Putin is the boss of the GOP? Okay, that actually makes sense.

Uh, no. With Syria Putin showed he can get a deal done while the chicken-hawk Obama was busy making speeches about bombing and blaming the GOP for-------ah, fughedabaddit. You either missed or are denying the point.

Maybe Putin can convince the GOP that they are in a no-win situation and the best thing to do is back down and save the fight for another day just like he did with Syria.

It was a pretty terrible point...Were you trying to say that Putin would be more likely than Obama to repeal a socialist healthcare bill, or were you saying that Putin would be more likely to give in to the demands of 45 fringe members in the legislature?

What socialist healthcare bill? It's not even socialist... it's just a mess.

I don't disagree. And I shouldn't have said socialist. A better point would have been that if Putincare had been passed in 2010, repeal would require a violent coup. Invoking Putin to bitch about how Obama isn't negotiating "properly" isn't a good idea.

Gotcha. Plus I do think it's a bit rich to try and stop funding of a law that has already passed in with a 100 other things. As strong or not as Rep's case may be for things to be cut and changed. But I haven't read enough about the whole controversy... I just know other countries are like 'WTF, America'.

What's the next private service or product the govt will force us to buy?

And that's exactly why it's not socialist healthcare.... it's a terrible oligarchical mess, that stinks of corporatism politics. And that's not good for either as a Conservative, Socialist or Liberal.

There are so many corporate and political exemptions
involved, the average person can't help but feel like
he's outside the loop and is going to get screwed
royally. If Obamacare is so wonderful, why are so
many unions and corps and politicians screaming to
get out of it. When the unions start complaining, you
know something ain't right. Like somebody said today,
nobody wants to pay thru the nose for 'free' inferior
healthcare.

Last time people in the Russian government officially disagreed with each other.

I tend to agree with AZ, and Obama has shown he can't lead worth shit when he doesn't have a filibuster-proof majority, but Putin's role was solely to embarrass the US. As the only significant ally of Syria, I'm sure he strong-armed them into exactly what he wanted. Giving him credit for pacifying the situation... sigh.

If Obama was replaced by Putin he would be flabbergasted by the lack of cooperation in Washington, I would say. Then he would probably drown his sorrow in a fifth of Vodka, climb a ladder to the top of the Washington Monument and jump (barechested, of course).

America continues to shoot itself in the foot with low personal tax rates, very high corporate tax rates, a crappy tax code, and is the only western nation (except Canada) with a regressive sales tax over a value-added tax. These tax decisions award individuals, force corporations to create tax havens aborad, and create a myriad of red tape in order to operate correctly.
