If anyone is looking for Burt's AMEX Card or the Smokey and the Bandit car, check this out at the Palms. Looks like Burt wasn't too wise with his money over the years.

That playgirl centerfold cost him alot of missed income, he probably had the same advisers everyone else did who said 'you can always refinance'...though he claims the auction is not rooted in financial distress.

The official story I read denies money problems and stated a lack of desire to hold onto so much stuff.

I also read the claims that he is not broke, however he is fighting foreclosure on his house in Jupiter Florida. Maybe the two have nothing to do with one another, but I will take the odds they are.

"Broke" can mean different things. Burt has not done anything big in years. While I am sure he has saved and invested, he cannot live totally large.

BTW: The car is *not* a movie car, it is Burt's car. The movie cars were mostly destroyed by the end of filming.

I believe Turd Ferguson took that already.

Lots of cool stuff, and much with very affordable auction estimates in the $200 - $300 range. Of course some stuff is listed for $100k+, but I would bid on a pair of boots.

It seems a little odd to sell things gifted by others who are still around. I wonder how Sally Field feels about him selling the engraved gold pocket watch she gave to him?

Many of the items have already passed the pre sale estimates well before the live auction during online bidding.

I think this will blow away all estimates.

He's not "broke" but he is having cash issues. Bad business deal and bad divorce settlements. Broke would imply he has nothing of value. He has lots of "stuff", just not enough cash. This auction will change that for sure.

Maybe not, "THE" Bandit, but you have a shot at his jacket.

Nah, I just want the car.

There's a few things of interest there. I'd love that Orr sweater, for one. I'd of course take all the guns. And I'd not mind his mustache, as I still can't grow one myself.

But seriously, it's almost Xmas. If anyone's had a good year and wants to make a gift to your ol' pal Face, I'd die for that Chicken Pit jacket from Stroker Ace. It don't even have to be the one from the auction, I'll take a knock off =D

Kidding, of course. But that's the item I covet the most.

Why have an auction in Vegas next week?
Isn't this the slow season for Vegas? One of slowest weeks of the entire year.
Why not wait a few weeks, have the auction on Jan 2 Fri or 3 Sat, Vegas will be packed, more bidders, higher prices, better return :-)

Rooms are cheap during the slow weeks, keeps the overhead down. Most of the action will be on the phone or online anyway.

Edit: Oh, yeah, isn't the rodeo in town??

I don't care about Burton (aka Turd) or his knick-knacks one way or the other, but I'm struggling to get a handle on what kind of baller crowd this is going to attract to the Palms next week. Will this be more or less weird than a Star Trek convention?
