Sin City is okay, with its casinos, shows and good food, but I think something far more interesting happens in Nevada once a year in late August: Burning Man.

I've never been but have watched lots of youtube videos, and I am mesmerized and stunned by the whole experience.

It surpasses anything else in the world for creativity, coolness, and Good Vibe.

A couple of vids for those who care:

I always thought burning man LOOKED cool, but the idea of actually going seems like it would be fun for a few minutes and then the experience would rapidly decline.

No doubt the conditions can be unpleasant, with the heat and the talc-like dust blowing and swirling off the playa.

I suspect there is a correlation between the impression of the experience and the amount of psychoactives ingested.

It does seem like a cool event - but the Nevada desert in August? Without running water or AC? Isn't that how the Vegas mob used to kill people?

Good points; that's why I'm so thankful for all the great BM videos on youtube.

Like travel, why bother to expend the time and money to actually be there when you can see edited highlights from the comfort of your home, viewing it all on youtube?

Have some company in town. Just got done taking them on a strip helicopter ride. I would recommend that to anyone. Use Maverick.

Used to be dead heads and Buhdists, now its yuppies or something. One year some dude set fire to it on his own before it was to be formally ignited Wonder if they killed him or not.
Lots of wifi bandwidth each year.
I'd go but there is no casino

Kind of like Woodstock. Looks cool, a
happening event. I knew a few people
who were there and it was mostly a
nightmare. It rained, not enough bathrooms,
too many doped up idiots, traffic was
gridlock, no place to shower or get good
water or food. That's how I picture
Burning Man, on a lesser scale.
