Just read the thread for the first time in 10 days.
Do you have any idea how funny all that is to take in at once?
Let's see what I can remember.......
Gators, advice was just don't be the slowest in group. What if it's just you and gator? Same advice I guess;-)
Sports runners/times. I can still run 12 minute miles in a 10K, no big deal. Didn't start running till in my fifties. Only ran one race a year, for 5 years, The Peachtree Road Race on July 4th. 10K = 6.2 miles. Best time was 3 years ago 57:35. Was sick the next year, couldn't get a spot in the lottery the year after, and now I'm too lazy to run. Except, ( see above ), better be one of the faster gators, I might could be young again for 50 yards...
Disney, BABBS had it pretty right. Do not take a child to Disney that is under 8 years old, period. dbl period. I know all of your neighbors took their 5 yr old and 3 year old and 6 month old in a stroller. F them, your neighbors are crazy! If you Reeaaaaaaallllly want to go to Disney, leave your kids with a babysitter for the day and go. I am serious. Freakin country is nuts when it comes to Disney. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE DISNEY!!
Kids under 8 are a waste of your money, and your day, and your kid's day at Disney. I fought for years with Sparkles over this and I gave in at 7 and 9 year old sons. I try really hard to never fight with Sparkles... Trip would have been 50% better for all, 75% better for sons, if I could have held out for 2 more years. Serious!
When you have to go, the advice for planning sites is dead on. Use them, then start over and turn the whole thing upside down and start over. It is worth the effort.
Ginger or MaryAnn? That's a tough one. We talking about for a day or the rest of your life?

Heeheeheehee. Thanks for the laugh. Well said.

I just opened one for fun. I had 2 cherries but 5 or 6 of all others.

Same reason a can of mixed nuts will have significantly more peanuts than any others.

That's why I just buy cashews :-)

Although, the Songified version is much more entertaining!

Funny, everyone says the cat is friendly and laid back. She lays around mostly.

I love cats. The more comfortable they get with you the more arrogant they become.

I hate cats.
I used to love dogs but as my dog approaches 15... well nevermind.
I enjoyed the time with the family...can't wait to do it again!!
Yeah, but our dog gets comped nights in our bed and free table scraps. Cats eat Friskies and sleep outside!Quote: rudeboyoiCats are APs. Dogs are ploppies.

At our resort both the cat and dog share the bed with the owners. They both also eat from the family buffet. I must say that the cat is much pickier when it comes to food. The cat has also become spoiled because it prefers its water right out of the tap. Almost every time someone goes into the bathroom the cat jumps up on the sink and waits for you to start a stream of water for it. I have no idea how much water we waste by forgetting to turn the faucet off after the cat is done.

Quote:The Drinkwell Mini is the perfect fountain for small or medium dogs and cats. The Mini Fountain spouts 40 ounces of fresh, filtered water, giving your pet the option to drink from the flowing stream of water or the shallow bowl. Your pet's drinking water is filtered through the activated charcoal filter, keeping water clean and fresh-tasting. The patented free-falling stream of water adds oxygen, which keeps water naturally cool and encourages pets to drink more. The narrow, compact design is easy to fit in any room in your room, and the fountain comes apart for easy cleaning.

The cats have automated water fountain filtered water streams and automated feeders (2) with only the best of the best of cat food on a timed schedule. If I don't shop, and then cook, I starve. How did I wind up here?

I think his exact command when I asked him about shooting pigs was "if you come back with any bullets left, you are never allowed to hunt here again"...so we opened fire and laid down a vicious fusillade.
To be clear, these are feral hogs...

Did you cook them? Feral hogs are a menace in many areas, actually most areas that have them, OK everywhere. Did you cook? They eat good if cooked right. If you cook them left, well, it could be a disaster ;-)Youuuuuu MIGHT be a 'rascal' if.......(nevermind ;-)...2F

We took the pork loins from each of them since they were fairly small (>100 lbs). The larger boars are nasty smelly things best left for the buzzards and other scavengers. The females are okay when larger unless they are in heat. The problem is there are literally millions of them tearing up property all over Texas.
The owner took some smaller ones into a poor area of town to offer them to residents. None of them wanted to clean them and get basically free food. I guess being poor is different than when I was a kid--we ate all kinds of game animals to supplement the meat that we could afford.
I never skinned an animal. I met people who have. I would imagine it gets bloody.
It's an opportunity to do movie impersonations of bloody scenes.

