From the perspective of a casino:
I want the second player to be able to play so that they have a good experience and come back. If they leave because they can't find a spot to play they are likely to try somewhere else next time. Also, two players means two bankrolls. You have the potential to win more money by allowing the second player in. However, I don't think most places would require a top player or big bettor to drop a spot or give up a machine to an unknown player. "Everyone is equal, some are just more equal than others."

We have a rule regarding playing more than one slot machine that is probably out of the norm. A player may play two machines that are side by side IF they are playing them steadily. If someone is just throwing a coin or two into the machine next to them once in a while they would be required to give it up. You would be surprised how rude and ignorant people can be when they want to play a machine that someone else is playing.

A simpler rule would be that a player has to give up additional spots at the request of the pit boss. That's what he is supposed to be there for, !

It's a forum And yes, I do vote with my feet and leave an ungrateful casino. But, please be honest, and do not
be offended, how much trouble have you had getting a seat at a BJ table ? Ever played the Dumb Blonde ?

I don't think I'm treated any differently at a table. If it's full no one makes room for me, and I would never ask. And no, I don't play the dumb blonde. I play the anal-retentive blonde who sits there and plays basic strategy on every hand at every table and sometimes whips out my sheets for reference.

One time, and I don't remember what casino I was at, I was playing Pai Gow Poker at a table where another person was playing two hands. She was betting well over twice the minimum, but she varied the amount she bet on each spot. The rule enforced on her, by the dealer and pit boss, was that she had to set the hand she bet the most on first, before she could set the second hand. Of course, once her first hand was set, she could not go back and change it after looking at the second hand.

Does playing multiple hands give someone an advantage? Could an expert blackjack counter turn a multiple betting position scenario to her advantage? And if so, wouldn't that be reason enough for a casino to discourage multiple betting positions even when there are no other players?

In Pai Gow you're not supposed to share the contents of your hand with other players. With more info, you may change the way you set your hand. Similarly, if you're playing two hands, it's standard procedure to set the hand with the higher bet first.

In BJ, if it's a face-up game, then there's no additional info that multiple hands will provide that a different player at the same spot wouldn't provide. A single-deck face down game, is different, and there could be an advantage.
I invented a few casino games. Info: http://www.DaveMillerGaming.com/ ————————————————————————————————————— Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown. But how much does it cost to knock on wood? 😁

And after your last blog I am supposed to believe you never play a Dumb Blonde. Really ?
