Quote: JohnnyQWhen they are out, I think they are less intrusive than they used to be.
I read somewhere they are not allowed to touch pedestrians and ever since then I make no effort to avoid them and even speed up a bit to increase the odds of a collision. My observation is they are very good at slapping within inches of you but never make contact.
Quote: JohnnyQWhen they are out, I think they are less intrusive than they used to be. A number of years ago, it was common for them to slap the cards at me while I was walking along the strip holding my wife's hand. I mean, c'mon !
You were just playing tough to get.
My very first visit to Las Vegas was on a weekend break for our project team -- after a week-long task in Barstow and preceding a similar one in Yuma. One member of our team was 6'4" or 6'5" and weighed about 360 pounds. He was so annoyed with porn slappers crowding the sidewalks that he walked at a brisk pace, without veering at all, and watched as they jumped to get out of the way of the oncoming locomotive.Quote: WizardI make no effort to avoid them and even speed up a bit to increase the odds of a collision.
Quote: FleaStiffBack when Terribles was named Terribles they had this tiny phone book in the room that was a very local yellow pages. I counted something like 37 pages of ads under Entertainment Services, all of them 'not an agency'. So I wondered even then why they needed all those porn slappers.
Multiple channels of distribution. There have to be people have no idea to look in the YP. I still say legalize and have both a dedicated red light district as well as some sort of assurance a place is regulated. "Legalized" does not mean make it so a girl can let her pimp get entry and clean your room out.
The girls in Vegas have no incentive to avoid robbing their customers. Its easy, its quick and it lets them get another client right away. Eons ago a cab driver got offered 200 by a hooker who was being chased by a man with no pants on. Cops finally found his wallet under her wig and darned if she didn't say "I didn't know it was there".
Quote: boymimboIf you stay up late at strip properties you will see the prostitutes up and about. Saw quite a few at MB during my last stay last April. And when it appears that you are single, I've been approached several times.
First time I was ever in Vegas, I dropped my bags off, went and played BJ for about an hour, won about $100 and a prostitute followed me up the elevator at Monte Carlo. This was at about 1 AM. I did not oblige.

A lot of customers are probably stupid, though. Don't let her make you a drink, don't let her take a minute longer than needed to get down to business, and throw her out right after. Heck, you are paying so she leaves right after.
You shouldn't stereotype people like that.Quote: AZDuffmanBeat me to this!
Are any porn-slappers not illegal aliens?
I'm sure there are some Ex-con porn slappers who are US citizens.
pickpocketed DT. I tried to make a
complaint to the cops on bicycles
under the canopy and they called me
a liar. They said I had a hooker in my
room and she rolled me.
I was flabbergasted and pissed. They
refused to even take a written complaint.
There were no pickpockets under their
beloved canopy (it had recently opened)
and there never would be. I even had
them call their superior and he showed
up and said the same thing. He did say
if I wanted to make an issue out of it I
had to show up at the station, but he said
to just forget about it instead.
I have never trusted Vegas cops since.

Why didn't you hide the cash in pill bottles?
Quote: RogerKintWhy didn't you hide the cash in pill bottles?
You forgot to *mic drop*.
Quote: RogerKintWhy didn't you hide the cash in pill bottles?
What do you think led to the pill
bottles? This incident, duh. Have
yet to find a better hiding place
on my person.
Quote: AxelWolfI'm not sure whats worst, hiding money in pill bottles, or clown shoes.
It works fantastically well. It's easy to
lock in a pocket and I always know
it's there. $5000 fits in a small plastic
bottle, slick as a whistle. People who
tried it think it's implausible, I wouldn't
carry money any other way now. I like
it better than a money belt.
Rolled tightly, this tiny bottle holds
50 $100 bills and is easily concealed
on your person. The fact that you
make fun of it and ridicule it just
shows it's effectiveness.

Let's assume you have 5k in cash that you want to protect. What is the reason for using the pill bottle again?
Let's start with getting on the plane to Vegas. I will start you off with a possible pro of using a pill bottle. If it falls in the urinal while washing your hands, it won't get your money wet.
FYI. I thought about putting money in a pill bottle long before you ever mentioned it. I quickly realized how dumb of an idea it was.
Quote: AxelWolfI quickly realized how dumb of an idea it was.
You have to actually do it to
see how well it works. It can
be hidden in so many places.
On your person it's easy to seal
in a pocket because it's so small.
You are always aware of it because
it's hard, it gives you secure feeling.
It especially carries well in the bottom
of a cargo pants pocket. I've carried
it in my buttoned shirt pocket in a
glasses case. It's a lot of money in
a very small space. How could that
ever be a bad thing.
You once said if you're mugged, they
steal your drugs too. Duh, they also
look for money belts if they're smart.
You're screwed if a gun is pointing at
you, what's your point.
Quote: onenickelmiracleThere is a limit to what a wallet can hold before it cannot be closed. Doesn't matter how the money gets stored, envelope, box, pill bottle, etc. at the point of too much.
If you are having that problem, try exchanging those singles for 5s or 10s. They take up less room.
EB, with opioids on the rise a pill bottle might not be safe anymore. People would steal that in a sec if they see it.

