I just learned about the Downtown Container Park at 707 Fremont.

see: http://downtowncontainerpark.com/

I wondered if it's worth checking out, or is it failing?

I keep hearing good things about it on the Five Hundy podcast. So much so that I've included it in the walking tour I proposed for the day after the WoV Spring Fling:

I was there a few months ago. Worth going to. Just past the El Cortez on Fremont Street. Good beef jerky store there.

Totally agree Wiz, I bought beef jerkey there the first time I went and it was really really good.

I've been there once, in Feb. 2015. Met up with a friend and her husband and their 3 kids. Kids played in the playground, we had a few beers. It was really cool. Lots of food-truck-style restaurants, but we didn't get food there.

I haven't been back since, but it left a good impression.

I asked because there's talk of putting one in up here outside of Portland.

Big Ern's BBQ is my favourite food in the container park. Everything has great taste.

I can speak only to the Mexican place, which was also good. Not the usual gringofied Mexican food but about half-way to authentic.

What's the most interesting thing about it? I actually haven't been yet.

I hear the containers can be converted to cheap housing and we have over 50 million not really being used.

I didn't care for it. The only interesting thing about it is the archetecure/layout. Otherwise it's just a bunch of overpriced boutique stores with a flame throwing praying mantis out front. IMO only. They do have concerts there though. Female singer, can't think of her name right now, that sings Leaving Las Vegas had a concert there when I was nearby. Got pretty congested. Plus a playground for kids there IIRC.
