Isn't it what mkl was saying all along in this thread?

I'm not really sure about much of what mkl is saying. It certainly does not seem to follow the generally accepted studies in this field. Furthermore, the folks I know who have stratospheric IQ's and 800's (or nearly 800's) on the real SAT's--the old ones--do not tend to bandy it about. Especially not in global venues like this one.

Bingo! High IQ people learn at a very very young age that bragging about your IQ or announcing it or casually dropping it in conversation, has the same effect as farting in a elevator: Nobody talks about it, but everybody resents it.

This thread is hilarious. Mkl has been bashed from pillar to post with virtually everyone laughing at his expense. If he takes the test at all he will almost certainly fail to win the bet. At the very least he will be miles off the laughable 190 which was originally claimed.

But who really cares about IQ anyway? I'll far sooner listen to a top businessman with an average IQ than someone with a genius IQ struggling away earning peanuts in a run of the mill job (however under valued it might be) never getting off the bottom rung of the ladder. The former is a success. The latter is a rank failure (relative to their IQ).

IQ Percentile and Rarity Chart
These are IQs, their percentiles, and rarity on a 15 SD (e.g. Wechsler) and 16 SD (e.g. Stanford-Binet) scale.  They were calculated using the NORMDIST function in Excel.  The number of decimal places for the rarity was varied in the hope it might be useful.  You can see why presently nobody should be able to get a deviation IQ higher than 195 (or 201 on the 16 SD scale).  There are not enough people in the world to 'beat'. Note that rarities given are of people that have a certain IQ or higher. Some people might find it more useful to know the rarity of people that have a certain IQ or lower. In that case use this example as a guide: If you want to know how many people have IQs of 84 or lower, look at the rarity of people that have an IQ of 116 or higher.  (100 - 84 = 16.  100 + 16 = 116).

I'll use my moral high ground. I've made snide remarks about mkl that were unneccesary. I apologize to mkl for being rude. I don't like to see people make rude and nasty comments to one another on this site and I accept that I have been as guilty of this as the next person. I'll take steps to clean up my act. Sorry to any and all I've offended.

Apology certainly accepted, and I am grateful for it. I, in turn, apologize for any such things I may have said about you.

There's no reason to insult MKL. His IQ is at least 25 points higher than Einstein's.

Hi, Jerry!

How about you put your money where your mouth is? If I'm Jerry Logan I will pay you USD100. If I'm not you leave the forum forever like you promised to do in that hilarious poll you started where 80% of voters said they wanted you gone. Deal?

He's the Joe McCarthy of the forum. Anyone who says a bad word is Jerry Logan. You'd think someone with a 190 IQ would be smarter than to try something like that. But then you'd have also thought a 190 IQ would have gotten the message when 80% of poll respondents wanted him gone so maybe not.

As for my challenge to put up or shut up it's no surprise to see him fail to take me up. After all, $100 is not nearly enough money for him to risk facing the prospect of having to find something else to do with his time. You try filling a 90hr gap in your week. It ain't easy!

Actually, you might be closer than you intended. I, myself, am not particularly fond of some of mkl's comments, even the "Hi, Jerry" "No, Jerry" quips. But I'm not really sure that he was saying that he believes you are actually the same person as JerryLogan, the way people were comparing JL and RS. I think he was (rightly or wrongly) comparing your posts and criticisms to those posted by Jerry when he is/was active. Don't really want to put words in mkl's mouth (he can do that quite sufficiently on his own), but that is how I was interpreting his remarks. Sort of like saying, "You sound just like JerryLogan," with all of the negative denotations but with fewer words.

He's also prone to chewing on that "190 IQ" bone--twice in his latest post--even though most of us have moved on from that. That would be EvenBob style, though. So Aussie is actually a hybrid. But you were absolutely right, Doc, that is exactly what I meant.
