I was a really big wrestling fan in the 80s and most of the 90s. I think by 2000 I was done and never looked back. It was when the promoters starting giving themselves the belt or giving it to people like David Arquette. Add to that I was doing wrestling training and people who still watched were considered "marks".

Well back to topic I have been seeing stuff for the 24/7 WWF network that will be like the Netflix of wrestling. It will have tons of old matches all uncensored from the WWF, WCW, and ECW libraries. They also have wrestling reality shows where they take people like Mean Gene, Howard Finkel, Roddy Piper, Hillbilly Jim and others and put them in a house. I don't know for nostalgia reasons I guess it interested me.

Just wondering if any current or former wrestling fans will think about getting this. I guess it is 10 dollars a month if you do a 6 month sub and that also covers all live broadcasts going forward as well as all the PPVs. People were telling me Wrestlemanias alone were getting to the 100 dollar mark(no pun intended).

Nothing beat watching Mick Foley getting thrown off of the cage and through the announce table or Austin tormenting McMahon every week. The 80's was when I started watching and around 2003 is when it got unentertaining. The early to mid 90's want much better. Don't watch it now.

I was a wrestling fan till the John Stossel report. A wrestler popped his eardrums because he didnt like Stossel exposing the whole thing.
I then got disgusted.

As a kid I went to Madison Square Garden to see Antonino Rocca (a favorite), "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers (a favorite even though he was a villain), Bruno Sammartino, Haystacks Calhoun, Dr. Jerry Graham, Killer Kowalski and loads more. My father would take me and I thought wrestling was real even though the matches were called exhibitions. (The fans seemed to think they were real too and some of these ploppies would throw bottles and other dangerous stuff into the ring.)

Somewhere around 10 years old I realized that no human being could fight several times a week and not be beaten to a pulp. Still I loved to go.

As time went by, well, time went by and I lost interest.

On rare occasions I have watched matches over the years and while I think many of today's wrestlers are magnificent athletes (and actors) the exhibitions do not rouse the emotions as they once did.

WWE is coming here in a couple of weeks. I'm not going but 15 years ago I would have had front row seats.

This story got me to go to the WWF site and check it out. They had a ticket link there. I guess now instead of having the chance to camp out for tickets, they block all the best ones off for a VIP experience which involves the seat and meeting a wrestler and your own entrance etc. Long story short ringsides are 600 bucks now.

I guess that is all across entertainment now. They figure they should get the money themselves instead of letting brokers and scalpers get it but still somewhere a fan got screwed. The way I remember it for PPVs and Raws are they put them on sale during a house show. So you would wait in line the day before(sometimes 2 days in my case) and then buy a ticket for that nights show but don't go in just wait outside. Then you bought your tickets and went inside to catch the 2nd half of the house show.

I don't use the other name. Vince shouldn't have been arrogant towards the Pandas. All they asked was for him not to overuse the name outside the US and he went full bore when they did the UK PPV. The name change happened after I stopped watching anyways so I guess that is why it will always be WWF to me.

My alltime favorite matches were the Iron Sheik vs Sgt Slaughter.
Saw alot of blood on the forehead of those matches.
Later I learned wrestlers cut themself on the forehead to bleed for the fans.
Then I got disgusted.

Painkillers and repetitive concussions. I hadn't realized Test (of Test and Albert) had passed away either. I watched in the late 90's and early 2000's, after reading Mankind's biography, and because there was a neat (trading) card game called 'Raw Deal' (play tester for a couple of the expansions).

It was male soap opera. It's not designed to be watched for years and years... they'll repeat the stories, the moves and the turns every so often, because they know they have a turnover of their fan base. If you watched it as that, it was kind of fun, but the amount of punishment they put on their bodies, I always applaud when guys quit after a good run...

I'll be getting it.

I was a little surprised it includes WrestleMania. Then again, I wouldn't be one bit surprised if they announce, either six months or a year from now (when most of the subscriptions are up for renewal), that the price will go up to $15/month (which would be the same as "$10/month plus a mandatory $60 WrestleMania surcharge").

I also have a feeling "uncensored" will be modified slightly the minute somebody notices Chris Benoit wrestling on a 1990s WCW Nitro. (WWE took great pains to remove every instance of Benoit either wrestling or being involved in an interview from the shows on WWE Classics On Demand.)

They already said Benoit will be fully included with a warning before each match. Also Jesse Ventura's color commentary will be re-added to all the matches he called.

Loved wrestling until Wrestlemania then tuned in and out. I would watch it on Netflix but would not pay for it. 80s were the second golden age of pro wresing but we didn't know that until decades later.

I enjoyed "Championship Wrestling from Florida" with Gordon Solie in the 70's. I was timekeeper for a few matches when I was sitting ringside--the promoter was too lazy to do it himself and asked if I wanted to do it since I was sitting right there. We had a group who would get front row tickets for the shows...one of the grandmother's stood in line for us when tickets went on sale the day of the show.

Jack Brisco was my favorite wrestler. My favorite villain was Buddy Colt.

I watched WWF/WWE some in the Rock era...just not the same anymore...

I used to be a bigger fan (would get good seats for TV shows, etc), then I attended WM XIX and figured that was the pinnacle so I kind of stopped after that. I've started watching casually again, just bits and pieces of Monday Night Raw. I won't be getting the subscription because it would become a HUGE time-sink for me and Mrs. Slyther would probably hit me over the head with a folding chair.

I wanna say I watched a part of a WM or the Royal Rumble live because the cable company screwed up and didn't scramble it. Same goes for the Playboy channel a couple of times. ;)

My favorite wrestler was the first football player cut by Lombardi " While playing for the Green Bay Packers on both sides of the line (1951-54) " he got hit in the throat and could not speak for 6 months. Afterwards his gravely voice was real, and not part of his act.

If your tombstone was at the level of Undertaker's in his WM match, Mrs. HowMany has nothing to fear. That was almost at the Botchamania (as seen on YouTube) level.

Speaking of Undertaker and WM, Busted Open reported that Vince McMahon missed the main event of WM because he was at the hospital with Undertaker, who apparently suffered a serious concussion. (There is talk that the reason he did not appear on Monday Night RAW the next night was because he was still concussed and somebody was afraid he might become incoherent on the air - remember, RAW is live, at least out east.) However, it is not true that they changed the result of his match because of it; it was always intended for Lesnar to win.

Oh no, another non believer in wrestling. Only Mr Peabody and his WABAC machine can foretell a wrestling result.

Unlike the NFL, wrestling is not fixed.
