From the the article, he was looking for plant based medicines to synthesize. Probably for profit?
In the article it stated he was upset about how people were using it recreationaly and thought it should be used the way South American Shaman use medicinal plants, some treatments being pshycoactive like Ayauasca or mescal cactus, ceremonially, and with spiritual reverence. He didn't suggest it be used like Martini's, or whiskey.
I believe for every natural disease there is a natural cure, that is why I think it is so tragic to recklessly log the Amazon. Fewer than 10% of the plants have been studied for they're medicinal efficacy. IIRC, 60% of medicines today originate from plants, not to mention reptiles, and marine animals.

LSD is the one thing that made high school bearable.
My sister was 2 years behind me. I embarrassed her a few times. She's my best friend so she's forgiven me.
I may be in my 60s but still wouldn't turn it down today.
I'm not going to go out looking for it. But if the opportunity arose, well....