I've seen various ways to skin animals. One of the funniest (to me), involved a golf ball, a rope, and a truck. They essentially just pulled the skin off the deer like a wrapper. Wasn't bloody at all.

Still trying to work out the mechanics for which the golf ball is required. Grew up with hunting; had to clean and dress the birds, but was spared the large game; they field dressed them.
Lot of feral pig hunting throughout the South; they're prolific. It's been my experience that it makes great sausage (mixed with appropriate fat and spices), sometimes good smoked but usually not as ham or bacon.

It involved cutting the skin around the neck, and the hooves. The golf ball is placed underneath the skin, and then the rope is tied around the ball from the exterior of the skin, to the bumper of a truck. The deer was anchored to a tree, and then they just pulled forward slowly with the vehicle.

She's holding the top of the bikini/bra.
The golf ball acts like a saddle horn, the rope wrapped around the skin under the bulge of the ball; otherwise the rope would rip through the skin wherever you tried to fasten it, AFAICT.

Correct! You're much more proficient at articulating the procedure than I. I haven't had the experience of skinning anything myself, so the reference was a little bit more awkward for me to describe.
On cats...
If you want to see the full sized image of someone's avatar, do the following;
Right click on the image and select "Open image in a new tab" or whatever similar option you have. This will bring up a new tab with a thumbnail of the user's avatar. From there, look at the URL of the image. You should see something similar to this;
Quote:https://wizardofvegas.com/images/forum/9833/thumb/IMG0991.JPG
The part that you're interested in, is "/thumb". If you remove this portion of the URL, you're left with this:
Quote:https://wizardofvegas.com/images/forum/9833/IMG0991.JPG
You will then have the full resolution of the uploaded picture.

Whatever haopened to your casino gig. I thought you had a pretty prominent position. There's gotta be a story worth sharing now that we are some time from the end.

Since May or so. My hat's off to BlueEagle. Dunno about him but I just put in an 85hr work week, and that's with a day off for Thanksgiving. I'm looking at 90+ hours for this week, possibly over 100, and other than Xmas day and New Year's, I don't have a day off until February. As if I needed another reason to hate the holidays ><
Quote: GWAEWhatever haopened to your casino gig. I thought you had a pretty prominent position. There's gotta be a story worth sharing now that we are some time from the end.
Meh, not all that spectacular a story. To put it simply, the rez is very political (at least out here). I've worked for the Nation gov for 10+ years, I've seen it all. Just the most asinine appointments based completely on political ties and cronyism with no basis in skills or education. My branch within the casino historically has been separate from all that and was made that way intentionally so. While it was a branch of the gov, it was autonomous. The way it was set up, there could be no political influence and life was pretty sweet.
It was sort of a perfect storm scenario. Just the right people in the right places at the right times, and boom, it all came falling down. Political appointees gained a foothold and many of the upper level professionals were ousted. I went from correcting $9mm errors and revealing $40mm frauds to being sent on wild goose chases doing entry level HR work, all politically motivated. It was absurd. The upper level stuff I pursued on my own was repeatedly left on a desk to rot, as no crony had the ability to grasp it. It began to kill my spirit. Then the hijinks started with flooding every level of the operation with more cronies, and that was the ball game. We were the gatekeepers to integrous gaming; you can't have corruption in our own actions and my integrity is not for sale. That was that.
Of course, I suppose I may have fell a little too far into my ego, thinking that if I rose that high in the ranks without trying, I should be able to really hit one out of the park if I tried. No big deal to tell the job to pound sand, right? Look how special I am! 15 months and a near financial catastrophe later, I'm slinging mail 80hrs a week for ~$16/hr in a NY winter.
I'd say I learned my lesson, but I don't think it's quite over yet =p
