I think most, but not all, of the casino lots will give you a reasonable amount of free parking time. I usually park in the Binion's deck (horrendous elevator!). Take your ticket to the northwest side (toward Main Street) of the cashier's cage and self-stamp it with their machine. That gives four free hours, I think. The only time I parked at the California deck, the ticket machine wasn't even in operation.

After making the rookie mistake of paying to park in the city garage, I've always either valet parked at the Golden Nugget or self-parked at El Cortez.

Everytime I goto vegas, I prefer to get a taxi or a limo. Driving in that city is horrendous...

Guess different folks have different experiences.

I'm not sure I've ever found an easier city to drive in. Just don't drive on the strip if you're in a hurry.

Agree on the Golden Nugget Valet notion. They do fine work with their Valet service. On a busy weekend evening, however, they may ask if you are a Guest of the Hotel.

Fremont has a nice valet. Just keep going south down Casino Center after you get off the 93/95/515. Believe or not I sometimes -- gasp! -- street park. Across from the Cal there are some nice well-lit spaces. Free in the evenings.

Strongly agree. If I still lived in Florida I might find Vegas a tad intimidating, but coming from DC it's like a driver's paradise.

I agree with Doc and sunrise towards the accessibility of vegas. During my most recent trip we rented a car and simply avoided LVB and made it everywhere we wanted to go with very little problems. Coming from certain parts of New Jersey/New York, driving in las vegas is like driving on deserted backroads even if one were to try to brave the strip.

Golden Nugget. Self-service validation stamp machine at the cashier's cage. Maybe it was the Four Queens. I can't remember. I can usually find street parking, too. 3rd street JSO Carson. I think the meters turn off at 8pm.

I was going to hit some coupons at the Plaza. They charge $5 to park, which was the value of the coupon, so "no". I was going to park on the street but after scanning the area I decided it wasn't worth it. Seedy. And for downtown that's saying something.

Amazing what a difference a couple blocks can make.

Anyone who complains about Vegas traffic has never lived anywhere with traffic. The strip is the strip. And even it moves since they got all the peds out of the way.
