The gaming is regulated but the rest of the entertainment market is not. The rest of the economy is not. I will restate my position, the casino should be allowed to choose if they want to pay higher wages or not to meet their business objectives.

Of course the casino should be allowed (government word) to pay what they want. Nobody forcing the employees to work there. Nobody is more free market than I.....Mile Marker 164

You are a dyed-in-the-wool conservative. Rush & Sean would be proud. You and Beethoven9th should get a American flag tattoo on your cheek (4 cheeks) possible.... if you already haven't.....

As a conservative do you believe that the AZDuffman Casino staffed with naked girls should be allowed (government word) to open today in Phoenix? Just on a whim? I know the answer, Mr. Free Market. LOL (a la Beethoven9th)

ACE do you own horses that race at Aqueduct?

Just wondering because you sound like the horsemen that share greatly in the take off those machines and are afraid somebody is taking a small slice to share with the workers that help make that big piece of the pie

These slots in NY are funding purse pools for racing if I am correct. Yonkers races for the biggest pools in harness racing history due to the slot money coming in. Top end drivers that used to make their living chasing the stake races purse pools no longer do that, they race nightly at Yonkers and have increased their take home doing so. All because the horses are getting a good piece of the action

IF RW is funding the purses at Aqueduct so the RICH OWNERS of the TBREDS can get richer why shouldnt they pay a decent wage to the workers?

click this link to see the insane purses they race for on Friday ... horses in claiming races going for purses greater than their claiming price>>? You know what this does to the horses >? they are injected with whatever prerace is working without detection at the time

Do you think the slots money should be going to those VERY RICH horse owners before paying a living wage to the workers in those slots buildings>?

You are trying to make this a 1% versus 99% issue - which it is not. The slots money should be going to the owners of the casino and they should, in turn, pay rent for the space.

What about General Electric and companies like them who pay almost zero in corporate taxes - should all those profits not going to taxes go to the EXTREMELY RICH majority shareholders or should they instead revert to those earning less than a living wage?

Why not pay everyone the same for every single job and then nobody will be jealous…? However, good luck convincing the guy who has to perform neurosurgery that he should be compensated the same as the guy who sweeps the floors at Resorts World.

Just curious, I'm not saying that there's a wrong answer here. Do you believe that a Neurosurgeon, if offered the same pay, would ditch his chainsaw scalpel and pick up a broom to sweep floors all day?

Sorry but I have never been a tattoo guy. Kind of hate them. Always have. As to your other question I doubt I would open such a place though it would make employee chip theft harder. The market would close such a place as it would attract a limited demo and a less desireable one at that. I would prefer more gaming licenses be available. I wish I had a sports book here in pa as I could relax there in addition to the casino lounge I am writing this from.

YES! But, if everyone earned equal pay, who would choose a profession such as neurosurgeon or even the guy who has to change the lightbulbs on thetop of skyscrapers…stress, danger, life/death decisions? Society rewards (or, at least used to) ingenuity, intelligence and talent. Without such carrots...

I'm sure there are some that would but I think that most would remain Neurosurgeons. I don't think I'm earning the most money that I can right now but I'm happy doing what I do because it's rewarding. I don't think I could sweep floors for a living and stay sane.

Given what it costs to become a neurosurgeon, and what it costs in malpractice insurance to remain one, there may or may not be an increase in janitors, but I'd anticipate a shortage of surgeons in the near future.

The problem with all this talk is people are assuming there is this odd dichotomy either we have to leave things exactly as they are with super high income inequality or we have to have everyone earn exactly the same. Thats silly no one in the US is suggesting that a CEO should earn exactly the same as someone working in McDonalds. People are simply arguing maybe he doesn't need to earn 100,000x as much maybe he can be happy only having 1 or 2 megayachts.

Do you think the CEO would agree? Do you not think our opinions are all colored by our station? Do you not think the people earning minimum wage would gladly trade places with the CEO (that is, until they realize the extreme stress and intense focus (and sleepless nights) it takes to be a CEO)…?

Doesn't even have to be level if the CEO. Some people of nothing to improve their lot and wonder why they are at the bottom. Stayate, work nights, take training on their own time. Nothing. Then they say we need to increase minimum way because they deserve a raise. The fact of the matter is the only real way to get a real raise is increase your skills and value.

