I really want to vent about some other table game pet peeves. I think I'm spending too much time in the same casinos playing with the same regulars. They're starting to annoy me as if they were family.😄 Just so you know, I'm not a cranky player. I never reveal my frustration with the cards or players while at the tables. I've been told that I am very nice to deal to since I am always even-tempered and friendly, win or lose.

1. Drink/Ashtray/Cigarette Pack Spead. I feel your stuff should be in front of you. Not placed in the space between us. I really don't want my sleeve dangling over your dirty ashtray.

2. The Spectator Squeeze. There is barely room for 6 players, let alone 6 players and your spouse who wants to squeeze in between us to watch the action....give you an update of what they just saw in my hand.... while leaning one hand on the back of my chair so that I feel my chair move everytime they do.

3. Mr./Mrs. "Watch-Me-Squeeze-My-Cards". Usually the same person that waits until everybody else picks up their cards before they pick up theirs. Or they have to finish a conversation with the friend standing behind them. They then proceed to squeeeeeeeze while everybody watches them.

4. The Dealer's Assistant. Despite the competence of the dealer they always feel the need to call out what each player has after the cards are flipped over, tell the dealer the payouts, and tell the dealer who won the pot (Flop Poker). Even more fun when they kept track of the pot as each player's cards are revealed.

5. The Person Whose Cards I Always Seem To Have or Whose Seat They Should Have Moved To. "You have my Ace" or "I knew I should have moved over to your seat when the guy before you left". If you are going to complain that someone sat in the seat in front of you and took your cards, just keep moving to the end of the table as the seats become available so nobody "takes" your cards.

6. The Chronic Card-Sharer. Yes, I feel your pain. I've gotten my share of Ten/Four. You don't need to show me your crappy cards every hand. I have my own crappy cards. I'm all out of sympathy.

7. Mr./Mrs. "I'm unhappy with my $2k win because I was just betting more money last hand". Nope. No sympathy from me. Take the $2k and be happy.

I think that's the big ones. I won't dedicate any time to the gum-snappers, people who complain that their bad cards are the dealer's fault, or people who make "ugg" noise everytime the flop doesn't go their way. I have ear plugs for dealing with those people. Seriously, I carry ear plugs and I wear them from time-to-time when I need to tune it out.

I used to play but not any more. Just basic strategy. I may go to. BJ table with some match play coupons but that's about it now. I got too tired of the same scenarios. Me 19, Dealer 20.

I like the card sharers at the low limit live poker games...lol Half of the time I'm sitting next to someone that will occasionally show me their hand when I am out of the hand.

Is is normal to have EVENBOB personally attack someone who posts in the 'Gripes' section for actually posting a gripe? I'm not really seeing a reason for it.

that's just him. Use the block function if you need to. Yeah, it's normal. Tough to tell when he actually means it or when he's just poking and prodding for an aggravated response.

I was commenting on your complaint. You
want all men at a table next to you to sit
in a position that doesn't come into contact
with you, even if it's uncomfortable for
them to do so. Why don't you yourself change,
if you're the one with the problem. Expecting
everyone else to is a bit over the top.

Exactly Dalex64. But most likely he wouldn't need to because the man-spreaders usually don't encroach on another man's space. If he were sitting next to another man, everyone's legs would be a bit more closed and within their own space. Not touching. But it seems that sometimes man-spreaders are perfectly ok to have their legs touch a woman's legs and if she is not ok with it, it is her job to shift to accomodate his need to spread. My original post was just asking men to be a bit more considerate of the fact we don't want to keep being rubbed against. Even if it is just legs.

#1 and #3 stick out for me. With #1 I just move their drink over myself. And I understand "why" people squeeze their cards at blackjack. But it's kind of like watching someone shake their wrapped Birthday gift several times with comments between each shake about what they think it may be. Maybe someday I'll politely ask someone to squeeze their hand "before" it's their turn to act in order to not slow up the game.

