is what Melville is most popular for. I would say people are more familiar with Dickens, Clemens, and Hawthorne. I would take the no on a lot of people not knowing that. I would be way more apt to take the yes on The Adventure of Tom Sawyer author as an example.
I had to read that BS book in like 1 day because we had required reading over the summer. And I didn’t remember that, so read it on the last day of summer. :(
Also had to read The Count of Monte Cristo (anyone know the author off the top of their head?), but that book was ABSOLUTE trash. Half of it’s in French IIRC. I didn’t realize it was taking place in France (or somewhere like that?) for a few chapters. Once I figured that part out, I was like yeah, this is pure nonsense I’m not reading this s***!!!!
EDIT: I was thinking of The Old Man (in?) the Sea. I don’t think I’ve ever read Moby Dick. The one I read is the one where the dude is in the ocean and he catches a whale or some sh** and it takes him like 50 hours to reel it in. And he doesn’t even have a legit fishing pole, just fishing line around his hands. At least that’s what I remember.
Edit 2: Yeah, it was TOMATS that I read. Just finna hit up the googs on that one.

I know absolutely nothing about the book except captain Ahab. I don’t think I’ve ever even held a copy of the book before.

Lol I also went to college and I could have sworn it was Charles Dickens for some reason.
In our defense, Herman Melville was a bit of a one hit wonder.
Definitely a male-centric writer, though. He answers or describes certain questions about men and how they think, and what they care about, better than nearly anyone, ever.
I find him, and Hemingway, boring and difficult to read for the same reasons. He's not writing for me. My brother thinks both are among the best authors. Definitely a guy thing, IMO.

Hey, I too am in the HIAD (Hemmingway in a Day) club, but for me it was A Farewell to Arms. I was a master procrastinator in High School. We had a month to read it, and of course I waited until the last minute to start.Quote: RSI had to read that BS book in like 1 day because we had required reading over the summer. BTW, I knew it wasn't Moby Dick you were talking about. Good luck reading that in one day! As it happens, I had to read that one as well for the same English class. I actually started well ahead of time. It took me a week to get through maybe a quarter of it. I don't think I made it 1/2 way through before I finally had to consult with Mr. Cliff.
Babs -- I think you are spot-on. Hemmingway and Melville wrote basically about war and fishing. Definitely "boy" subject matter.
Well, a good many women discover hunting and it seems fishing is even more popular with women. I read the excerpt wherein Hemmingway discusses throwing knives at waitresses in Fort Myers, FL and wonder how he was tolerated when drunk. I tend to thing about Hemmingway whenever I see those GEICO ads about the Running of the Bull Dogs in Pamplona. Though Mickey Spillane wrote a good deal about very masculine men being lured to their doom by skillful manipulative women and his "Hemmingway who?" comment was famous.Quote: JoemanI think you are spot-on. By the way, it was Andre Dumas who wrote the count of monte cristo though most kids these days know that because it was featured in the Shawshank Redemption.
Never did understand Billy Budd, Foretopman.
Even the short story by Elmore Leonard When The Girls Come Out To Play challenges me now.

Yeah, Alexander Dumas Jr, actually. Found him at age 12 and read everything twice. Great stuff.
3 Musketeers
4 Musketeers
Man in the Iron Mask
Count of Monte Cristo
Probably some other stuff, but those are the ones I loved..Most of the movies didn't do them justice, tho MITIM with DeCarlo (I think) came close.

I actually just watched Shawshank Redemption for the first time about 2-3 months. As soon as they got to that scene (after he says "The Count of Monte Crisco [sic]", I knew they were going to make a joke out of his last name being "dumbass" somehow....and sure enough, they did. I felt like a fortune teller or something.

As far as I'm concerned, not really, but I guess it would depend on what they did in the casino. I certainly wouldn't want to find out someone was working here in Vegas in a management position dealing with gambling. Especially, if I was unaware of that.
I would wonder a little if they were fairly new members.
It would be nice to know what they did and what casino they worked for.

Blame PokerGrinder. He invited me. Haha
Unless you guys are planning an Oceans 11, I'm confused on why it would even matter.
I guess I'll have to read into the previous spring flings and happenings at it. Unless someone can PM me a good summary.
I post pictures of myself online (Romes and Axel keep it PG) so everyone knows what I look like.
I was going to mention your name since personally I think you are fine. I didn't want to keep mentioning you work at a casino and what you did.Quote: GlenGBlame PokerGrinder. He invited me. Haha

I'm not sure how much of your income comes from Poker and machine sniping. If one or both of them are your main gig, then I think you should be fine for the most part. It's when you start to play other things like promotions, progressives, big mail and various other things that the casinos start getting very jumpy about.Quote: PokerGrinderMaxPen haven’t we had casino workers at the last couple of meet ups? As far as GlenG I don’t think a craps dealer is going to cause problems but then again I’m not an AP that worries about being seen.

The chances might be small that anything happens as a result of a WOV meetup but Let's not forget that many casinos are owned by the same company. A small chance could cost an AP a significant amount.
Lets also not forget that there could be someone who's a dealer now but at some point, they may be more than a dealer.
Crack out the non-disclosure agreements.

I don’t do anything except poker and machine sniping, I’ve never gotten into the other forms of AP much. I totally get why people here would be worried, Glen doesn’t worry me personally but I might not be on the lookout as much as you guys.
For the record I used to be a dealer.

I'm still kinda confused on this...worst case scenario, what would I even do? And why? It's not like they put bounties out on AP