I may be wrong but Limbaugh said something about an NFL quarterback for the Eagles(?). Basically saying that if it wasn't for his skin color, no one would think he was special. At the time, McNabb (I just looked it up), was pretty remarkable.

“Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?” Limbaugh once said. (http://www.snopes.com/politics/quotes/limbaugh.asp )

But your right I'm sure those weren't racist at all. Just statements of his opinion and I'm sure it had nothing to do with those people being black that is just a coincidence I'm sure. Also I'm sure you're not going to ask for a misogynist statement he's made since he makes those all the time.

Apparently you don't understand that the minimum wage benefits everyone.

Employees benefit because it raises pay without causing unemployment. (Normal market supply and demand forces don't apply if your intentions are good.)

Employers benefit because workers are more productive. (They're too ignorant to voluntarily increase wages.)

I'm proposing a minimum wage of at least $100 an hour, maybe $200. There's no reason everyone should only benefit a little when instead we can all enjoy unprecedented levels of benefit. Worker productivity at such wages would be inconceivable!

come up with the Magic Negro thing,
it's a classic. Some black guy who works
for the LA Times wrote it.

Rush has everybody fooled, you know. His

Who's ignoring it? Too bad Rush didn't
come up with the Magic Negro thing,
it's a classic. Some black guy who works
for the LA Times wrote it.

Rush has everybody fooled, you know. His
phone guy is a black dude named James
Gloden and he's been there since the show
started. Him and Rush are best friends. We
all know it's just a front to hide Rush's racism.
Wink wink..

Knowing or associating with blacks does not mean your not racist. Strom Thurmond had a child with a black woman he was still an incredibly racist 20th century politician. Also yes magic negro has been around for a long time its a stock character and yes a black man from the LA Time did write about Obama being a magic negro that does not make it not racist for Limbaugh to play a song about it. Again there is a double standard between what members of the group can say and not be offensive and what outsiders can say and not be offensive. Blacks can use the n-word and not be accused of racism a white person uses the n-word and probably some racism involved.

Rush is just fooling people, he hates James just
because he's black, I'm sure of it. He has to, for
it to fit the Lib template..

And these are bad things? I don't get where
you're coming from. And when do we get to
see Obama's grades from Harvard? Why are
they under lock and key?

Yes racism is bad. Also he got magna cum laude so top 10% of class and a GPA north of 3.5. I mean why would you need to see exact GPA you know what honors he got does it matter if he got a 3.6 or a 3.8. He got less then 4.0 and more than 3.5

And when he had Clarence Thomas at his wedding,
or the 50 times that black college professor has hosted
his show, these are just smoke screens for his
bigotry. He's got em all fooled, but not the Libs.

Nah, this isn't racist. Joe Biden on Indians:

"You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking."

Again are you denying Strom Thurmond was racist since he had a black daughter who he continued to secretly support through college. It takes more than a few black associations to make someone not racist. Racist doesn't necessarily even entail hating all members of a racist just feeling hatred in general towards them. Haven't you ever heard terms like "Well he's OK he's one of the good blacks." That statement is blatantly racist but clearly acknowledges the existence of blacks that its fine to hang out with.

EDIT: Oh if you don't get why the statement about good blacks is offensive it is because it implies being good is a rare quality amongst blacks that you need to set apart.

That is incredibly racist and when he said it I found it incredibly racist. Again I'm not being hypocritical about this. So I admitted Bidens statement really racist and offensive are you willing to admit any of Limbaugh's statements are just as racist and offensive?

I agree, Rush and Thurmond are obviously related
somehow, cut from the same cloth. How could
Rush be friends with James Golden, it's preposterous.

Very good. But is Obama racist? Even Bill Clinton said that Obama played the race card on him:

"I think that they [the Obama campaign] played the race card on me, and we now know from memos from the campaign and everything that they planned to do it all along."

And there's this. Whoa!

That is a parody of an article in the LA Times as well as Joe Bidens nrgro dialect comment. Is Biden a racist? And Obama himself suggested blacks look the same with his Travon comment didn't he?

I love how you just won't admit Rush is racist. I point out racist statements that Rush made oh yeah well Biden made this racist comment and I agree its racist. Then you immediately go to another statement to try to deflect from Rush. Were the statements I quoted from Rush racist.
