For those of us who have farm chores that keep us from following every post in every thread, could you summarize what led you to this conclusion, without reference to any threads? I mean, if you're going to insult someone (or praise them, if by praise, you mean comparing them to a blond whose had multiple lobotomies), then at least do the rest of us a favor and do it well, none of this cheap and lazy, okay?

And while we're at it, why did you put this post in "Forum Info>Help"??? I suggest tossing the heroin. I think you got some bad stuff ...

I guess this board can get addicting to some, their many posts may also indicate a strong personality. If they knew it all wouldn't they be making money hand over fist at the local casino? So we have a teacher making a lot of posts, isn't that his paid job, to correct you?

That (grammar lessons etc) is what we are going to miss if he is driven away or at least restricted.
Most of us could do with a little English tuition.

I don't know what level of sarcasm/sincerity is in this post, but I definitely CANNOT take the comparison in the last line as a compliment.

So, thanks...sort of. And as far as your other comment, as they used to say in 1920s burlesque,

"No applause, please, just throw money." :)

I suppose that's a threat ... so, you think you're pretty tough, do you punk?! I'll block you right here and now, then the word will get out that you've been blocked, and that's not going to be pretty ...

But, as usual, my curiosity outweighs my desire to get blocked, so please, do tell, what are those connotations ...

Watch out, I think he's gonna try and cock-block you.

From the Urban Dictionary:

Cock Block: To interfere with a male's attempt to talk to a prospective romantic or sexual partner. Usually this is performed by distracting one of the parties, obstructing the path between the "pursuing" male and the person being pursued, etc. Reasons for "cock blocking" vary. The cock blocker may have the intention of talking to the pursued person; the cock blocker may not like the male who is attempting to talk to someone; the cock blocker may be looking out for the best interests of the person being pursued, perhaps due to their intoxication. Cock blocking may be intentional or unintentional.

Now that's a connotation!

Hmmm. While we're inventing new words (and tacitly acknowledging the Urban Dictionary as a valid arbiter of what belongs in the English language and what doesn't):

Dock-block: to prevent a ship from reaching safe harbor.
Jock-block: to exclude athletes from a venue, such as a nightclub or casino.
Shock-block: to stop someone from performing an action by surprising or scaring them.
Wok-block: to prevent someone from cooking Chinese food.
Talk-block: to put one's hands over one's ears and shout, "Na na na na na I can't HEAR you!!"

The possibilities are endless...

Well, that would be an upgrade for those words, since a neologism is a word that is "not yet" in mainstream usage...the entries in the Urban Dictionary probably qualify as neologisms, though.

There meets periodically a group of Wise Men who decide which newly coined words make it into the Merriam-Webster, Oxford, etc. dictionaries (sorry, Dictionaries), and which are relegated to the trash heap of history. Words like "hassle", "blog", and "G-string" are in the Dictionaries because of the endorsements of these worthies.

Koko the gorilla created the neologism, "candy drink fruit" when her sign language lacked a single word for "watermelon". If a gorilla can do it, so can I.

No, no, no, it's not the question for this thread. Who cares how he plays roulette, except you?

It hasn't dawned on smoothie yet that this is an intelligent website where intelligent people do not play roulette because it is not an intelligent game. Most of our vices have a much lower edge than 5.26% and for some we have at times a positive edge.
