I would say "yes."

It's not physically on the Strip, but it's one property within walking distance over. For the purpose of places to visit, when I stayed at the Tropicana/MGM area, I went there a couple times (once when it was San Remo — they had a great sushi bar — and once as Hooters), and I would say it's on the Strip. To say it's off-strip would be a disservice to potential visitors.

And it is for that very reason that I would say "no." "On the Strip" means just that.

OYO is strip adjacent, but on the strip itself? That can go either way. 🤔

Considering it’s across the street from MGM’s porte couture, and I think MGM’s property extends even further east than OYO’s, I say yes. 👍

Is your next question going to be, is the Strat on the strip? 🤪

Another casino I thought I’d never heard of until I realized it’s the old Hooters. Have had dinner at Hooters before never played in the casino.
I tell you it’s wonderful to be here, man. I don’t give a damn who wins or loses. It’s just wonderful to be here with you people. https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/gambling/betting-systems/33908-the-adventures-of-mdawg/

I consider Rio and Palms to be Strip Casinos so yes, OYO is too.

Is South Point a Strip Casino? Or is it too far down Las Vegas Blvd?

The middle ground is something like Orleans. And Sam's Town.

I agree. It should stay on the "Near Strip" list.

As a suggestion, I think it would be nice to list the Henderson casinos on this page. I realize they don't have a "Las Vegas" street address, but if I were a newbie coming to Easy Vegas for information, I would want to know of these places.

E.g., Green Valley Ranch rivals some of the strip properties in amenities, and is just as close to the airport (and a quicker ride) as one of the north end strip properties.

You could give Henderson an "honorable mention" table at the bottom of the page like you have with North Las Vegas.

Put me down for Nay. You either have a house that's right on the beach or a house that's one block away from the beach. There's a difference. The rule should be that if, with one step, you can leave the casino's property and be standing on the sidewalk of the Strip, it's a Strip casino. Anything else and you end up in the weeds over where to draw the line.

So the Rio, Palms, Ellis Island and Oyo are near Strip (or perhaps Strip adjacent). The Oyo and O'Sheas are tough calls, but I'd say no to both. This is similar to how you (correctly imho) don't include El Cortez or California as Fremont Street Experience casinos even though they're both a mere block away from "the beach". They're simply "downtown".

As for the length of the Strip, I like the liberal definition of the Strat to the Fabulous Las Vegas sign. So the Strat, Pinball Hall of Fame and the Dream resort (if it ever gets built) are on the Strip. South Point (and any new casinos built out there) and the Neon Museum are simply "on Las Vegas Blvd".
Have you tried 22 tonight? I said 22.

That question is a little different from the one I'm asking. I'm not asking if OYO is on the Strip, because clearly it's not. I'm asking whether I should *list* it along with the Strip casinos. Some people would say no to the former and yes to the latter. Still, I'll monitor that thread to get a feel for what people think. BTW, I asked a similar question here about a year ago and I think the results were 50/50 with 8-10 responses.

I vote no.

“Close to the strip” is perfect.

I’ve been near it a million times and have never stepped foot in there. Not worth the effort.

By that definition, Ballys / Horseshoe isn’t on the strip because it has that flea market shantytown up front.

That's a good point and, in fact, is one of the main reasons why I was stuck using the word "property". From what I understand, the shops are technically part of the Bally's resort (like a mall at any other casino/resort). It's managed by another company but the land belongs to Bally's (i.e. Caesars). Thus, since you can exit the shop area onto the Strip sidewalk, it qualifies as a Strip casino under my suggested definition.

Of course, defining stuff like this is usually just a form of mental "self gratification", about as pleasant and unimportant as a banana split. (Bonus points if you get that reference.) Since, however, MB actually needs it for a practical reason, it's kind of an interesting puzzle. Would, for example, O'Sheas be considered its own casino, or is it now merely an Irish themed section of The Linq casino? And does it even matter since they're both (as with Bally's) owned by Caesars?

By that definition, then what about Aria? You've got to walk a bit from anywhere in that place to set foot on S. Las Vegas Blvd. I guess the Shops at Crystals might be considered part of the resort.

Anyway, FWIW...I think OYO is "near the strip", not on it.

I believe they characterize the location as "right off strip".

El Cortez owns a parking lot that has an entrance on the strip. You can step directly off its property and be on the strip. They made a big deal about it when they acquired the parking lot a few years ago.
As far as OYO goes, I consider it a strip casino. The casino directly across from it is certainly a strip casino. It's a matter of semantics, so whatever you are comfortable with. OYO is closer to the strip than Aria.

THAT is really stretching things. Even the Strat’s claim of being a strip casino a stretch.

But at least Aria has a strip access driveway.

Of course I still argue YES, but because it’s entrance is across from MGM’s porte cochère and MGM’s property extends further east than OYO’s.

You can walk out the side door of the Strat and be on Las Vegas Blvd. I've done it many times to hit the Carl Jrs across the street.

I look at it the same way I do a Broadway theatre. Most of them are not actually on Broadway but in the vicinity. These days, they have pushed the " Broadway" motif to include Lincoln Center, which is two miles or more from the traditional Broadway boundaries.

When I lived in Long Beach, houses on a block that touched the beach were considered beach houses. Until you crossed the street, you were on the beach. Houses on beach blocks are rented at premiums.
Since you don't cross any street to get to OYO, I'd consider it on the strip. YMMV.

I vote no as well. I also agree with the comment to add Henderson casinos in with North Las Vegas, basically everything in the Las Vegas Valley, unless you don't like Henderson for some reason.