Nobody sees it except me, are you nuts?
What do you guys think I do, set 5 grand
on the table when I eat? Pull it out when
I'm playing and peel off bills? Are we even
in the same universe?
Quote: EvenBob........... Are we even

I think we have all been wondering that about you for years.
No one sees my wallet either so I just keep my money in there. When I am carrying large amounts of money, usually over $40 I keep it in my shoes. I will be pissed one day if I get robbed and they want my new balance.
Quote: SOOPOOHas anyone EVER spoken to a porn slapper other than a 'no thank you'? If you asked them about specific 'services' or specific types of girls would they even answer you? Price? What % of them speak English?
I've noticed a lot of them are wearing headphones and listening to (what I assume is) music while they're working.

They listen to the Alex Jones podcast.
IIRC you originally brought up putting money in pill bottles as a good way to get money through the airport undetected.Quote: EvenBobNobody sees it except me, are you nuts?

Are you willing to admit that's probably a bad idea?
However last month I watched a full blown “3 Card Monte” game on the overpass between Cosmo and PH go on for at least 30 minutes. You would think Metro would be pressured from the casinos to bust these scams.
Did they get your chain?Quote: BozThe other thing I noticed less of on the strip in 17 was bottled water sellers on the overpasses. These also were mostly Hispanics. Not to make it political but I do wonder if there are less willing to do this or the city cracked down?

Damn Penn & Teller were young!
Quote: AxelWolfIIRC you originally brought up putting money in pill bottles as a good way to get money through the airport undetected.
Still do it. I divide my daily pills into
separate bottles, say 7 of them. I
have 2 other bottles with cash
inside mixed in with them in my
carry on. Nobody in security has
ever given a 2nd glance at the
bottles, why would they. And even
if they found cash, I'm going to Vegas,
not leaving the country.
They see prescription bottles all day
long, everybody has them now. What
could you fit inside that could harm
anybody. So they never even look at
them.
Inbound: My hometown bank has branches in LV. I have taken the bus to a branch to make RF VP deposits.
- Not often, mind you, but I have.

Why are you so against doing this, you
have better ideas? Lets hear them.
Seattle sometimes I use Bli sometimes I fly out
of Seatac been doing it for years. I carry
5-10 grand in the front pocket of my jeans
along with a ridge wallet for credit cards
just before I go through the scanner I pull it
out and wave it around like what about this?
they see it and wave me through every time
never had an incident, scratch that several times
they made me put the ridge in the bin.
as far as getting robbed? I don't really
think of myself as an easy target I'm not
to worried about it.
Quote: EvenBobWhy are you so against doing this, you

It's not really that hard. Put a rubber band around it and stick it in your pockets Try to keep packs each 10k or under.

A gangsta bankroll, nobody will ever see
that and target you for robbery. Do you
have Benji's on top and ones in the
middle to make the roll look even fatter?

While you are huddled over the toilet hiding in the woman's room popping your pill bottles I can simply reach into my pocket and peel off what I need. This stuff is not really that hard.
Quote: MaxPenI can simply reach into my pocket and peel off what I need. This stuff is not really that hard.
I can't count the number of guys I've seen with
big rolls and the easy targets they make
of themselves. It's part of the male ego
to have that big roll. Sinatra carried a
huge roll of nothing but hundreds and
he never looked at it when he tipped
a valet or a waiter. He just peeled off
a Benji and gave it to them. But he had
bodyguards, no worries.
I prefer being inconspicuous, rubber
band rolls are for the more adventureous
types. Danger is not my middle name.
Back in the days when I was going to Vegas each weekend, bankrolls were not that much in danger on the streets but inside the casinos despite all those cameras and guards, railbirds were everywhere and tipsy patrons bumping into you were common. Despite it being a dead giveaway to pat your pocket after being bumped, most people cant resist it.
Of course with what I was carrying, some pick pocket would probably have thrown it at me and yelled "cheapskate''. One cashier even asked me if I wanted a security escort.... after I had cashed in a white chip rather than let that casino take my last dollar.
