Does anyone here know computer stuff for Windows XP, I have an issue with my Yahoo mail. (There should be a computer section on this board).

The best way to get a solution to your problem is to describe the issue in detail, along with what you have already tried to fix it. Even non-computer experts may have experienced a similar issue and be able to help if they know what it is.

Good point. In my Yahoo email, I have all SPAM emails get deleted immediatly, they never show up. This worked just fine for months but now....they are back in the spam folder. I re-checked, its still marked as 'delete immediately'. I did all the usual scans etc., nothing has worked.

Doesn't sound like the problem has anything to do with WinXP -- it sounds like it's all within Yahoo Mail.

I would first check any filters that you have in Yahoo Mail, and see if any of them are sending mail to your spam folder. In such a case, the Yahoo Spam filter (which you set to "delete imediately") might have no effect.

Also, are you accessing your Yahoo Mail through a web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.)? If not and if you are using a separate email reader, the email reader (Outlook Express, Thunderbird, etc.) on your computer might be receiving spam from other sources.

Have you made any changes recently with your computer or with Yahoo Email?

Any changes? Yeah, lots of porn sites. I did my scans but nothing came up. (I use internet explorer). I might take it in for 'repair'. Its not a huge issue, I can live with it, I simply delete the contents of the spam folder. Thanks for spending your time on my question.

Just don't look into spam folder. Problem solved.

It doesn't sound like your computer is the problem -- it sounds like the problem is on Yahoo Mail.

However, there has recently been a rash of Yahoo Mail account hacking, and someone could have gotten to your Yahoo account through an "infection" in your computer. Do you have a lot emails in your Yahoo Mail "Sent" folder? If so, your Yahoo account has been hacked -- change your password immediately. You might also have to "disinfect" your computer to keep your Yahoo Mail from being hijacked. I would do any online banking until you determine what is going on.

Regardless, again, check your filters in Yahoo Mail -- your filters may be sending emails to your Spam folder.

A virus scan is probably a good start, but I honestly can't recommend any method in that regard, as I have no experience in dealing with viruses, malware, trojans, etc.

Judging from the thread linked by miplet, you might first check to see if most of your spam is coming from Yahoo Mail addresses. It is likely that the global Yahoo spam filter would have a little trouble filtering those email sources. Furthermore, in light of the recent rash of hijacked Yahoo Email accounts, that would explain a preponderance spam from yahoo.com addresses in one's spam folder.

However, such a scenario would not explain why your "delete immediately" function is not working.

Once again, EXAMINE YOUR YAHOO EMAIL FILTERS to see if they are sending emails to your spam folder. These filters are different than the one that you set to "delete immediately." If your Yahoo account was hijacked, these settings could have been changed.

Another reminder, avoid online banking/betting until you have resolved the problem (or boot a Linux live CD to do your banking/betting).

Ken, I also have Y-Mail, and its a them problem. My Blocked Addresses aren't working either (even using wildcards).

This started in early-mid MAY, and its cascading through the Y-Mail system, as I did not have anything unusual until 2 weeks ago.

1.) Check your inbox for new spam, and flag as spam.
2.) Move unwanted stuff to Trash as normal.
3.) Empty the SPAM folder TWICE, once is from the list, the second time is from the server.
4.) Empty the TRASH folder TWICE for the same reasons as #3.
5.) CLOSE the browser... all windows. Make sure that doing this removes all cookies, and personal info. (Firefox can do this in EDIT---> PREFERENCES)
