I want to open a savings account at a Las Vegas bank (with access to a safe deposit box). Doesn't really matter if its located near the strip or not.
I want to deposit my roll and access it from a branch or ATM. Plus, I need a safe deposit box to store fake ID's, player cards, and other misc AP paraphernalia. Ideally, the safe deposit box will be at the same bank as the deposit account. I have no interest in a box at one of those crooked operations where the owners rob you.
Any ideas/recommendations? Thanks gang!
Safe deposit boxes rent for a very reasonable $25 per year. Some branches are open Saturdays and some aren't, so if accessing your box on Saturday is important to you, check that out.

Nothing at all. If I thought there was I wouldn't recommend this bank, nor bank there. :-) I was just throwing it out there as some background.

Ahh yeah but.... the nearest branch is 2000+ miles away from Las Vegas, where he said he wants the bank located. Lol
Quote: kewljA lot of players in your position choose one of the national type banks like BofA,
BofA works for me. They're all over Vegas and my
branch is 4 miles from my house. I used to carry
$5K to Vegas in a pill bottle, now I take no cash
and just get it from the bank. Peace of mind:
priceless.

I have an account with BofA, as well, EB. That is my preferred way to move funds when I travel. No large blocks of cash trough the airport of stashed in the car. When I arrive at destination, I just visit the local branch and there is a branch near every casino destinations that I visit.
Now there has been some issues with BofA and Wells Fargo as far as AP's. Several full-time AP's have reported that both these institutions have closed accounts on AP's and requested that they bank elsewhere. Hard to get the exact story from some of these guys, but the common issue seems to be frequent, large cash transactions. I am not sure why this would be an issue. Not sure how it is different from a retail business that makes frequent (daily) cash deposits. But that is what several well known AP's on a different site have claimed.

About 5 years ago, a teller I'd known for years told
me the bank has to fill out a report for the gov't
every time you do any kind of business over $4k.
He said the amount keeps going down, it was $10k,
then $8k, god knows what it is now. It's not a deposit
or withdrawal report, just an activity report. If a
bank see's a lot of these, they might ask you to
leave, I'm guessing.
I checked the Nevada State Bank website, and they have lots of branches throughout Las Vegas- awesome!
Is there a particular branch you would recommend for a safe deposit box. I prefer a branch in a decent neighborhood.
I'm traveling to Vegas next week and would like to open an account.

Yes, that's a SAR (suspicious activity report). The Financial Crimes Enforement Network, (FinCEN) requires banks to file a SAR for transactions of more than $5000, that they suspect involves money laundering or criminal activity. 'Suspect' is the key word here. As an AP, I am upfront with my bank about what I do and my needs involving cash, which should remove any suspicion, thus eliminating the need for this extra work.
I suspect not all AP's are upfront and discuss their situation with their banker as there is an air of secrecy among AP's. But really, there is no reason not to. I see it as beneficial. Explaining my situation and needs allowed me to get a much higher daily limit on ATM withdrawals. Of course in Vegas, professional players are surely more common than other places. I suppose if you live in tim-buc-two, Iowa and tell your banker that you play blackjack for a living, he will look at you as if you had a second head growing out of your shoulder. He probably would not only file a SAR, but contact the local mental facility as well. Lol

Thanks!
Not a local (might as well be) but the Southern Highlands one and The Lakes one are way the hell out there. The Pebble Market Branch would be pretty convenient if you are going to Green Valley Ranch; just get off the Green Valley Parkway exit of the 415 and turn left; there's a shopping center with a Smith's and other things.Quote: KeyserSozeHey locals- I'll be in Vegas soon and wanted to open an account at a Nevada State Bank branch. I'm looking for a branch in a decent neighborhood with convenient access. Due any of these fit that criteria:

There's also a bunch of locations closer to the "center" of things, including downtown and Maryland & Flamingo (super convenient and good neighborhood): https://www.nsbank.com/locations/ The McCarran Center branch is close to the airport car rental place.

Yeah, that's what I had assumed too. It just seems so much easier to get an account with a bank like BofA or something.
U.S. Bank was and has been good for me and they gave me a lot of bonuses for signing up. (Hey, it is Vegas).Quote: Beethoven9thYeah, that's what I had assumed too. It just seems so much easier to get an account with a bank like BofA or something.
