Anyone else intrigued by this show?

I watched the first season on Netflix download and my DVR is programmed to record the new season.

It's gross, disgusting, and unbelievably sad. I guess I'm interested in the psychology behind why these folks do it. But as a silver lining, it does motivate me to throw stuff away, not buy stuff, and keep the house clean!

It is amazing, though the series gets a bit repetitive -- same mess, different house.

I've been in a couple places like that, be glad you don't have smell-a-vision.

Definitely a SSDD dynamic as far as the condition of the houses and the rationalizations. But the psychology behind the behavior and the reactions of the afflicated is always different and interesting.
