We're going to be staying at Sams Town...so we'll likely eat at The Firelight Buffet once or twice....but what about like Friday or Saturday night buffets?
We're thinking about like Eastside Cannery for dinner Friday Night (since its not a "seafood" night, its only like $11)
Then maybe The M, for Saturday night (since we've heard such rave reviews about its buffet)
Steer clear of Terribles!!

Now, M resort. Oh the M resort. Used to be such a fantastic gem tucked away 8 miles south. But they have just gone downhill, alarmingly quickly over the last year. Once fine BJ games are now just crap. One fine bounce back mailers are now just mediocre. The place just has a junkier feel to it these days. The once very fine buffet is now, just mediocre, and because it is now only mediocre is way over priced. I still eat there, but only because it's free. I would not pay money to eat at the M buffet, at least not the kind of money they are charging
Edit: add-on. I forgot to mention Sam's Town, where you are staying. Crappy blackjack, so I don't play there, but will still make the trip for the buffet. Fireside buffet is a decent little buffet at a fair price. I particularly like breakfast there, although the toaster for toasting bread is painfully slow. lol Best to put your bread in the toaster and then go get the rest of your meal and come back for your toast.
My favorite buffets are:
#1) Aria
#2) Bellagio
#3) Caesar's
#4) Eastside Cannery
#5) Wicked Spoon (Cosmopolitan)
#6) Main Street Station
#7) Silverton
#8) Green Valley Ranch
Quote: Zcore13The M is excellent on the South side and Red Rock is excellent to the North/West.
The line to the Red Rock buffet can get extremely long. Those with President and higher cards have a line cutting priviledge, so I imagine it moves slowly. The Wynn buffet can also have an enormous line.
I'd like to mention the Mandalay Bay. It is pricey, but good, and I've never seen a long line.

Sounds something like Penn Gaming would do. At least they haven't trashed the video poker at Hollywood St. Louis...yet. It's currently better than M Resort.
M is good, but the wait was long and since I don't drink, part of the purchase price was for naught (ullimited beer / wine with your meal).
Quote: MrPapagiorgioJust a tip to get buffets cheaper - get the lunch buffet instead of dinner. If you want to eat more at dinner time, go at the end of lunch and stay through dinner time, and they let you sit right through.
That is not True of all I have on many ocassions tried that however in vegas th emajority of the buffets close for a brief period in order to put out the few different items that change on the menu from lunch to dinner. Meaning that you have to go when they close, they will come around and let you know. So that trick has been tried and found untrue on many ocassions.

I go to the M purposely at the end of breakfast. You get the breakfast price and get to eat breakfast first and then all the good lunch stuff. Best deal anywhere. The person that seated us even told us that.

I have never tried this in Vegas, but at least for all CET properties I have visited nationwide, breakfast/lunch/dinner is a continuum and you can show up at the end of lunch and stay for dinner. But are CET buffets in Vegas cheap? No. Are the cheaper CET ones worth eating? Probably not. I wouldn't be surprised that cheaper buffets in Vegas kicked you out for a transition.

Exactly !! I am a fat person so always searchin makin sure those cheap eats are there and thus far MSS is the best it gets in vegas for price, choice and quality. Yes they do boot you at transition. As do many others in Vegas. Can not go unless I have mapped out all of my eats, coupon clipper and all to the max all because I am a degenerate fat bastard gambler.
Quote: TIMSPEEDSo the gf and I are going to Vegas this weekend...we're not first-timers...but we don't want to eat at the CHEAPEST place either...

Some buffet notes; apologies in advance for repeating what others have said:
* Sam's Town has a coupon in the ACG for a free buffet with 200 points earned. At a dollar a point, reaching 200 is trivially easy at quarters and above - and they do have some good video poker. It's good for any meal, any day - even specialty nights.
* I ate at the ECan's buffet a few years ago, back near the time it first opened. It cost me about $5 all-in, and the food and service were just about with it. Not impressive. It's hard to imagine things haven't gotten better since then (as the reviews here seem to imply), so take my review with a grain of salt.
* I wouldn't travel from the Boulder area just to visit a buffet that's better - even a lot better. If I wanted to visit the Strip, or downtown, or the outskirts of Henderson for some reason at that time and wanted to sample a buffet, then that would be a different story.
* I found the Fremont buffet just OK, with MSS a half step better. I usually don't consider the MSS worth the extra 3-4 blocks there and back unless I have specific business to conduct in the area.
* I like both the Rio and Gold Coast's buffets, both several miles to your west. Considering you can get 2-3 GC buffets for the price of one at the Rio, you can see where the value is. Don't go out of your way for either of these.
* I prefer visiting coffee shops on the weekends when prices go up (this is a bigger problem in Reno), so you might want to consider that.

First of all if you have to earn 200 pnts that’s not a “free buffet”
I am a fat degenerate fat bastard gambler so to give up the weekend buffets for a coffee shop would be a killer as I can not go anywhere without mapping out all of the free buffet eats along with clipping coupons as I am a buffet closer. Only time I can go is the weekends. I have found the majority of Fremont street buffets to be of no good no matter the price. Your post has told me nothing new.

Best tip if offered at whatever buffet you go to.
The buffet at the Fremont is nice enough, and they have "no sugar added" desserts, if that is a concern. Good service.
The MSS buffte is good, with lots of variety, and a very, very nice dining room.
The regular buffet at the Rio (not the seafood one) has the best quality of such buffets I've tried.
The Paris buffet has very good pasta, otherwise it's nothing special. But I like the cozy dining room. Very good service.
Quote: slytherI've always liked Carnival Buffet at Rio
As long as you start on the LEFT and work your way to the right....those that have been before know the best stuff is on the far left hand side
