Really? Why do you think only Quebec and Nunavut?

It was a smarta$$ comment somewhat related to a population base not focused on the English language. (My "sense of humor" is not widely regarded very highly. Or even recognized, in many cases.)

Lol whoops I took it as a serious comment and was justly confused.

Today's chip of the day is from Galaxy Casino in Taipa, Macau. This is THE Galaxy Casino not to be confused with all the casinos that Galaxy owns and has a partial name share. This casino is massive! Also the limits are enormous, the lowest table we could find was $300 HKD. The Broadway Casino is attached to Galaxy by a skywalk but uses the same chips so we didn't bother to visit. We lost our one bet at Galaxy and left with $25 chips after checking over a 100 tables and figuring out that they don't have smaller chips in play. They do have a $5 chip on MoGH but for the life of me I couldn't find one.

The chip is green with 8 white/yellow/white edge inserts. Around the inlay it says Galaxy Macau and the denomination twice in white. The centre inlay is a shiny silver foil like appearance which has "Galaxy Macau" in the foil as you can kind of see in the picture. The casino logo, casino name, some Chinese lettering which I assume is the name and the denomination are all present on the inlay.

Well, you are right on that threshold we have talked about for so long....

And as for those characters that you cannot read, isn't that the reason we keep Konbu employed as a part-time consultant on this thread? (Of course, the pay is only measured in degrees of abuse.)

My my I have no idea what you are talking about Doc. What threshold might you be referring to? 😂

The characters are blurry but they are 澳門銀河 = Macau Galaxy.

As for lower limits I would say try to find a Sic Bo table. Limits are much lower and maybe you can put a $10 HKD bet on specific triple for a 180 to 1 payout at something ridiculous like 16% house edge!

I looked at something like that but I had absolutely no idea how to play that game. Also we didn't mind gambling a bit.

It is my pleasure today to post the 1000th chip in the chip of the day thread!!!

I just want to start with some cool numbers:
This thread has nearly 1.1 million views! There have been over 6400 posts made in this thread and this March 15th will be the 5 year anniversary of Doc's amazing thread. The thread covers 30 countries and that doesn't even include the cruise ship chips. Doc I have said it before and I will say it again, thank you for this thread. I love it!

Today's chip of the day is from Sands Casino in Macau, Macau. Sands Macau opened in 2004. This is the first casino outside of the SJM chain that we visited and we ended up here three different times. Sands Casino is enormous and beautiful as you would expect from the owner of the Venetian. We ended up playing $300 HKD minimum BJ as the limits in all of the Adelson's casinos are quite high. We won our one hand and then proceeded to not be able to find the $5 chips we wanted. This is when I realized that I most likely was going to end up with a bunch of different denominations of chips since some casinos don't carry small chips. At Sands the problem was that the only tables that had $5 chips either had Venetian chips or Sands Cotai chips. Sands $5 chips apparently don't exist so I took a $25 Sands chip. We also came here for the free shuttle to the island where Venetian and other casinos are. The alternative is a $15 cab ride.

The chip is a blue with 4 light blue edge inserts that each have a half moon under them. Sadly the picture makes the edge inserts look green when in fact they are baby blue. The chip is made by Bourgogne et Grasset as noted by the BG on the left hand side of the centre inlay. The centre inlay is white with the casino name, logo and the chip denomination all in gold. The other side is the same except Sands is in Chinese, I am assuming Mandarin.

Congrats and big thanks to Doc!
金沙 is written the same in both traditional (used in HK, Taiwan) and simplified (Mainland, Singapore) Chinese. 金 = Gold 沙 = Sand.
