.... when I mentioned that many of you are intelligent.
Here's what I made last night.
I've read the tautology of arguments on this forum in rapid succession. The tacit disagreement is overwhelming even though many of you fall under a limiting mathematical fallacy where craps is concerned. Your pseudorandom number interpretations through deterministic means account for a flawed interpretation of what truly happens in reality.
While you continue to fault me at every turn, I've won quite a bit of money over the last four months. If the majority of people were to listen to any of your advice, the casinos would cease to operate and no one would risk any amount of money in their establishments. After all, according to pure probability at face value, everything is considered a -EV event.
The difference between you and I is that I fully understand that not everything can be explained on a piece of paper. Even though I collect, analyze and calculate years of data related to football, I still have to put the eye test on teams to ensure the resulting calculations are as accurate as possible. This involves watching game tapes and doing a lot of additional work.
I will simply state that I will continue to make money and enjoy what I accomplish while you can wander the plains of cynical obsession. I flatulate in your direction. Smell heavily of my success.
Oh, I almost forgot the smiley face.
:) :) :)

ok, that was funny

In certain circles, to say something is done or understood heuristically* means something has been found to work by experience, but a scientific method does not underlie it. If that is what is working for you, though, there is no need to pretend math is involved. Just saying.
*in other circles, they don't like this definition of heuristic. In my usage here, as an example, it's where a doctor finds a certain treatment works for a certain disease, but science does not know why it works

After it types in the response, underneath the link it says something along the lines of, "Was that hard?". I just found it a funny after effect.

Your point is duly noted. Personally, I love math and its boundaries. Everything is well defined and has a purpose. I just do not believe that Math can solve everything. There's a good reason why I like Jeff Goldblum's character on Jurassic Park.
Quote: SiegfriedRoyTo me, it sounds a bit like you KINDA believe in math, but you also KINDA believe in luck and intuition; however you hate to admit it because it sounds too amateurish... I do believe in math, and I believe in the long run, everything will work itself out to the probability (unless you have psychic powers). I have a friend who plays poker, and he will always play 7 - 10 Suited. It doesn't matter if it's a hard raise, he will play it because he says he gets lucky with them. I just don't believe it. I think he might have already or will lose more money playing 7 10 suited, but he doesn't remember the bad losses, he remembers the good underdog wins. Long story short, whatever you are doing...aka playing $25 with a 1-6 bet spread with a $1K will eventually belly flop. Although I hope you never belly up as I'm always on the side of the player not the casino. I wish you the best as I'd hate to see anybody lose money from the evil empire! Good luck with what you're doing. If it keeps working, just keep doing it. Just don't lose back all the money you've made.
If you're going to play a crappy hand every now and then, to keep from becoming predictable, you could do worse than 7-10 suited. Poker is about numbers plus personalities, after all.

I don't disagree with you, but at a 1-2 NL, I can have pocket AA, and preflop raise to $50, and my buddy will call if he had 7-10 suited because that's his hand. I've seen him lose big, and i've seen him win some dumb hands with it. All in all, I'm saying in the long run, he will be humbled.

Well then that's just wrong!
+100Quote: RogerKintJoel, why do you bother with all this boring over-thinking, strategizing, and math? At the end of the day, you're gonna win anyways cause you're JoelDeze. If I was you I'd be working on my high-fives and "ship-it"s.

And then you showed up ,-)
Nice work! I read it three times and I still don't know whether you insulted me, praised me, or dismissed me. I still have no idea what you meant for me to take away, I will think some more.Quote: WizardofnothingCause you like to tow the line at times
