Do you ever dream you are gambling, and if so what are you playing?

After several hours at the PGP table I will dream about setting hands. I'm neither winning or loosing in my dreams, just setting cards.

Happened. Mostly poker and blackjack, and the times I remember were about winning.

One memorable time was when I realized the poker wins were too good to be true and I was dreaming, but had a strange conviction that since the chips and the money felt so real, there had to be a way to bring them back with me. I even managed to remember that the last time I tried to just cling to them it didn't work and started concocting schemes. It ended up with me putting it all into an account in a bank that conveniently turned out to be right nearby and repeating the details till I woke up.

Took a few minutes after that to shake off the back thought that I should check on my success.

I wrote here last week about dreaming of being a dealer allowed to take a break and learn from a sharp in the sports book.

I dreamt last week that the wife and I were buying and selling Monkey eggs. I think that is quite a gamble.

Kind of. Or more accurately, I dream that I am in Vegas looking for a BJ game. To the best of my recollection, I cannot say that I actually remember gambling in my dreams...they more frequently revolve around looking for a particular casino, where there's a juicy BJ game. Have had this dream more than once. Maybe I should find another hobby...

I sometimes dream about looking for a BJ too. You're not alone.

For a while, I dealt that I was dealing - AND my players had almost lizard-type second arms that were trying to pluck chips out of the rack.
...some were getting away with stolen chips, and I couldn't stop them, just couldn't stop them....felt totally helpless.
The rack was getting emptier and emptier, floor supervisors were bird-dogging the game I was on, nothing I could do to control the game.....

The ONLY time I ever took my dealing job home, - and to frigging bed, no less.

I'd be slapping their stealing hands away from the rack in my sleep, waking up my wife....

At the time, the casino I was working at was taking some losses, surveillance was writing dealers up for anything, floormen were scared, Vegas was in a bad recession, and my EZ Pai Gow game was just coming out, - and I was sweating its launch. Nutty stress.

I dreamt a while back that I was outside the local casino & found a guy's wallet with $500 in it. Went inside, bet the whole thing on one hand of Black Jack and got an AJ. Cashed out immediately, pocketed the $750 winnings and put the original $500 back. Then I went to guest services & had him paged. I returned the wallet to him & he was so happy he offered $100 to me.

That's when my morals kicked in & I refused it. Then I had to turn down his offer of dinner on him. Finally I agreed to just let him buy me a beer. He left & I sat there staring at my beer, ridden with guilt.

Not sure what I ate the before bed the night I had that dream . . . .

Well the dreams are frequently recurring and involve a casino/hotel and usually someone trying to kill me. Oddly they don't freak me out.
This is a expansion on dreams I had when I was doing festival promotion. It all started when doing Mass Causality Incident egress plans.

I usually dream we go to Vegas for 10 days and forget to play. On the last day I remember and can never get to a casino.

I love to bet on football and yes I dream about gambling during the football season, and usually when I do they are nightmares. But get a load of this... In my nightmares it isn't that I am losing money, the "nightmare" is that I've overslept and haven't gotten my bets placed in time.

Can ya believe that? My subconcious actually fears missing out on some action more that it does losing. :-D

I have overslept on an NFL sunday and missed out on a 4 for 4. It's an interesting feeling having no money on a game but begging for the team(s) you would have bet on to lose.

I'd have no problem with that, the ones that drive me crazy are the fantasy football finatics. Had a roommate who was real into that. Cool guy, but he cheered for the weirdest things on a gameday. I was like, "Can't you just take a point spread like a normal person?"

About two or three times a year I've a recurring, surreal gambling dream.

We are supposedly in Reno, but it looks nothing like Reno.

We are wandering through what are supposedly casinos, looking for slots and table games, but the buildings are basically laid out like big, old-fashioned wooden houses with many, many interconnected room, all pretty much empty of any gambling equipment.

No slots to be found, ever, and only one or two zombie-like craps tables.

The sparse crowd mills around aimlessly (mirrors reality), and throughout I get a feeling of ever-increasingly unease and mild-desperation: where, oh where, can my casino games be?

Very strange.
"What, me worry?"

Makes sense. What do you love more, winning some cash or the thrill of being "in the game"?