JerseyGirl,

That is his game; he is deliberately offensive without (usually) crossing the line into a provable personal insult, as he did here in not saying YOU were whatever, but that you were LIKE an unflattering stereotype he made up. He generally takes a contrary position and defends it regardless of fact or opposition. He also likes to completely disregard the discussion at hand in favor of making a negative but irrelevant remark. All of which he did to you within this thread; nothing new there. He is barely tolerated and mostly ignored.

I am neither excusing nor condoning his rudeness to you or anyone else in telling you that. I would estimate that, out of his 16000+ posts, about 2000 of them are anti-woman, give or take a few hundred. So, if you take offense, you are reacting exactly as he prefers, for his amusement. If you were to insult him in turn and get banned, or leave over his rudeness, you will be another of many on his scorecard of "victories" over his time here. To use one of his favorite tactics: He's like the crusty old fart in the corner of every bad sitcom who always has something horrid and useless to say about everything and everybody. (Face, who I'm paraphrasing in saying this, likes that about him. I don't.)

So it's up to you; ignore him as the rest of us have had to learn to do, or let him get to you.

Aye, 'tis true. Perhaps I am flawed from having grown up alongside EvenBob and Buzzard.

But I will agree with Babs, JerseyGirl, in that any person or their ideas are not worth leaving the forum. Figure out the easy to use block function and *poof*, they disappear. And you'll likely find a few people or topics that need disappearing, as we all do. But once done, you'll be astounded at the depth of this forum and the members within it, and will certainly find like-minded individuals who you will enjoy and look forward to conversing with.

Welcome, and enjoy your stay =)

Come on man, Archie Bunker was really your typical New Yorker in the 70's and 80's. There was not a darn thing 'wrong' or crude about Archie. The difference between the Archie's and the 'rest of us/you' is that the Archie's of the world tell it how it is and don't back stab or talk behind your back---they say it to your face. The so called 'polite/pc correct' ones back stab, and talk behind your back. Take it to the bank.

I'm going to try and make a dent in this common misconception.

Nope, rudeness and truthfulness are sometimes exclusionary. Just check with common rules of etiquette.

For instance commenting on everything you think as wrong as a invited guest in someone's else's home is truthful but definitely rude.

If you want to be truthful all the time, just don't pretend it isn't rude at times.

I'm not sure I even what rudeness is. What's
rude to one person isn't to another. That's
why political correctness was born, so we can
all be super duper nice to each other all the

If I can't tolerate it I get up and move.
I would never ask them to change or
moderate their actions because of me.
Why would I..

.

You do demand people moderate their behavior around you though. I've already pointed out the example of not allowing anyone to recline their chair on an airplane. You also mentioned how you bull rush people who stop or walk to slowly for your liking and that one was this morning.

So why is it OK for you to demand someone not recline their seat, again something allowed, but how dare she demand people not invade her space. Is it because you are the center of the world and not her?

I never say anything to them, never a word. I
make no demands. And running into people who
come to a sudden stop in front of me is an accident,
how I am I supposed to know what they'll do.

Nice try though, keep looking and hoping.

How are you making demands you might not verbally say anything but you are blocking their seats from reclining. Going about things in a passive aggressive way doesn't suddenly mean you are not making demands.

Oh also this is what you said

It's fun.

So I'm sure your just somehow encouraging someone to accidentally bump into people right.

From the seat reclining thread:

Quote: EvenBob

I push against the seat back so it can't recline.
I never recline mine, so I don't want their
seat in my face. Nobody has ever argued about
it. If they did I would whisper in their ear 'I
love you, do you love me?' Man or woman,
makes no difference. I imagine this would
work, who knows.

I'm not demanding anything, I'm preventing.
Look up the words, two entirely different
meanings.

I don't know if you do, that's what you said you would do, if anyone asked you to stop pushing on the back of their seat.
