I'm currently writing a book on the JFK killing, so I thought I'd take a poll of you cats on here. How many of think that Oswald was the lone shooter; and how many of you think some sort of conspiracy was in play? Feel free to elaborate if you think conspiracy was involved, hey hey.

Read Killing Kennedy by Bill O'Reilly. You won't need to write anything.

I've read O'Reilly's book, and every other book on the subject, as well; including all volumes of the Warren Report many times over. I will say that my take on the killing, is somewhat unique, hey hey.

An always fascinating topic. Good luck with it! I do not believe Oswald acted alone. I have no details or unique perspective to offer on it. Just that the physics of how his body moved in absorbing the bullets as seen on the Zapruder tape did not support a single point of fire, nor did his wounds and splatter patterns match a single-shooter answer.

For a different perspective, read "Mortal Error" by Bonar Menninger. Oswald was not the only shooter and there was no conspiracy ... at least not until after the shooting.

Lone shooter. I buy Posner's idea in "Case Closed."

"Case Closed."

Good book, but I'm afraid he didn't close the case for me. Still seems possible he did not act alone.

Having said that, it drives me crazy to read a consipiracy theory where Oswald was not a shooter at all and was just a completely innocent patsy!

And I am pretty convinced there were no other shooters.

I believe Oswald was the lone shooter, but he did not act alone, there was some kind of conspiracy at hand. Looking at the evidence:

First, Oswald didn't need a second shooter, nor would one likely be able to hide well. Oswald was a Marine, trained to shoot. And if you have ever been in the area it happened you will be amazed at how small it really is. Slowing the car down to make the turn is all that was needed.

Next, Oswald was something special for some reason. You do not just renounce your citizenship, then defect to the USSR, then come back with a Russian bride, all in just a few years time and still in your 20s. On the face of it, the Russians would have little use for such a guy and if they even took him would have placed him away from the Russian population. To believe he would be allowed to marry a local, then leave her defies all logic.

Finally, Oswald was taken out just too fast and too easily. A professional shooter would not just catch a movie after it all happened, they would have already had a hunker-down safe-house in place. To try to escape would be difficult, but to just try to wait it out in a safe place less so. My guess is Oswald was told that someone would pick him up after and they did not show up, so he hid in the best place possible. When he was picked up he realized he had been sold out.

It has now been 50 years, I am waiting for some dying old man to claim he was involved, same as we had a dying old man claim to be John W Booth.
