State: Arizona
City: Fort McDowell
Casino: We-Ko-Pa

Today's chip of the day is from the We-Ko-Pa Casino in Fort McDowell, Arizona. We-Ko-Pa is the former Fort McDowell Casino that I sadly didn't get to visit before it was rebranded on 10/28/20. The casino is run by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation and has 923 slot machines and 17 table games/poker. I was never in the casino prior to the rebranding but based on the brand new feel of the casino I would assume that it got a pretty good makeover with the name change. I played BJ to get my chip and if memory serves (which is debatable) I won a few bucks. I guess I really should keep notes of my play when I collect chips but where would be the fun in that? I stopped into the casino on my drive from Austin, TX to Las Vegas in I think April of this year. My plan was to pick up chips from all the NM and AZ casinos that I was missing in my collection but due to Covid some casinos were still closed or in NM were only allowing locals to enter. Sadly that means I will have to make a 4th trip to AZ and 3rd to NM to try and complete those two state collections at some point.

The chip is white with two blue edge inserts and is the same style of chip that Doc posted from the Downtown Grand in Las Vegas that he guessed was a Bud Jones chip. The centre inlay is a grey/turquoise/black pattern that reminds me of a casino carpet. The casino name and chip denom are both white with the casino logo (mountain range) also in white above the casino name.

I have been lazy since I got back from my trip to PEI/Nova Scotia a few months ago and haven't been posting. I have been working very long hours and laziness has kept me from posting chip of the days. I will do my best to keep to the "of the day" theme of this thread. I kind of have to if I ever plan on catching up lol. I am headed to Panama for a poker series on Dec 5 and will collect all the chips I can there as I have never been before. I don't play much poker at all anymore due to my career shift almost two years ago but I was offered a free 4 star hotel for a week and $600 USD if I came and played the $1500 Main Event. The deal was wayyyyy too good rto pass up as it is basically a free trip to a country that I haven't been to before.

Anyways I give Doc permission to yell at me if I fall off the wagon again.

Don't forget that some of us will be looking forward to your tales of travel thru foreign lands and the ensuing encounters with exotic women and questionable street food.

City: Laveen
Casino: Vee Quiva

Today’s chip of the day is from Vee Quiva Casino in Laveen, AZ. Vee Quiva opened on December 17, 1997. This chip is both new and old. RDW posted his chip from Gila River Casinos back in January of 2013. All 3 casinos used to use the same chips that listed all 3 casinos on them. In 2017 they decided to get new chips made for each casino with just their name on it. I originally collected the chip that was used for all 3 casinos but I replaced it this year with a new chip from each casino. Vee Quiva has 921 slots and 44 table games/poker tables. I played BJ to get my chip but I again don’t remember if I won or loss.

The chip is a white Paulson LCV with 4 edge inserts in green and pink. The chip only has two top hat and canes because the Gila River Casinos is etched into the chip twice. I always mention this when it comes to chips like this but I find this style of chip with the name etched into the chip to be the nicest looking chip. The centre inlay has a picture of the casino with the casino name in brown and sandy brown with the casino logo underneath in grey. The “hotel and casino” is black and the denomination is white. The back of the chip has a colourful inlay with the Gila River Casinos, the logo and the denom once again.

Casino: Lone Butte

Today's chip of the day is from Lone Butte Casino in Chandler, Arizona. There are some discrepancies about the opening dates. I believe the original Lone Butte opened on 25/04/94 as per the chip guide. They list the "new" Lone Butte casino twice which I assume means they built a better, bigger building and moved the casino operations to the new building. The problem here is that the chip guide lists both 1/25/02 and 10/08 as the "new" casino opening dates. I guess we will never know for sure. The casino has 824 slots and 24 table games/poker tables. As per usual I played BJ to collect my chip and won or loss some nominal amount of money.

The chip is a white LCV with 4 edge inserts in orange and blue. The chip has Gila River Casino etched into the outer ring of the chip. The centre inlay has a picture of the casino with the casino name in black and sandy brown above the casino logo. "Casino" is black and the chip denomination is white. The back of the chip has a colourful centre inlay with Gila River Casinos in red, sandy brown and black and the denom in white.

Casino: Wild Horse Pass

Today's chip of the day is from Wild Horse Pass Casino in Chandler, Arizona. This is the third and final (for now, Gila is building a new casino) Gila River Casino that I have to post. Wild Horse Pass has better info on the chip guide. The casino opened June 3, 1995 in a temporary spot until the permanent building was finished and ready for operations in November of 1997, A decade later they started to build a new location closer to the freeway and that location was opened in October of 2009. The casino has over 1100 slots, I wasn't able to get a table count as Casinocity is down the casino's website doesn't say. Who wants to guess what I played to collect my chip and the result?

The chip is white LCV with 4 edge inserts in orange and green. Gila River Casino is etched into the outside of the chip like the previous two chip of the days. The centre inlay is a picture of the casino with the casino name is red/yellow/red with "Hotel & Casino" in black underneath the grey logo. The chip denomination is white. The back of the chip is the same as the previous two days with a colourful centre inlay with Gila River Casinos in brown/dandy brown/black with a grey logo separating the words.

That is all I have for Arizona so tomorrow I will move onto a new state. I have 74 more chips to post not including any I may collect during that time. I do have a couple of trips planned. The first one is a short 3 day trip to Victoria Island where I will collect chips from Victoria and Nanaimo. I also booked my flights to Panama a couple days ago. I will be there from December 4-15 and I am currently sifting through a bunch of bad and outdated online information as to what casinos are currently in Panama City. Depending on what actually exists I should be able to collect between 7-11 chips on this trip but based on my previous trips abroad you never know. If I remember correctly I was planning on collecting around 20-25 chips in Cambodia and ended up collecting 50. Finally I am in discussion with some friends to take advantage of the "free" room offer from Atlantis in the Bahamas through Caesar's diamond rewards. I put free in quotations because with resort fee and automatic tips it ends up being $66 a day still per room.

State: Pennsylvania
City: Greensburg
Casino: Live!

Today's chip of the day is from Live! Casino in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Live! Casino Pittsburgh opened on 11/24/20 as one of the new casino licenses given out over the last couple of years in Pennsylvania. I had seen these licenses advertised as "mini casinos" but this casino was definitely not small with 750 slots and 30 table games. All the BJ tables were closed so I played baccarat which I have done from time to time. For once I remember the outcome which was a $100 win and a new souvenir.

The chip is a white RHC with two pink edge inserts. The centre inlay is dark pink with a lighter pink star that takes up most of the inlay. The chip lists Westmoreland as the location even though the casino is definitely in Greensburg. "Live!" is red with the "casino Pittsburg" is in black. The denom is white with a black border and the incorrect location is white.

Well, PG, I finally got your latest three chip posts added to the index. We had been on a two-night trip to Harrah's Cherokee, where we got together with odious gambit and his wife. For a change, the casino allowed me to leave with a few $ more than I came in with. Yep, covered my wagers, the Resort Fees, meals, and even a fair bit of my wife's shopping expenses! I think OG was expecting to join up with another forum member yesterday afternoon/evening after I headed home.
