Trump double downs and/or pretends he didn't insult anyone, or even argues they deserved it. You have to do all that, I think.

"People" don't like Trump. He has the highest dislike rating in history. The media like the shock value and the celebrity, so they're wall-to-wall on him, but they did the same for OJ, if you recall.
35% of NH Repubs voted for Trump. 65% didn't. Out of 284,120 Republican votes, Trump got 100,406.
Another 250,983 people voted for Dems, not for Trump.
And there were a total of 882,959 eligible voters as of Feb. 5th in NH. Of which 347,856 couldn't be bothered.
Which means that Trump was liked by only 11.3715% of eligible NH voters well enough to turn out for him. He won't be elected Homecoming King any time soon. I wouldn't consider him a role model for anybody.
As to Larry David, he's playing a figure of fun, a person to laugh at because he's such a grumpy old guy. He's fine on a television, but nobody wants to live with him or date him.
Whoa! Give us grumpy old guys a break will ya? And to think I almost asked you out on a date ;-)Quote: beachbumbabs"
<big snip>
As to Larry David, he's playing a figure of fun, a person to laugh at because he's such a grumpy old guy. He's fine on a television, but nobody wants to live with him or date him.
So I call the number back, 770-296-1119, and get the voicemail of Capt Brian Rowland. I left a msg, " I just got cut off with Lance Watkins and I think he may have missed when I invited him to come blow me (more graphic ). Then I called my local city police to report the incident, asked for an officer to come by and write a report. This is a good dept, in an affluent suburb of ATL, don't know why they allow me to live here ;-) So the officer shows up in a few minutes and seems bored with the whole situation, but assigns a case # and says I can pick-up a copy of the report in a couple days. Excuse me? I think if I were in law enforcement, somewhere near the top of my list of intolerance would be bad guys that are attempting to prey on the citizenry in my city pretending to be law enforcement officers. Maybe I'm wrong. I know they are stretched thin and all that, but really?
So I meet the bus for my son, then run to the store for some things for the stir fry I'm making for for dinner, and damn if I don't get a call back from Capt Brian Rowland who is just 'returning my call'. I gave him another msg for Lance and invited him to come have seconds, he hung up. So I call my friendly local police 911 again, report that I am still being called, got a call back from another officer, more friendly officer, reiterated the events of the day, and was told the detectives would look into it and get back with me. I have not heard back yet.
So a little later, say about 9:00 last night, I called a friend and asked could he look for any info on this tel # 770-296-1119. Took him about 60 seconds to tell me the number is owned by one Gene Fletcher born 8/25/76 with an address of 121 Old Dahlonega Hwy, Dahlonega GA 30533. My friend really is Fed Law Enforcement.
So I've been a little heavier armed today than usual, had another friend call the #, hasn't been disconnected yet as of a couple hours ago. If you got a minute, just for fun, why don't you try 770-296-1119 and ask them how to turn yourself in for missing your grand jury summons. Let me know the response you get. Or you could just give them a msg from 2F, feel free to be creative.

Truth be told, I wanted a little more info than Google was going to provide me. Dahlonega is about an hour north of me. I made a couple of other calls. I thought about riding up there last night. Just 15 years ago I would have. I might still go tonight.....the funny thing is, Siri can take me right to the door!
<Edit> I forgot to mention earlier, one of my neighbors at the school bus stop asked me today why there was a police cruiser down by my house all night last night. I answered, honestly, "I didn't know there was".. So now the neighbors wonder why the police have me staked out, again. I'll let them wonder......

maybe so, but date of birth and all that is doing pretty good. How about mother's maiden name, SS # ?
this sort of prankster stuff used to be more common, but now that there is caller ID, not so much. Plus fewer and fewer people observe the phone etiquette that used to be taught, and that, actually, used to include the thought that it was necessary and important to answer the phone when it rang. Boy is that one dead as a door nail with me.
PS: one thing to take away from this is that it is almost always a scam when someone claims to have important business to discuss with you and they are doing it by phone or email. Sometimes they pretend to be the IRS, which is in fact one of the outfits you can be 99.9% sure will not contact you by phone or email.
I pretty much insist on US mail for anyone trying to contact me with important business.

