Doesn't seem like this thread is keeping within Wizard's new guidelines of getting the site back to gambling/Vegas related topics. But what do I know....there seems to be some inconsistencies within the implementation of those guidelines.

Trust me, she spent tens of thousands in research before saying it. There is nothing she does without already weighing if it will help or hurt her. She will be elected even if she told the truth about the people that will come out in droves to vote for her. No different than 2008, the media wants her elected and she will win, even if Abe Lincoln was the GOP Candidate.

Yes. Just like the Obamacare/Hitler posters lost that debate :)

The simplicity of such an argument ignores evrything about Hitlers Reich AND the complexities of the Ukraine/Russia situation. Easy to digest, but not showing international understanding.

But no, I dont think that screws her chances of winning an election. Or improves it either.

Godwin's Law is ridiculous and roughly equal to Mark Twain's Cat.

Twain held a cat wouldn't sit on a hot stove twice, but that she wouldn't sit on a cold one either.

The fact is Hitler, as despicable and evil as he was, also was very successful politically (and in a minor and limited way militarily as well). So were many others with totalitarian designs, like Stalin, Mao, the Kims, etc. Therefore he, and the others, get imitated by wanna-be tin pot gods all the time. Of course there's plenty of overlap. It's not a moral failure or a fallacy to compare anyone to Hitler in some respects if the claim can be subtsantiated. Or for that matter to Stalin, mao, the Kims, Castro, Chavez, etc.

He is probably just looking at her and Bill's history. She is nothing but Mrs. Bill Clinton anyways. But back to point. They focus grouped to see where to go on vacation. As governor he researched and found how she needed to change her appearance after it arguably cost him an election. In 2008 she had a whole crew with different color pantsuits under the lights to see which looked best. They focus-grouped or researched just about everything.

When she does answer off the cuff, as when she said she didn't care how many businesses closed because of HillaryCare, the media brushes it away.

This one is funny. First she uses her "reset button" to set our realations back to 1979, then she says this.

If a conservative made this comment the lamestream media would be leading with, "X said Putin is like Hitler, did they not know Hitler hated the Russians?"

Even the DNC can't name a thing she has done on her own.

I have it on good authority that a republican will win. Some nut case in a casino yelling about a choppy deck or politics, can't remember but Democrats had enough time in office to tick off voters, just like republicans during bush ii. Also the bac board I read was choppy so I'm going with that.

November will tell what kind of repeat of 2006-08 we are in. So far looks very familiar.

Senate looks poised to flip. Obama has declining popularity and it seems his cheerleaders are getting tired cheering. Economy is very so-so. Gasoline is going up in price even with increasing oil production. Front-runner on the Dem side is an aged has-been/never was and the rest of the bench is really thin to empty.

Whoever the Democrat is that runs has nobody to blame this time.

My guess, right now, is a thin Democrat win in 2016. Unless that Democrat is wildly effective (or sits on a huge rising tide of growth), they don't get a second term.

Republicans don't look quite set to define the debate themselves, but to react. They don't have an Obama-like (or even Bush/Clinton like) character to drive a campaign rather than react. This may change rapidly. Republicans best chance is to define the campaign on the economy, with a sprinkling on foreign policy and social programs (like healthcare). If they can work out a catchy, self-reliance, low tax type of message, I will revise my view. If they start talking about moral issues (gay marriage, abortion etc) they lose... because it's then a debate that is hugely polarizing, and the Republicans need to avoid polarizing the electorate. They need to soak up on the edges, make a people come with them.

And who is on the Republican bench? Absolutely no one who could win a general election.

Hillary may be "aged has-been/never was" in your (Republican) eyes, but be realistic, that's not the way the majority of Americans view her. Aren't her favorability ratings quite good at the moment?

And yes, the Senate may flip this November. But look at the map of 2016 senate election states. That is going to be an extremely tough year for Senate republicans.

Still plenty of time out for a GOP Governor to emerge. The front-runner is not supposed to emerge 3 years out. As to her favorable ratings, they tend to go up when she is quiet and down when she starts to talk. When she gets to talking she often sounds shrill and mean. She cannot inspire, which is why Obama knocked her off in the primary.

If the GOP takes POTUS in 2016 the Senate will hold. The economy may recover a bit it the GOP takes it and keeps Obama from doing any more damage.

Always is, though history is for it as no Democrat has succeeded a full-term Democrat via election since before FDR. Other than Bush 41 no party has repeated since the same time. After a guy serves his full 8 years Americans tend to flip sides.

Nope, just watching as history is about to repeat itself in 2016. Republicans were giddy after 1994 and 2010, and they'll be giddy again if 2014 is good. Unfortunately, they conveniently forget what happened in '96 and '12.

That is not much data to base it on and this idea was shown to hold very little water by Nate Silver http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/07/18/the-white-house-is-not-a-metronome/?_php=true&_type=blogs&_r=0#more-40759 . Does the GOP have a better then 50% chance that is a big maybe is it essentially guaranteed like you are making it out to be no way. I mean the only clear loss in that time frame is McCain losing and that was due in large part to basically a universal disapproval of Bush Jr. Gore was a very close election in 2000. Bush Sr won in 1988. Nixon's lost in 1960 was razor thin.

Republican/Fox talking points from McCain/Graham on down are focusing on smearing the hat trick target of Obama/Clinton/Kerry on foreign policy, not on solving the mess in the Ukraine. Not surprised to see drivel related to this disparaging started here, especially directed at Hillary, since ZERO content is directed at anything she did as SoS, it's all dog whistles to undermine her possible candidacy and suitability as President. When asked about what they would do instead, these so-called leaders either dodge the question or list off about 5 bullet points that are ALREADY being done by the Obama WH re: sanctions, assets, diplomacy as if they're new ideasd. I'm disgusted with the lot of them, and some of you, in putting politics above the better interests of this country during a delicate and volatile world situation. Silence and solidarity serve our world interests better in helping the Europeans bear the short-term disruption of their energy pipelines and Russian trade agreements in order to ally with us for a reversal of this aggression.

Done with this thread of garbage. I agree with kewlj; we don't need this here.

Actually, IMVHO, it won't be Hillary in 2016. It will be Elizabeth Warren.

When BO slipped past HC in 2008, that was the end of HC as a viable candidate for POTUS. The same groups will push EW to the front again.

The Washington Post is tracking people that compare Putin to Hitler. Here are the current standings:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2014/03/05/all-of-these-people-have-compared-vladimir-putin-to-hitler/

In fact, he looks nothing like Hitler. The correct comparison is below:

Hitler and Stalin, probably never been two world leaders more alike that hated each other as much.

Putin does not want to be liked, he wants to be feared. Obama wants to be liked. Obama stopped construction of missile defense because he wanted Putin to like him. Putin took this as the sign of weakness that it was.
