Quote: MrVBy the end of this century the changes will be quite evident.
LOL That's what they said LAST century and none of it came true. I just briefly touched on a little of what they said was going to happen in the 70s the 80s and 90s and absolutely none of it came true. This will be no different. There is only one thing that majorly league effects the climate on this planet and that's the furnace in the sky. You cannot predict when the next ice age will arrive, but arrive it will.
We should take this climate change discussion to DT: I put up a thread there so this one doesn't stray too far.
In December 1997 the average high temperature in Minneapolis, MN was 33.6°F, and this was 4.9°F warmer than the average of 28.7°F. ... Overnight the average temperature in December is 11.8°F and in 1997 the average overnight temperature was 10.6°F warmer at 22.4°F.
Quote: MrVUh, EB ... look at the glaciers ...if you can find any left ...
Plenty left. There are glaciers in Western Himalyas, Argentine Mountains and N America that are actually growing. Melting glaciers are something that's been going on that we know of for over 250 years. It's a very complicated science you can't just point to one area and apply it to the entire world. We are still coming out of an Ice Age that ended only 10,000 years ago. If all the glaciers start growing that's the time to worry because it means we're headed for another Ice Age.

Could not be further from the truth. I check in here periodically but I spend very very little time here. I read very few threads, I read very few long posts, most of my posts like this one, are short.

Florida authorities have informed residents of the Keys that they cannot protect them from predicted rising seas due to climate change
from the article:
"“The water is coming and we can’t stop it,” said Michelle Coldiron, mayor of Monroe County, which is where the Keys are located. “Some homes will have to be elevated, some will have to be bought out."
Geographer at the University of Miami Harold Wanless said there will be a day when people can not afford to pay their mortgages or insurance for homes before the entire Keys is under water, saying, “People don’t have a concept of what sea level rise will do to them. They just can’t conceive it.”'

LOL! They have been literally threatening this for decades. The Florida Keys we're supposed to be underwater by 1990. Then it was 2000. Now it's 'someday soon', they've given up committing to a date. New York City was supposed to be underwater by 1990 and then 2000. Just more scare tactics, more claptrap nonsense.

So far I am more accurate than all the chicken littles predictions everything is going to be underwater by 1990 the world is going to be starving or the ocean was going to be out of fish or a hundred other predictions that never came true.

So the last two nights we have been teased with lightning and thunder but it didn't rain until just after midnight when the skies opened up. It was raining so hard that I went out on my front porch to see it and noticed my neighbor across the street was also out watching it.
Suddenly, it stopped. As quick as it came it was gone. Hopefully, that's not an omen for the season. There are almost unprecedented fires in the northern part of the state, and around here, everything is a tinder box. My neighbor, a thirty-year volunteer firefighter says his department has never seen conditions like this
