I recently acquired a new Time Warner Cable modem. With this modem I'm surfing a lot faster now than I was before.

The above image is from Speedtest.net. The almost identical results below are from Speakeasy.net:

Download Speed: 108340 kbps (13542.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 10887 kbps (1360.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

I'm curious. What's your current speed?

Looks like some of us will no loner have COX envy. I never have liked COX myself now I know why.

1 ping would suggest you are very close to the server. I don't think that speed is available in Las Vegas through cox yet. U can even see the speedometer on the site were you test does not even go past 100 and you are at 108.

What do you pay?

No because you would see the expression on my face. You can ask others that have meet me I razz people often(poor Djatc) but I'm not venomous

I think you know it was banter. If not or non the less then I do apologize. I don't think you really welshed on a bet. Nor did I want to make others think you did. I will give it a rest, I need to get some stuff done and this seems like a good time.

You're confusing latency and bandwidth.

30 is more than enough to stream high-def video though, or even the "super-high-def" that Netflix and Amazon Video offer. Higher can be useful if you have several people in the household streaming at once, or if you're downloading very large files. For me the only time it's relevant is if I'm downloading a large game from PSN. It might be several gigs, so higher bandwidth means I don't have to wait as long.

I'm paying for 30mb/s, so this is slow to me. I know we share our wifi with neighbors who mow our lawn and such, so maybe that accounts for this speed. I sometimes do a speedtest on my phone when I'm out camping somewhere and get only .25mb/s lol

The Cox service is slow here in the NE... they enjoy collecting $$$ more than DL/UL speed.
Everyone in the US should envy the European BBS's. rawtuff's pricing is incredibly cheap.

I actually get much faster speeds downloading from sites like google and Microsoft. This test was run on my wireless laptop, too. When you get to a certain speed, though, you're testing the speed of the (connection leading to a) remote server instead of your own connection.

It would be nice if sites like this that supplied would work without hand editing. But it's probably for the best that the Wizard makes us fiddle with codes and work extra time to make posts.
