ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!

Ford Field is ready to host an impromptu Monday night football game between the Vikings and Giants in the wake of the Metrodome's collapse.

The NFL didn't wait long before deciding to move the game to Detroit with Minneapolis still digging out from a massive snowstorm.

Anyone with tickets to the original game at the Metrodome will be admitted to the game and given preferential seating near the 50-yard line.

Otherwise, general admission tickets will be free and available at the Ford Field ticket office starting 9 a.m. ET Monday.

If I didn't have a huge thing on Tuesday to prepare for, I would so go. I might still go. But I'm afraid most of the tickets will be gone by the time I get up there. Detroiters love themselves some free football.

FINALLY, an opportunity for minorities to get into a football game. Most of the games I've gone to are like white power rallies loaded with drunken lawyers and accountants.

Now all they need do is give away free beer and the rest of us will see what Detroit is made of.

I'm giving myself a 30 day suspension from this site. I really don't get offended by much and I'm not really offended by this either, but this guy injects this kind of garbage into just about every thread on this site. Lots of other internet to see and other forums to get my Vegas fix. Love your sites Wizard, but even I can only stand so much trash before punching out for a while.

I thought minorities had the same opportunity as everybody to get in. Where do you live, Jerry, 1957?

So minorities don't have the same opportunity to go to games as anybody else? Isn't that illegal? I've been to a few sports games and always see minorities there, how did they get in, fake ID's?

The whole point is, as if it needed to be explained, about ticket prices. Have you looked at them or bought them recently? I'm going to the Cowboys game here on Christmas Day, and the cheapest tickets available were $180 each. With all those stupid "convenience" "service" & even "pickup or printing" fees I'm paying just under $450 for 2 tickets....to see the lousy CARDINALS. And there aren't very many minorities in the stands when I go....not here, not in Dallas, or not even in Atlanta where I've seen games. When you watch TV commercials you'd think they're equally spread around; but when you're at an NFL game you think you're in Salt Lake City.

I thought that was the basic definition of "minority" in the first place--there were fewer of them. So, fewer of them at a game would be a function of logic and mathematics.

What you're implying is that "they" are too poor to attend a game, and while there, more likely to get drunk and riot, which I could see as being offensive and stereotypical.

There's not really "fewer of them" here in the Phoenix area. And NFL games don't even come close to the mathematics of it all.

Yes, by and large they are too poor to attend the games. Most of them are in the Obama program of entitlements. They spend much of their time on the penny slots at the Indian casinos, they'll stop at Circle K for 3 bucks in gas, a chili dog & chips, some twinkies, a thirst-buster, a pack of smokes, and then they'll rumble off in their pieces of junk. And yes, if they give away free beer at that game tonight you can count on 100X the number of fights and drunkeness than you'd see with a stadium full of attorneys & accountants, both of whom actually have something to lose.

Ticket prices at Ford field range from $42 to $260.

This is a similar range to that at Qwest in Seattle.

Dallas is far and away the most expensive place to watch the NFL.

"Minorities" have always had the opportunity to see a game. Had you said "FINALLY an opportunity for people with less disposable income to see an NFL game" no one would be questioning the statement. I had told my sister about the freebie since she lives in the Lions' market, and if it weren't a school night, she'd have had her opportunity.

Don't kid yourself about the free beer and professionals--they just drink heavily at the tailgate to avoid paying the stiff concession prices inside the stadiums. That's the only reason they're sober enough to find their way out at the end of the game.

And your description of minority behavior sounds no different from that of the People of WalMart site, who are largely not minorities.

Estimates are that the game will be lightly attended, actually.

And attendance at every pro and college football game (and baseball game, for that matter) I've ever been to has been overwhelmingly white. Take what you will from that. I'd add hockey, but that might be getting ridiculous. How about basketball?

The Family Cost Index for prices of a family of four to attend a game, buy some snacks and some merchandise are here :

http://teammarketing.com.ismmedia.com/ISM3/std-content/repos/Top/News/nfl%20fci%202009.pdf

The idea if to track what it costs a family of four to attend a game.

The Cowboys FCI is $758.00
The Bills FCI is $303.00

Beer at Ford field is $8 for a 20oz-er. That's the most expensive beer in the NFL apart from the Rams who charge $8.75. I have no idea what swill is in those cups. The Cowboys however charge $7 for a 12oz cup... which is obviously worse value.

The other teams are mixed in between.

So if you to take a family of four to this game, with FREE tickets, and each member has two hot dogs, 2 sodas for each kid, and 2 beers for each adult, one shared program, and two hats for the kids, it will cost about $153.00.

Leave the kids home, go with a friend "Dutch Treat", walk to the game to save parking fees, skip the program, smuggle in your own sandwiches, and only buy two beers (be careful not to spill them, and no swilling since you only have one per half), and your expense drops to a miserly $17.00.

That's almost 3 hours of work at minimum wage for the "economy" route. :(

Or stay home, watch on TV, buy a case of beer, and still save money. :)

Basketball's overwhelmingly white in attendance; so is football. And the majority of the athletes are black. Even in basketball where you see the token white or two, much of the time they're from outside the US. It's like being back in the old gladiator days. You can tell even baseball's moving towards mostly Hispanic. Imagine the hot-headed Juan Marichal-type fights on the horizon in that sport. Hockey's a different story, it must be. I guess all those Mandingo muscles just can't navigate the ice as well.

This just in: nullifying the early guesses, the Lions have stopped issuing tickets to the game, citing "overwhelming response". Looks like we got a game!

The problem with the guy is he thinks he's being coy, but he just can't help himself since he's unable to play "cover-up" for just one second. Obama uses the teleprompter; mkl uses the dictionary, encyclopedia, Internet, and thesaurus. Then he checks it over and double checks it for errors....and then he checks it over again! It's as funny as it gets!!

Maybe we should leave the guy alone. I mean, we've already seen him whine and cry like a baby here. Now he might get positively FEROCIOUS!
