Does anyone have a logical reason why hotels don't provide toothpaste and a toothbrush? They provide virtually everything else.

Maybe. I got a room upgrade at Resorts the other day that seemed like a suite and didn't get any toothpaste.

A lot of AC visitors don't have teeth.

A toothbrush at the Venetian costs eight dollars. At Terribles, it costs 96 cents.

Thank you, sir, for the horrible thought of steak sauce-flavored mouthwash.

On a more serious nite, my favorite amenity, if it can be called that, is a set of slippers.

http://www.slate.com/articles/life/culturebox/2013/07/toothpaste_in_hotels_why_do_they_provide_shampoo_soap_and_high_end_toiletries.html

Quick answers:

1. Tradition

2. Hotel ratings/evaluations don't score for it

3. People are used to bringing toothpaste with them.

4. Toothpaste is not a "status symbol" for luxury hotels the way other high-end toiletries are.

Some of the Hyatt Regencies provide little tubes of Aquafresh which I really like.

Every Holiday Inn Express I've stayed at, all within Mexico, have little sign int he bathroom saying you can ask for almost any complimentary toiletries by calling the front desk. They mention toothbrush and toothpaste.

It's a waste providing them for most people. Many will provide them free if you forgot them.

My experience also; if you call the desk and ask, they generally have them for guests.

I've always thought that was weird the rooms don't include a small toothbrush/toothpaste kit, because that's one of the items I have in my bug out kit for this very reason. I did receive a gift of bed bugs from some hotel when I brought it home though, so I suppose that's where the resort fee goes to.

A bed bug kit is a hell of an idea. What does it include? Or am I just misunderstanding you?

You misunderstood me. A "bug out" kit is a bag filled with essentials for a few night stay if there is something going on at a casino and I can get rooms. It usually includes change of clothes, toothbrush/toothpaste, razor, laptop (for analyzing crap/porn), player's club cards for the outlying area, and plastic bags for old clothes.