Google also provides an email (which I still can't post) and possible relatives.
The government doesn't do business over the phone, or via email.
Police get boatloads of complaints about phone calls, little to be done about it. If you got mail from a Nigerian prince would you call the police, or just throw the letter away?
No one is coming for you, stop answering those calls. It'll go away.
Maybe I mis-understood your response when you used the term 'prankster'. The guys I dealt with yesterday, and suspect I am going to deal with again, are not pranksters. I hope I testify against them. They are slick, they sound official, they give numbers and names and addresses that ARE valid if you follow up on them. But they are just scammers. I don't know why I even answer the phone anymore except that Ms Evelyn down the street will. I answered for Ms Evelyn.Quote: odiousgambitmaybe so, but date of birth and all that is doing pretty good. well, yes, Fraudulent operators is the other possibility.
"failed to show up for jury duty" seems like an odd way to start things out though

That's some pretty impressive cognitive dissonance considering Trump got more than twice the votes of any other GOP candidate. Clearly some people want him to be president.
Maybe you weren't listening, maybe you were and simply misunderstood. Yes, "you failed to show up for federal grand jury duty and there is a bench warrant out for your arrest " was the way it started. That is very different from 'you failed to show up for jury duty'. Why is that odd to you? Call the number, everyone needs to call the number. The number needs to be locked down, tied up forever. I'm sure you had a point, but I missed it.Quote: odiousgambitwell, yes, Fraudulent operators is the other possibility.

What the hell is a fraudulent operator precious, what is that?

I'm thinking a phony telephone call is either a prank or an attempt at fraud. It is difficult for me to place it in some third, other category.
Was it a legitimate call? Is that what you are saying? Some court in or near Atlanta calls you from a private residence? Doesnt send you a letter or make a visit but makes a phone call?
Precious? I could swear I was trying to help. Silly me.
I'm not calling the number, dude.

Trump is not popular enough to get elected in the General, which is what this is all about, in the end. Everybody the whole way except possibly Ted Cruz is the lesser of two evils (at least; some are actually people some voters want to support) when compared to Trump.
That's all I'm talking about; putting the whole race into perspective. Yeah, 11% are angry or star-struck or whatever enough to follow Trump. 11% doesn't get him elected. Neither does 35% of Republicans.
Quote: RonCI don't know if this is the episode or not, but maybe you can find more info here if it is not:
"The lawyer of a 14-year-old boy claims he is not responsible for the beating death of his friend because he has an extra Y chromosome and is genetically predisposed to criminal behavior."
That extra Y chromosome is also present in many priests and doctors.
I have accomplished a ton today. Took down my 34k Christmas lights, replaced a water spigot that froze, and installed 2 new LED shop lights in our basement including new wiring from the fuse box.
What shall I do next, this weather just puts me in the mood to do stuff.
93-2003 WERE FANTASTIC. The day I walked out and quit my job was one of the most memorable days of my life. I couldn't wait to wake up each day. I jumped out of bed for at least a year as if it was the first day of summer break as a kid and I had a real hidden treasure to find. I was young, care free, single(well kinda) and happy as I could be. I spent less than 8 hours at home practically everyday. They say time flies by when your having fun but I remember the first few years seemed like they were long lasting fun. I added lots of social time to my life as well as playing. The stuff I was playing was fun and risk free. Every 5 to 20 minutes you got a rush of excitement hitting mini jackpots. Even if you didn't hit something that round it was like playing a tournament and you have the lead.Quote: TwoFeathersATLJust looking back and reminiscing, 1996 was a good year, and then along came 1997!
Side note: It took like 3 days to analyze a Video poker game on my computer.
